    • Bakerman says:

      Enough SAID

    • convictus says:

This probably has is put up in a one of the countries that have working men that believe that sex with virgins will cure their Aids. This does happen in Africa right now, so I doubt this sign is as much fail as you think it is.

      • sacksyboy says:

Um…they don’t speak english in those countries (at least the native population doesn’t anyway). And the car in the picture is driving on the right side of the road (majority of African countries don’t)…

          • AE says:

The original point was that it might be Africa because 1.) it’s pertaining to AIDS and 2.) Because of poor awareness on the spread of AIDS there. Suggesting that it could be South Africa because it’s written in English completely nullifies the reason anyone suspected it could be Africa in the first place, because this is not the case in the South half of the continent. So could it be South Africa? Of course. Is it likely? No.

            • Educated says:

This issue is actually a serious problem in some African metropolitan cities (and likely elsewhere too). English is a second language that is spoken in many of these places. Whether this sign is from here or abroad, as goofy as the sign may look, it’s not an issue that should be taken lightly. This should be taken down from this site – I love failblog, but this is one thing that is really not actually a joke.

              • pimpdoubt says:

                You’re actually not a joke.

                • Yeh Man says:

I don’t really see how this sign is a fail either, to be honest.

                  1. There is nothing remotely funny about it.
                  2. It is probably in a South African city or a city in a similar country with an AIDS problem.

                  • Penetration says:

Not a fail. But rather, it is a win. An EPIC win.

                  • Lunarâ„¢ says:

Are you serious? You can’t tell? I’ll help you out some. You can get aids for any person of any age.

                  • jayembee says:

As someone who actually works in HIV prevention (and has for over 20 years) I’m calling this a FAIL. It fails dismally in the realm of social marketing. It looks like a bad ad campaign from the 1960s, but isn’t kitchy enough to be retro. It screams public morality as the framework for the message (rather than youth empowerment), guaranteeing that no adolescent or teenager would give it more than a brief glance and a tired, exaggerated eyeroll. My colleagues and I snort and sigh over how useless it is. It sux. Total FAIL.

              • Henrietta says:

I believe the fail here is that AIDS (and the other things listed) are not only given by older men. The sign implies that girls are guaranteed to get these things if they have sex with older men, but has nothing to say about having sex with guys their age.

                • Yeh Man says:

Yes, AIDS is not only given by older men, but in some of these countries you have older men trying to pay young girls for sex and hanging out around schools and stuff. There is a reason why the old men targeting schoolgirls is a particular issue.

                • kyran says:

yes…thank you for explaining the joke. how kind of you…

              • shenaniganista says:

                Yeah, public health win.

              • Doki-Doki says:

Everyone keeps saying this isn’t a fail and should be taken down. I don’t think its about the fact that its a poster about older men giving aids to younger girls, I thought it was just the fact that it mentions they could give her “Illegitimate Children” was the fail, seeing as it doesn’t matter who’s doing it with who or weather its concented, but the children wouldn’t be illegitimate, it would still be biological’

So no, I don’t think this fail should be taken down, it may be a on a poster of a sensitive and serious subject matter, but so is alot of things on Fail Blog and other such forums. If you feel this fail offends you then just move on to another fail.

            • Bfordc says:

AIDS miseducation is a massive problem in the country with the highest incidence rate of AIDS in the world. Pssst, it’s South Africa. The last president, Thabo Mbeki, believed that AIDS was not caused by HIV and was a Western conspiracy concocted against Africa. The current president, Jacob Zuma, testified during a rape trial that immediately after having consensual sex with the plaintiff (who has AIDS), he showered to decrease the risk of transmission. Anything reasonably accurate pertaining to AIDS would be very welcome South Africa.

              • mary0spockn says:

agreed. is not a fail and is not funny.
p.s. FYI Nigeria also speaks English (of a sort) and AIDS is a serious problem there.

            • LennyofCranberryland says:

This sign is in the Bahamas. I’ve seen it many times there before and I recognize the buildings in the background. There IS actually an issue of older men hanging around high schools looking to get laid and one of the major problems is that many people don’t see anything wrong with it. I don’t see any fail here.

              • cobaltcanarycherry says:

Thank you! I don’t see a damn thing wrong with this poster. Sorry to disillusion you, but we have creeps that troll poorer neighborhoods here in the US and try to lure young girls into their cars for $20 a go. I’m talking 12 year old kids in school uniforms, people.

I wish our schools would speak as frankly as this to girls, then 70% of black and 40% of white births in my state wouldn’t be illegitimate ( no data on Hispanic, sorry ).

I believe the highest rate of increase in AIDS in the US is among rural young women. Was the last I checked.

If the truth is offensive, let’s solve the problem.

                • Cord says:

Highest increase in AIDS cases is in blak females between ages 18-26

                  • Mouse says:

If only they had a cardboard sign to take the place of responsible parenting and instilling of values! That and a letter c.

                • Pat Spencer says:

This is not funny and should be taken down. Young girls under a year old are raped in South Africa daily as some men mistakenly believe that sex with a virgin cures Aids. This is sick as far as any African is concerned.

            • aubrey says:

so what was it suppose to do with the age? i mean, stop older men from dating school girls? i dont think that it is not directly pertaining to africa because the illustration there was clearly not africans there. ^^

              • Pat Spencer says:

Its is a picture of an African man and an African school child – she is wearing school uniform.
These men rape the girls to get cured of Aids.

            • Hobo Tacos says:

AE, I’m sorry that you are too ignorant to realize a lot of Americans are stupid. (Therefore proving my point)

          • Ash says:

Both the people in the poster are white.

        • Daz says:

Um…they speak english in most african countries champ…

        • Cate says:

Um….yes they do. Or at least they did when I lived in 3 different countries in southern Africa (not South Africa itself–but 3 countries in the southern part of Africa). English is the official language (or one of several official languages) of many African countries. This is partly because there are so many “native” (try “indigenous” to sound less like a cultural elitist) languages spoken throughout some of these countries that English is a common language. The official language status means that all government, business and schools are conducted in English. So most people speak it as a first language (along with another language) or as a second language at least.

Pick up a book someday, moron.

          • jnettie says:

Yup, lots of English in Africa:

In some countries where English is not the most spoken language, it is an official language; these countries include Botswana, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, the Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

It is also one of the 11 official languages that are given equal status in South Africa (South African English).

        • Dee Bilter says:

South Africa is or was colonized by England I believe….

        • People in Africa don’t speak English? Do you live in your mother’s basement with no TV or something?

And the image of the car is a REFLECTION, so it’s flipped. It is indeed on the left side of the road.

Brian below is just as big an idiot. Apparently it’s never occurred to him that buildings and street layouts in small American towns might resemble those in small towns in other countries.

      • Brian says:

You can tell that is an small American town by the reflection.

      • Brian says:

You can tell that is a small American town by the reflection.

      • waroon says:

The sign is a bit silly, but the point it makes is not. Older men take advantage of girls who aren’t old enough to make rational decisions.

    • watch pozart.wordpress.com

  1. First? says:

    awwww first?

  2. First? says:

    Oh cmon!

  3. Cloud says:

There’s so much we can get from the elder generation. We should respect and treat them properly.

  4. pimms says:

…but on the plus side, they’re quite generous when it comes to giving out sweets…

  5. Say g'night, Gracie says:

I’m boycotting this fail. If anybody wants to talk to me, look for me on the last fail, or wait until the next one.

  6. Phat Pat says:

Why is this a fail? Did an “older man” submit this one?

  7. JazzyGirl says:

    And puppies and diamonds.

  8. Fale says:

    It’s a funny sign but I hardly consider this a “fail” by failblog’s standards…

  9. Leila ♀ © says:

All I got was candy. :(

  10. General and FailBlog Treasurer BondFan4518 ♂ MP of the 3rd Witty Comments Countering Trolls Division, Earl of Huntingdon-on-Thames/BFF News reporter/The Speaker of the House/BIG BROTHER/The President of Gui says:

    AIDS AND DEATH!!

  11. And In 50’s world Fake ID has never been concieved of.

  12. Second!
Come on – Does anyone really think a schoolgirl would be a willing participant? Most girls have a natural aversion to sexual attention from older men, regardless of their education. Whoever’s behind this campaign has either been taking fantasy porn too seriously, or else girls in (which country is this?) are remarkably gullible.

    • risskia says:

there are countries in which it is thought preferable to wed a young girl to an older man – congo is one, cambodia has been another inteh past, but I think that culture is changing.

    • Jim says:

      Just FYI…

      My age: mid 30’s
My girl: School girl… but 100% legal at half my age.
Is she a willing participant: Oh God yes. Yes she is.

In fact, in my opinion, most teenage girls prefer older men. Maturity and financial security are very attractive things.

    • Rachel says:

Um, when a girl can’t afford food, and an older man offers her food for sex, it becomes more tempting. There are dozens of countries in the world with signs like these, and they are needed, NOT a FAIL.

      • Mouse says:

That in some reality the sign would be necessary to make is a fail.

Whose responsibility is it to teach children about sex and its consequences?
        A) the childrens’ parents
        b) schools
        c) cardboard signs in shop windows
        d) sexual predators
        e) Fox News

        • Yune says:

*hesitantly looks at options while holding finger over “d”* … er… *puts finger over “a”* but that wouldn’t be funny… *magically hacks and puts down a sixth choice*

          f) The voices in their heads

*chooses option “f”* I was told I could get new friends by having sex with girls OwO

        • Dee Bilter says:

Mouse, if a child isn’t taught by their parents (who may actually be the predator) about responsible sex, than I would think any source for information that saves their health, well-being and potentially their life is valid and necessary. Even signs in a shop window.

    • Dee Bilter says:

My great grandmother was 13 when she got married and I don’t believe 18 before she gave birth to her first child. But that was damned near a century ago. It was commonplace in those days. Hopefully we’ve learned better since the common cause of death before the mid-1900’s for young women was complications of childbirth because their reproductive systems weren’t capable of carrying a child to term and vaginal delivery. All because they were encouraged to marry well and start pumping out babies. So their husbands would have free farmhands. Ugh!

    • cobaltcanarycherry says:

Some are sadly very willing very early in life. Most seem to have a daddy complex, come from a single mom family. Others are aware early that their bodies can buy them lots of goodies. I think it is mostly lack of self respect.

  13. Vladimir says:

There are signs like this all over the place in the Bahamas.

And the sign is not 100% incorrect — it is possible that an older man could give a girl AIDS / HIV.

  14. Chris, Cincinnati, OH says:

Really funny sign. Reminds of the anti-pot propoganda movies from back in the 60s. This is only a fail in the sense that its a load(pun intened) of crap.

  15. Michael J Fox says:

Young men cant give women these things?

  16. Notu says:

    Drats, foiled again.

  17. zippycat says:

I don’t think the sign means “old” men .. older, as in, older than school girls. So like a 22 year old guy with a 16 year old girl. He’s older. I’m pretty sure that’s what the sign means.

  18. i8a4re says:

Yeah, people need to be aware of aids, and the prevention of it. But why do I get the vibe that this is just targeting older men? Now I know it’s been a few years since my last health class, but last I heard, there are other various ways of getting aids besides just older men. Am I not right?

    • Black Garnets, the fanged bunny says:

Nope, new findings. Older men give it on cards. Forget the any gender, unprotected sex, shared needles, exposure thing.

    • Dee Bilter says:

Let’s put it simply. Let’s keep pedophiles from diddling children. Period.

  19. Stephen Ogley says:

What the heck! This is a perfectly sensible message. Silly contribution.

    • Steve With A Q says:

The sensibility of the message IS the FAIL.

The message is so obvious that the fact that a [very cartoonish and patronizing] sign needed to be created points to a much bigger FAIL on the part of our society and especially some particular individuals in it.

  20. Chri353 says:

That’s right, so only have sex with younger men

  21. Andrew Ong says:

The poster is most likely targeting paedophiles, I’d say.

  22. Confdence says:

I like how it says AIDS & Death, like death isn’t enough, you gotta have AIDS when you die too.

  23. Failedlox says:

Someone care to tell me where the fail is?
    I’m serious.

  24. Bobette says:

I feel that it’s rather effective, i mean i wouldn’t want to sleep with an older man if he was going to give me aids…

  25. StrawberryFairy says:

Older men should never tounch teenage girls especially the ones with warts.

  26. Achilles Cat says:

I think this sign came from Thailand or one of the other countries with a serious HIV problem and a child sex industry. I don’t see how it is a fail. In those countries this is a serious problem, and should be treated as such.

    • naughtyduncan says:

That’s what I was thinking. I bet this makes a lot more sense in context.

    • F.A.I.L.B.A.R. says:

Don’t know about you guys, but the single word and second word fragment in the reflection don’t ring an “English” bell at all to me. Of course, the reflection of the colonial style brick building on the left hand side is a little more likely to be found domestically…

      • RoverDaddy says:

If you flip the image, you can see it the sign reads “Diamond Center” on top and then you see part of the same thing underneath.

    • Dee Bilter says:

Don’t kid yourself. It’s a problem right here in the US as well. And it isn’t just school girls. It’s school children. Pedophilia is an epidemic worldwide. It’s more shocking in countries where men think that raping a virgin will cure AIDS, but children are raped and exploited everywhere. The only way this sign fails is that it isn’t more widely placed, and followed up with a giant red P tattooed on the forehead of every pedophile so that we can see them coming from a distance and run.

  27. OlderMan says:

    AIDS is evil

  28. Mateo Hamburgueso says:

Dude, this isn’t a Fail, this is a complete WIN!

  29. Johnny says:

For every Fail there is a Win

  30. hansklokthemovie says:

damn do i hate that sign, its hard for an old guy like me, ya know

  31. The Norm says:

Why is this a fail. This is true. School girls don’t have AIDS, but older men, especially sexually promiscuous men, do have AIDS. They will automatically transfer the virus to the school girls. Condoms have a ~10% failure rate (officially). In addition: it’s morally wrong. School girls can’t make this decision on their own. Everything about this poster is right.

    • Archeon says:

Ok firstly, condoms have ~1% failure rate (slightly less, but the companies cover themselves by saying it is 1%).

Secondly the chance of contracting AIDS from someone with it, through vaginal sex is 0.1% for the recipiant, so combine this with a condom break ur looking at 1% of 0.1% = 0.001% chance of contraction with a condom.

Older men do not stand that much chance of having AIDS than a younger man who may have had a blood transfusion as a child for example, or received it down from a parent, where the chances of contracting AIDS are much higher.

Morality is determined on a whole number of things. Is it immoral for a 17 year old boy to have sex with a 16 year old girl? He is technically older. In terms of school girls not being able to make decisions for themselves, possibly true of some, but certainly not all.

Everything you said in your post is rubbish.

      • risskia says:

Your numbers are wrong. Through unprotected sex between a male and a female, there is a a 30 to50% chance of transmission.

Condoms DO have a 10% fail rate AS USED BY THE GENERAL POPULACE. Th 1% fail rate is for those who use them correctly every time.

Using a condom during sex does, indeed, reduce your chance of getting HIV infection, but it does not eliminate it.

All of this sort of pales in comparison to the transmission rates of other fun STDs, though…

        • Archeon says:

Risskia you are mistaken on your numbers. The above cite the chance of transmission from penile heterosexual sex for the recipient at 10 cases in ever 10,000 (0.1% as i cited) when no condom is used.

    • Dee Bilter says:

      Thanks for pointing that out.

  32. Brettr says:

That’s why I always have sex with younger men.

  33. Paul says:

Looks like sign win to me

    • Noni says:

I was thinking the same thing.

Maybe it’s a fail for whoever posted it on this site. Was it a school girl or a pedophile man that got it here on failblog?

  34. dinserdinser says:

Ugh, this was at 69 comments when I looked at this. Horrible.

  35. That guy says:

What, so it’s alright for younger men to have sex with school girls but older men can’t?

    • Dee Bilter says:

Well, if it’s a young teenaged girl, then an older man would be, say, 20 or 21, now wouldn’t he? Older is a relative term. Let’s just say pedophile. Any person older than 21 shouldn’t be diddling any child younger than 18. You know, kindof like the law says…

  36. Mário says:

    this isn’t a fail…. this is a WTF?!?!?!?

    • LilMaibe says:

Well, I have to say, it’s only half as WTF and half as fail as the anti-aids campaign they recently had…or tried to have…over here >>

      • Cloral says:

        Where’s here?

        • LilMaibe says:

Germany…. (I had hoped the news about that awful anti-aids campaign would have psread over the internet already….usually the net is faster with such things :/ )

Anyway… To get it straight: The thing I’m talking about is an Anti-Aids/Use Condoms Tv-Spot in which AIDS is personified by Hitler….

  37. Michael B says:

    This Fail is a Fail

  38. amytime says:

I think this was taken in a country were poor girls around 12-14 years old are tempted to have sex with older men because the men will give them clothing, food or money. The girls are often ignorant thinking only that they now have a way to help their family while being unaware that these men don’t love them and are only using them for sex. It’s also a common belief that having sex with a virgin will cure AIDS and other STDs.

    • Corporal/Doctor/*censored*/*timing*/Magnificent/mr. cuddles of the Order of FailBlog/worshiper of the Power that Be/FB addict says:

Wait, so are you telling me that male stripper virgin a I screwed in the backseat of my car the other day didn’t cure my airborne gonnorhea?

      • Oh Mr Cuddles, so far you’re the only one who has been able to make me smile today. Why did your comment make me think of Stephen Lynch’s song Waiting? “I never should have blown that tranny in my Cadillac …”

        • ZombieApocalypse says:

Oh, I was gonna point out the clickie clickie, but it submitted prematurely. Gee, zombies rarely have that problem.

    • Black Garnets, the fanged bunny says:

That’s a problem around the world and in the US. Many cultures have taught women to seek the “rich older” man. I don’t think this PSA is targeting the virgin cure belief though. More like trying to avoid girls being taken advantage of in general.

  39. lolololololol says:

    did she die?

  40. Corporal/Doctor/*censored*/*timing*/Magnificent/mr. cuddles of the Order of FailBlog/worshiper of the Power that Be/FB addict says:

So I don’t know why my company hates this site so much. It was fine when they blocked it, but this, this is much worse. There is no pictures or video or anything on the site except words. I need a cuddle puddle to cheer me up :(

  41. Brute says:

I want to know what an older woman can give me.

  42. Mike says:

Yes! Get your AIDS infection from young men instead! It’s just as deadly, but your parents and priest will nag you less afterwards.

  43. Jocelyn says:

Because you can’t get AIDS or unwanted pregnancy from 18-year-old men….

  44. daniel says:

thing is – she looks old enough to be his mum!

  45. jenn says:

Those pdofiles…… are swarming with diseases you could evevn smell it……*pervs*

  46. kcwc says:

Thank you, Amytime. There are places in the world where this is a real problem. In Africa, for example, it is a relatively common folk belief that sex with a virgin will cure you of AIDS. The sadly predictable result is an epidemic of child rape.

  47. Someone tell this to Morshu the shopkeeper.

  48. Emperor, Tetragrammatron Cleric, Captain Teague. says:

Sheesh, is there anything positive about getting older?

  49. Sam says:

Well yea, but you can get all those things from young men too. Eh…. This fail sucks, I think. In lots of ways.

    • Charlene says:

So which rich, spoiled, privileged Internet College Male brat thought this was a fail? The ones that don’t realize there’s a world outside the US, or the ones who are convinced that Men Always Good, Women Always Evil Sociopathic Monsters?

  50.   says:

    yeah what is the fail?

  51. Melissa says:

    …and yet not entirely wrong.

  52. teh_hawtsauce says:

Those are just the cons! What about the pros….like free candy?!

  53. Andooshie says:

No doubt this is on the door of a retirement village in FL where the tap water flows with Viagra enhanced water and the old men pick up young ladies in their ‘98 Olds….

  54. General and FailBlog Treasurer BondFan4518 ♂ MP of the 3rd Witty Comments Countering Trolls Division, Earl of Huntingdon-on-Thames/BFF News reporter/The Speaker of the House/BIG BROTHER/The President of Gui says:

what a fantastic piece of fail

  55. convictus says:

This probably has is put up in a one of the countries that have working men that believe that sex with virgins will cure their Aids. This does happen in Africa right now, so I doubt this sign is as much fail as you think it is.

  56. MintySinty says:

    I really don’t see how this sign is fail… Condoms/africa/AIDs aside…

True, it takes two people to do it, but I think this is still kind of a good message. Though I’m tired of the lack of pro-safe sex education/signs. (mostly since abstinence only doesn’t work at all)

Just comes down to self-control and resisting pressure.

    • Johanna in exile says:

Abstinence works awesomely well, in America we call it WOW or World of Warcraft. For only $15 dollars a month you can ensure virginity for months, possibly years!!

  57. AJ says:

Wait, what?! How is this fail material? Is this trying to tell us we should LET older men have sex with school girls?

    • Mouse says:

No, it’s trying to tell us we should avoid talking about sex with our children (how embarrassing!) and LET a cardboard sign have that conversation for us.

      • Dee Bilter says:

I guess it doesn’t occur to you that fathers might just be the older men…

        • Mouse says:

In many cases that’s true, and a sign about how you’re going to get AIDS and DEATH isn’t going to stop your pedophile dad from raping/molesting you.

Once again, the point is the importance of the message on the sign is not the fail. The cheesiness of the presentation of the message is a bit of a fail – and in the unlikely event that this sign actually helps a single person, then we’ll forgive how ridiculous it is. The real fail is that the message needs to be said in the first place.

  58. cw says:

As someone working in criminal justice in midwest USA, older men do prey on young, gullible girls, teens with poor self-esteem or no adult comfort. I’m ashamed to be a man sometimes, there are just so many old men knocking up these girls, often several of them. Some are violent, some not, but all predatory & the girls can’t see it — till they guy dumps them for their 12 yr old little sister.

    • Mike says:

With muddled thinking like yours in the “criminal justice system”, it’s easy to see why the US has one of the worst teenage pregnancy rates in the developed world.

      • Dee Bilter says:

How is CW’s thinking muddled? He’s bringing to light a problem that many people are unaware of or in denial about, and he said he’s ashamed of his gender because it exploits young girls. Seems pretty decent and lucid to me.

    • PPKills says:

Don’t worry statutory rapists! Planned Parenthood is more than willing to cover up your crimes.

source: Lila Rose Live Action Films

  59. Randomness says:

I don’t really see this as a fail, after all, it is fully intended.

  60. Educated says:

This should be taken down from this site – I love failblog, but this is one thing that is really not actually a joke. This issue is a serious problem in some African metropolitan cities (and likely elsewhere too). English is a second language that is spoken in many of these places. Whether this sign is from here or abroad, as goofy as the sign may look, it’s not an issue that should be taken lightly.

    • M.U. says:

It’s not supposed to be a joke. It’s supposed to be FAIL. Nobody said older men giving schoolgirls AIDS was funny or wasn’t a serious issue. Let’s assume big problem in whatever country this came from. But that doesn’t make this sign any less of a fail. They tackled a tough social problem with a cheesy cartoon and a poorly thought out message on a cardboard sign… and FAILED.

      • Dee Bilter says:

Sometimes you get more attention with a cheesy cartoon than a serious speech. I think the message is pretty concise and clear and would appeal to young girls. You have to think about a target audience when you’re creating a vehicle for a message.

  61. T says:

    Not a fail. Please remove.

  62. JustInspired says:

This is a very common problem in the Caribbean islands. SOME young girls (secondary school 15-16 years old) do go after older men for money, clothes and trinkets – not because they are starving but just because they want those things. They compete with their peers to win the affection of men with money. The legal age of consent is 15 and as long as the men don’t interfere with a minor it is ignored by most of the population.

    • RayneJade says:

exactly what i was going to say. it’s a very serious problem that is actually attributed to low self-esteem and lack of awareness. and in the Caribbean country where i grew up, sex-ed was not taught in schools and many parents pretty much avoid the topic of sex on the whole. that is to say that many girls did not have access to this kind of information. that’s why public announcements like the one shown here are necessary to help raise awareness and decrease the number of young girls getting STDs from or becoming pregnant for older men. in my country there were announcements similar to this one even being aired on the national television station. there are cases where men as old as 40yrs even seduce girls as young as 12.
do forgive me, but i don’t see raising awareness to prevent crises as a fail.

  63. Jennifer says:

Its called being a sex offender!

  64. John Vincent says:

    Disregard this sign.

  65. Dfrtbx says:

    Why is this on failblog?

  66. phlox says:

School boys are still on the menu though, right?

  67. ts6788 says:

    OLd man here….stay away!!!!

  68. Bethy says:

SOOOOO…..What about Cougars….cause they always try to steal my boy!

  69. soprano_smurf says:

    *NOT* a fail!
What are you — a front page for pedophiles united?

FAILBLOG, you have f**ed up — time to apologise or lose quite a lot of your audience.

  70. rob says:

it reminds me of the propaganda posters put out in ww2 discrediting the Jews.
    this looks like christian propaganda

    • Dee Bilter says:

Well, suppose we put a priest collar on the man and turn the young girl into an altar boy. Same message: Children: Run from pedophiles!

  71. blahblah says:

This is not a joke, AIDS actually does fit appropriatly in here (you would get that if you read the poster)

oh well, I suppose some idiot sees the word AIDS and thinks its a fail, Its only a matter of time before a poster for the AIDS walk list is on here.

However, I must admit, it is not a great poster for getting children aware of pedofiles, they really could have done a better job, just nothing embarassingly bad to put it on this site

  72. Gretgor says:

As if younger men also didn’t give girls aids xD

  73. rayray says:

    so you guys are idiots
    my friend took this
and it’s definitely in america, not south africa
you guys are the definition of fail

  74. blah says:

This isn’t a fail. The sign said what it meant and meant what it said. If it had been talking about AIDES or something, it would have been more failish, but it wasn’t.

  75. rayray says:

i pity those who discuss whether this is a fail or not. get a life.

  76. thoop says:

Judging by the car in the reflection of the window looks like the vehicle is right hand drive model (remember its reflected) and also the picture on the sign looks like the car is driving on the left hand side of the road. So this would leave me to believe that it is from a few countries in southern Africa, the UK, Australia, India or another country that drives on the left side of the road. By looking at the building my guess is the UK but maybe South Africa. I’ll leave it at that.

  77. fasm,gnams says:

who gives a shit where its from?
anyone care to answer that question please.

  78. james herbertson says:

    a sign of the times

  79. ClariPossum says:

I think the general implication of this sign is that an older man who has a habit of coercing younger girls into sex would have been exposed to more of these diseases than a younger man, simply by his lifestyle. So it comes across to me as a warning to younger girls to be wise and not let an older man try to get in their pants unless they’re willing to commit. In my opinion, not a fail. Perhaps the sign is a bit in poor taste, at least it would be in American culture, but not a fail.

  80. huh? i don’t get it.

  81. bige477 says:

i would say the sign is halff in poor tast half silly

  82. Vehement says:

    Sexist FAIL.

  83. M.U. says:

This one’s a little subtle for some people I guess. You have to analyze a little deeper than “Pedophile BAD -> Sign GOOD” to see it.

  84. Bahamian Female says:

Firstly, I’m actually horrified to find that so many people jumped to the gun and said this was somewhere in Africa. It’s not. This sign is from the Bahamas [which is a Caribbean nation, in case some people here fail with geography too], where we have a huge problem with AIDS in general, not to mention the promiscuity of teen-aged girls having sex with/getting pregnant by/catching AIDS or any other STD from older men whom they view as their ’sugar daddies’. And these older men are quite okay with using these young girls too. Even with all the education and common sense telling them otherwise, both parties are too materialistic and lustful to realize the damage they are doing to themselves and their loved ones.

Asides from the jokes that can be derived from the exclusion of younger men giving you the exact negative things through unprotected sex and the picture on top that can lead to all sorts of comments [this poster still makes me laugh whenever I see that interestingly disappearing hand], this is far too serious of a poster for it to be considered a fail.

  85. UberOops.com says:

    That’s so wrong… LOL

  86. Jimbo says:

So screwing around with younger men wont give you AIDS? Stupid ad.

  87. Adam says:

Absolutely not a fail. This is a valid public announcement which is very important in African countries where sex with underage girls is rife. There is no fail here except for Failblog for posting it as a fail. Get it off now!

    • MRN ♂ says:

“Get it off” might be a bad choice of words here.

      • jam says:

        Especially around Brewski. 8O

        • Arthur Eld says:

Wouldn’t the people in this picture be black if it really was a sign in Africa or the Carribeans? Just wondering, because so many here immediately assumed that it has to be Africa.

          • chrexp says:

            Yeah, about that…..

There is a story from health workers going to Africa to help the local population, also educating them on how to prevent AIDS. They demonstrated the use of a condom by putting it on a broomstick.
Later they found out their demonstrations did not help, because the local people would put a condom on a broomstick, and then have unprotected sex!

          • Dee Bilter says:

Arthur, study geography and history. South Africa: colonized by England.

  88. annie says:

Off course younger men can give you Aids and STDs. But the sign is implying that if you’re in school and you have sex with your boyfriend who is also still in school, then the chances are that he doesn’t have nearly as much experience than a guy who is in his twenties or thirties, meaning it is less likely for him to have AIDS and STDS. Not unlikely, just less likely. And the sign is good, it uses a scare tactic.

  89. macadam says:

The fail here is that someone, somewhere, thought this was a solution to the problem of older men preying on young girls.

    • Dee Bilter says:

Perhaps not solution, but pretty fair visual aid. Or will at least plants ideas and questions in a young girls mind that she should ask her parents about.

  90. Scott says:

That sign should be quoted for truth! And it should be put up everywhere at every school.

  91. Joyene says:

I think this should be a WIN!

  92. Demut says:

This has my approval! More school girls left for me :D

  93. Michael says:

This isn’t a sign fail (although it could be so much better). It is a Society FAIL.

The fact that this problem happens at all is a FAIL. Needing a sign to warn against it is an Epic FAIL.

  94. Goldstubble says:

This poster wouldn’t go down well with the Japanese…

  95. CreepyMan says:

In addition to AIDS, old men often give their schoolgirl lovers gifts like jewelry and flowers!

  96. Matt says:

This sign is fantastic! I want a copy to hang on my fridge!

  97. Garro14 says:

AIDS was created by the government in an attempt to eradicate the homosexual community.

  98. Garro14 says:

Atleast thats what Family Guy says. : )

  99. xcvbdbrgh says:

(picks up machetes and acid bazookas) I AM GOING TO KILL THE PEOPLE THAT MADE THAT SIGN!

  100. BigD145 says:

    Republican fail.

  101. W0LF says:

You’d think with a sociology degree I’d be more sensitive to ways of foreign cultures but F-them. Aids is not a cultural value, just because your country is bassackwards on health education isn’t a free pass for you to put up idiot signs and expect us to pity you. A sign that implies Aids comes from old men is just as much a fail in Moronastan as it is anywhere else in the world, double-fail if your bassaakwards country has a major aids epidemic.

    • Sqwirk says:

The kind of older man who actively pursues teenage girls is

      1) more likely to have STDs

      2) is specifically targeting sexual partners who are more likely to be ignorant as to how to protect themselves

      3) is not going to disclose their own status if they are infected

Unless you are suggesting middle aged pervs that target school girls for sex are doing it out of their mature concern for the girls welfare?

    • Dee Bilter says:

How is the sign a plea for pity? It seems that it’s more a warning to the young girls who are being exploited and raped by older men who are infected. Imparting information to the intended victims is a good start on solving the problem. And I do want to reiterate that it’s only a start.

  102. Magatha says:

In some parts of the world, it is thought that a man having sex with a virgin girl is NOT ONLY SAFE in terms of not getting AIDS, but that it will also cure the man if he already has AIDS.

An inelegant sign? Sure. A fake problem? Oh, no. A FAIL? Only if you are either ignorant or callous.

  103. Mr Robinson says:

haha, that shit is something to any girl/woman should think about whatever the age of the sex partner. Idiots

    • Sqwirk says:

      You’re saying women are idiots?

Whereas older men who look for sex with school age girls are living the dream or sumfin?

I guess you think anyone who’s against that is either a prude, jealous (if they’re a man) or bitter (if they’re a woman)?

      • Dee Bilter says:

Against the sign, or against the fail? I think the sign is good. Warns innocent victims away from protential predators. I think the fail is wrong.

  104. Jake says:

I like failblog, but this is not a fail in anyway. This is a serious sign to warn uneducated people about the dangers of AIDS. The older a guy is, the more likely he is to have slept with someone else with AIDS, so that is why it is referring to old men only. There is a lot of child marriages going on, even in urbanized areas and the older the groom, the more likely he is to have AIDS and to pass it on to the young woman.

  105. smenj says:

And to think that I used to look forward to growing up!

  106. atalkingdog says:

In America many teen girls are drawn to men in their 20s.
the guy has a car and a job and money and stuff.
he’ll tell her how great she is and she basks in the approval.

  107. cdp1990 says:

“sitting on a park bench, eyeing little girls with bad intent.”

  108. jaja says:

BUT MOOOM!! THAT OLD MAN HAS MONEY !!! >.< UGH GUYS FROM MY AGE JUST DONT :(

  109. snokful says:

Why is this a fail? Sounds like a (sadly) necessary public service announcement to me.

  110. How are the sugar daddies out there supposed to get their groove on with these warnings?

  111. Jackie says:

How is this bad? It’s the truth!

    • Steph says:

To an extent. I completely agree that school age girls shouldn’t have sex with older men. Heck, they shouldn’t have sex at all in a perfect world!

But I don’t like how this is presented. It’s a scare tactic instead of simply informing girls what *sex* can cause (Not just sex with an older man). Now there are probably girls who think their father or older brothers will give them HIV if they hug them.

They went about it all the wrong way, but I do agree this is not exactly a fail. The statements they made were true because they could all happen.

  112. not a fail says:

I don’t really see how this sign is a fail either

    1. There is nothing remotely funny about it.

    2. It is clearly from a place with an AIDS problem trying to warn young girls about sexual predators.

  113. Barbie says:

Love this sign! No fail at all!

  114. Ahahahahahahahahaha!

I’m sorry…but for personal reasons this makes me laugh my *ss off! Makes me think of somebody I used to know.

  115. Angie says:

Oh my freaking hell! Is this the ONLY reason we should be concerned about this?

  116. Spikes to yuo says:

Ther’s something kind of Jack T Chick about this. Something other than the crap illustration, that is.

  117. Jennifer says:

I would classify this as a WIN.

  118. Selina Kyle says:

I think this poster may be from someplace in Africa, where not only is AIDS a real and pretty common problem, but there’s also this crazy folk belief that having sex with a virgin will cure one of AIDS, leading to situations like that which the poster hopes to prevent. (I think the logic is behind the practice is, since you contracted AIDS from having sex with an AIDS-infected person, having sex with a virgin will ‘infect’ you with purity and cleanliness.)

  119. Choco says:

Not a fail at all! In most cases of teen pregnancy, the father is college aged or older. Unsurprisingly, many teenage girls who aren’t particularly tempted by their male classmates will look to older men for maturity/financial security. But, as the poster is trying to point out, if a bit graphically, the kind of men who seek out younger girls are unlikely to offer anything but STDs.

No, the poster neither implies nor explicitly states that sleeping with older men is the ONLY was to get AIDS or other STDs.

  120. Kristen says:

What’s going on behind that sign??
