BTW, I’ve been reading Failblog for quite some time now, but I hardly ever post here. However, I’m a bit mystified by all these posters who say “First!” all the time. Why do they do this? What’s the point? When I read the comments, I want to read about the picture (perhaps even find out where it comes from and what the story is), but every time I look at the comments and see someone write “first,” I feel like strangling someone.
Well, Steve, the main reason idiots post “first” is that somehow, being first to comment is something to celebrate about and tell the whole world, according to them. Your tendencies are normal for any person with a brain, and firsters are seen as outcasts.
Seeing someone post “first” is like being in a boat and having another boat crash into you. You look up, ready to shout at the driver that they need to watch where they are going, but then realize it is just an empty boat, come loose from its moorings. Suddenly you are not as angry. You let it pass by and continue on your way.
The people who have nothing to contribute to the dialogue are just empty boats. There is no one to strangle. Just move on.
Welcome, Steve. Like MRN says, just skim over the troll threads, and join the real conversations. Getting all upset about trolls just serves their purpose of getting as much attention as possible, so ignoring them is best.
Seeing someone post first is like hearing someone repeat an old urban legend as fact…

so dangerous, I just read a post on some legal blog about the dangerous of negligence and lack of insurance : http://lawblog.legalmatch.com/2009/09/25/uninsured-car-accidents-can-cost-you-big-time/ . People could get really hurt, I hope the landlord or building management fixed that.
