it’s a fail because personal computers can’t get to the webpage needed to log into the email, the only place that could get there was the library and then the IP address would be wrong, and not everyone knows how to use CMD to get your IP address.

Not much of a fail. On the surface it’s a bit of a fail so that’s why it was posted. But it doesn’t go beyond that because if you think about it, this could be in a dormitory where kids have access to internet elsewhere like the library or other floormates, so they could email using another computer. It could be possible that a particular room is having problems. I don’t think this Brittany girl would write something like this if she knew the person had no other access to email.

This isn’t really a fail. Internet isn’t working but inTRAnet can be up and you can have internal mailing systems (like i know google has that set up).

I work in I.T, our internet goes down quite often but if their running their own mail server chances are it will still send internally within their domain so i don’t see the fail

I agree. If your proxy server is down, then you cannot access the internet, but your email would still work, unless of course you were using webmail but why would you use webmail in the office? The only fail this is, is whomever posted it that doesn’t know the difference between a exchange server and a proxy server. DUH!

it’s probably an RA door for a dorm – at least that was my thought- and I know their pain. Also, there was something else written on the board that was deleted by whomever uploaded the picture. You can see the white blocks after e-mail, and the reflection of it on the wall beside the board >.>

It’s a college dorm, where there will be myriad alternative options within walking distance. Someone else’s room where the network isn’t down, for instance, or the wi-fi that probably works on the lawn of that same building, or one of the tens of thousands of other places that probably are easily accessed on campus.
Or maybe one the few dozen (or hundred) nearby coffee shops. I think this is Win, since Brittany clearly is laying down the law in the form of “don’t come to me with your petty problem.”

Our internet connections were down at work. We needed the new instructions, but they were never sent. I called IT to explain the problem & was told to send them an email so they could email the instructions to us because they didn’t know how to use the fax machine.

Like someone else already pointed out, this is probably not a fail. Most dorms, offices, hotels, heck even ISPs, can have services (such as email) in their own internal (ie. local network, etc) servers, so emailing may be perfectly possible.

its pretty much possible that the intranet is still working, so the coworkers can mail eachother (and have a ip-address), but they just cant reach the internet. so this is completely perfect.

I swear this is true:

I work in retail, and last year on December 24 — yes, the day before Christmas — the power went out. Not just our store, but the the whole area. So we called the power company, and they said it would be up to three hours before power would be restored…and then they said for more information, log onto their website.

Yes, we had some people in the cafe using the WiFi, but without the power…no WiFi.
