I bet she was listening to Paul Mckenna’s hypnotherapy audio book and forgot to take her headphones out. She’s self controlled now, it must have worked.
Who cares if you hear voices…as long as you ignore them! What’s that…hold on, the voices are talking! Ronald is putting the smackdown on me? He doesn’t seem real though!
This “fail” is obnoxious and mean-spirited… the person writing the ad is being honest about their situation. Would it be a fail to post an ad that says you’re paralysed? Or that you have seizures? If we’re going down this road, how about posting some photos of thalidomide babies as “development fail”, or people with Down’s syndrome as “intellect fail”?
I totally agree with you. Important point you make there.
At the same time, I´m glad at least the issue pops up and we make (more or less) innocent fun with the concept of hearing voices. We need talk to lift taboos. Hearing voices is something that will happen to any one of us if we f.ex.go without sleep for 3 nights. Mental imbalance is no more rare or strange than physical illnesses, we juat don´t talk about it, so it is a hushed-up unknown area, creating fear. We need talk
Its a fail because there is such a thing as being too honest. Imagine living in a world where a simple “hello” was usually accompanied by negative, personal information.
Thing is, everyone has “negatives” it is not a “fail” to be honest about your negatives, its a “fail” about the timing. Timing is everything.
She has probably had men interested in her in the past, but abandoned her once they found out about her mental issue. She’s simply putting it out there to save herself time and heartache. I don’t blame her one bit.
I don’t think that anyone who is quick to make fun of someone for something like this has any moral authority over anyone. EVERYONE deserves consideration and love.
I Don’t this this is a fair or valid evaluation though. That is like saying, I am going to die anyway, so let me kill myself now and save all the time and heartache. It sounds appealing but it is oversimplified.
Frankly, I would advise the person who wrote the add to not respond to anyone who would answer it.
My point was that for someone who down below was ranting about how people of faith (yes, I saw you zing Buddhism, too) have “no morals,” “no human decency” – to see that same someone so *quick* to judge and make fun of someone who is suffering from something they cannot help (the schitzophrenia, not the Christianity), well, it makes me not want to trust your “morals” at all.
This is harsh, but I consider people quick to jump on people for having medical conditions (and being honest with them) as having *absolutely zero* moral authority over me.
LMAO – really? I mean 1st I am not sure I was laughing because someone has a mental illness – why are you assuming that? Did I write that someplace? I don’t really remember making fun of her at all. I did say a person should not lead with their biggest fault, that is a FAIL to me. I also basically said, you don’t want to take a chance on someone who is attracted by your biggest fault – that is a road to codependency another FAIL.
But here you are on FAIL blog getting upset because this one entry apparently touches a hot spot for you. Do you consider all miseries off limits or only those that effect you personally? Either way, it seems a bit much for someone who is trolling fail blog themselves.
Qwerty is evidently one of those people who watch Roadrunner cartoons and then complain to the ASPCA about what’s being done to the poor coyote. J’accuse!
I’m going to take a minute and step up on my soapbox…
*gets on soapbox*
The general public slams Christianity and religion for supposed intolerence and slander, yet they themselves to the exact same thing! As a Christian, I am saddened by those who claim to know Christ, yet act the complete opposite of His message. Believing in God does not constitue mental illness…period. Believing in something greater than what the world offers is not insane. If you chose not to believe, I won’t slam you, but please respect my choice to believe differently. Thank you.
*steps down from soapbox*
*applauds*
I don’t believe in God, but I have nothing against those that choose to believe. I respect other people’s faith, and all I ask in return is that others respect mine.
*squeeze*
Believing in god does not constitute mental illness, no, that would be true. Hearing voices in your head does. Like that woman who said god told her to cut her infants arms off. And, yes, she did what god told her to do.
I believed in something greater than humans, “god”, and what did it give me? A perspective that nothing in this world really matters, that we are either going to heaven or hell when we die and this earth was the carpet to wipe your feet on. Oh, there is no great loss when some one dies, they are in happy-fun-land with Jesus, but if they didn’t have the faith or being “true christians” they’r in the roast…
I was going to be a minister once. I read up on the bible and religion in general, and came to the conclusion that I could not belive. Choice had nothing to do with it.
And what general public slams christianity?
I respect your right and your choice to belive, but in my opinion there are no reason to belive. I disagree with any spiritual path (as Fluffly calls it) that say humans are to be judged by faith and not works. I disagree with any path that try to belittle this life, the one and only life we are guaranteed to have. I mean no disrespect, nor do I wish to hurt, but… I kind of find faith in dieties… I really don’t have the vocabulary for this… ok… bluntly… I find it insulting to the human race, misanthropic and selfish.
If god were to show himself, herself or itself to me, I would belive. Worship? Well, that depends on the diety.
Go ahead and belive if you want to, but do it for the right reasons. Not because the bible say so, not because your parents say so, not because you were raised with it. If you belive, do it for the right reasons. If you have personal experience of god, good for you, you’ll go to heaven and get to watch me burn in hell. You have the right to belive, just… don’t waste your life away. It could be (and in my opinion is) naught but bronze-age fairytales.
I’ll get down from this soapbox now… I don’t mean to inject bad blood in this forum, but I kind of wanted this stated.
I believe in God because I have weighed the evidence of the universe and believe it is in His favor. I sought Him–I asked questions–I asked HIm to answer them. You can, too. I came to believe over time that the Bible is a credible document. Furthermore, I cannot deny the Bible’s power in my life or His work in my life, His answers to my prayers, His presence. And I believe in the news that we are sinners but that God loved us and saved us (the gospel) partially because it makes sense– there is no greater story of love. There has never been anyone as loving as Jesus. And the transitoriness and brutality of this world despite its beauty and kindness is best explained by what the Bible says.
God says He will judge us by our works, but we must accept HIM, which is the greatest work of all–loving Him. The second greatest work is loving others. Anyone who believes Jesus has saved them from their sins and is their way to the Father has done the work He has commanded us, and proof of this will be their love for others. If they do not love, they are liars and don’t know God, 1st John says.
The only way to do the works God commands (to be pure in heart, to love Him, to love others, to be perfect) is to start all over from scratch and be born again. Doesn’t that make sense? How many people have made great mistakes and want to start over? Isn’t it more merciful of God to make a way for people to do this, to become good no matter their state in life or character, than to simply judge them by pros and cons? And yet, if He were to pardon everyone regardless, including Hitler, would He still be just? Therefore, by requiring someone to pay the penalty, and deciding to pay it Himself by allow Jesus to pay the penalty, to die when we deserve death, God remains just. And by sending His Spirit to make people new creations filled with love, He is not only love, but He guarantees that those who are forgiven will actually be good. “We love because He first loved us.” And by forgiving all who will agree to be forgiven, He is forgiving and merciful. What a God! That is what the Bible says. Is it worth investigating?
Thank you to everyone who posted the Soapbox replies. You’ve restored a bit of my faith in humanity. I appreciate that my brothers and sisters in Christ are supporting our faith, even online. Also a big thanks to the Atheists and Agnostics who are polite enough to hold a dialogue with us, instead of bashing heads. And to the woman who wrote the ad the OP submitted, STOP MAKING THE REST OF US LOOK BAD!
You say they have restored some faith in humanity? Oh boy we have a long way to go before we can even consider that any humanity is left on this planet.
I must first say that I am sorry. You might find this post snyde, insulting and blasphemous. I apologise, but I want to have this stated, and I can’t find that mellow soapbox spirit today. Your post kind of ticked me off. Long week, long story.
And sorry if you find this as christianbashing, however I have found that there really is no seemingly “non bashing”, polite way to respond to points like this.
Here we go…
I cannot see the love of the christian god in the gospels. One thing is that the gospels brought the idea of a firery hell that didn’t exist in the old testament. No, the afterlife of the old testament is more like the Hades of the ancient greeks; everybody goes there. And to say that there has been none as loving as Jesus, if I recall he both cursed a figtree for not bearing fruit when it was not supposed to and making a whip by hand and driving traders out of the temple. I can see why someone would not want traders on holy ground, but this was not just a fit of rage. He left and made himself a whip, not just found one (John 2:14-15).
For a perfect being to create such a system where the greatest of all things you can do is love HIM. You elegantly countered the faith/works issue by saying that faith and love for the unseen creator is works. That could be seen. However it does not solve the initial problem of faith and the apperent judgement by it (you must have faith to be able to love god and by that love we are judged).
I can say that I knew god, but found it was my own imagination. I cannot find the specific line where you say that those who know god is those who love, but it brings a sour conclution: that those who don’t know god doesn’t love. To say that because I do not anymore know god, I am incapable of love is frankly incredible insulting. That is probably not how you meant to put it, but it is a surprizingly high rate of christians who say “you don’t belive in god, so you don’t belive in love?!”. I love. I love my family, my friends. I love the woman who probibly will be my future wife.
Also love exists. We can find and detect the things that lets us feel love. The thing we see is an increase of the protien called nerve growth factor (or NGF for short). We can not find anything like this concerning god.
The problem is not about the “born again” thing. Sure, one who leads a unhealthy life, unethical life or a life that will lead to (in loss of better words) damnation would probibly benefit from starting again. This is however a strange case, because the things that are concidered by christianity as wrong, mistakes and sins are, well, not so. Homosexuality, for instance, is something that two conscenting adults engage in. Why is that a sin? They love eachother and they aren’t harming anyone else.
To not love something you have no idea if it exists or not, and could possibly be a myth. Why is that a sin? No, in my opinion, being born again the way christianity tells does not make sense.
A friend of mine were in trouble. He used to do every drug on the market. E, amphetamine, hashish, opium, LSD… I had almost given up on him when he suddenly turned around. He lost all intrest in drugs, and why? He had a really, really bad trip, and he woved not to ever take any drug again. He is still an atheist, got himself a house, a good job and planning his life ahead. He was born again, not in the face of god, but in the face of a bad personal experience, evidence and reason. He still haven’t even smoked a cigarette or even taken a drop of alcohol in six years.
Just for the record, I don’t do drugs. I have never done drugs. I drink, but moderatly and extremely rarely.
Well, God made the system of sin in the first place, so how much sense does this “repayment” make? He could say: “ok, amnesty for anyone who say he or she is sorry.” so why would he need his other persona to impregnate a virgin with himself, so he could grow up and then be sacrificed to himself for system he himself has all power over.
And to sentence everyone to eternal torture, how small or great the crime is not justice. When you’ve done your time, paid your penalty, you’re out.
It is a good chance that Hitler is in heaven if it exists. He wrote himself that he did his duty as a christian by killing off every jew he could find, and why jews? Their people had, according to the holy bible, killed Jesus Christ.
Forgiveness. Lets say somebody stabbed me. I may choose to forgive that person, but that person does not need to agree to be forgiven. Forgiveness is something I or anyone can give, regardless if the one who hurt us agree to be forgiven. This analogy fail though, because the one who is hurt is the one giving forgiveness. If I, say, steal an apple(fruit, not computer) I should not need to compensate the a guy who was watching and yelled: “That’s wrong!”. I should compensate the person who got stole from. Now, if my great great grandmother stole an apple and the man who was then the owner, still alive and kicking, was asking me for compensation, and had asked her but also my great grandmother, grandmother and mother as well and gotten it from everyone of them… Yeah, I guess you could see my point.
He is not forgiving and merciful. If he was, then everyone would get to heaven after making real reparations. If I disbelive that there is a god he should be able, allpoweful and all, to see that I have no evidence for his existence (personal or otherwise) and either give me the evidence or forgive my disbelif. As it is said in your holy scripture I’m going to the firey hell, with demons and pitchforks, when I die, only because god had no intrest in shoving himself to me. Come to think of it, that would be his fault, and I should forgive him for not shoving himself…
Yes, what a god! And I have investigated it. The christian god is a god who drowned thousands, a god that forgives horrible people if they love him, a god that had his own son/himself tortured and killed because he could not bend the rules he himself created, a god who let a evil being roam free destroying his creation, a god who do not answer the prayers of the starving and let them die a horrible death.
You have the right to belive what ever god you like to belive in. I just don’t. I see no evidence for your god. The bible has been proven to be fallacious and unethical in many instances, and to use it to prove a loving god is a minefield. You pick and choose the verses you will take as true.
If god were to show himself, I could belive. Worship? That, as already stated, depends on the god.
Sorry if you found any of that insulting. I hope you belive for good reasons and not just because Jesus was a nice guy (I don’t really belive that he was, but…) and the bible say you should. Sorry Chrono if you found this “bashing” as well. I just want to express the problems I find in christianity. I’m not saying you are stupi, I’m saying “some of these things don’t make sense to me, and I cannot belive for belifs sake and the threat of a tourturefilled afterlife.”
And isn’t it curious how her perfect God “created” her with a mental defect that leads to her hearing voices instead of making her normal and well-adjusted like he should have been able to. Is this an oversight? a manufacturing defect? or was she a sinner in the womb?
well, her soul, the part created by god was created perfect. the “defect” was created by the emotional injuries she inherited from her (probably Christian) parents.
Is God is willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then He is not omnipotent.
Is He is able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is He is both able, and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is He neither able nor willing?
Then why call Him God.
- Epicurus, 33 A.D.
Wait – if Jesus is so loving, why didn’t he tell the world about germs? Germs have killed far far more humans than anything the things Jesus warned about or helped with.
Wait – maybe god lied to Jesus and didn’t tell him about germs because god knew jesus with all of his love would tell people about the germs and god wanted germs to kill a few more million people.
Wait – I guess it makes even more sense if these stories were just made up by a bunch of idiots who did not know about germs, but knew how exploit the dreams of other idiots.
Wait–maybe the idea of germs just couldn’t be fathomed by people 2000 years ago who didn’t have microscopes.
Wait–even if Jesus told them about germs, what could they do? They lived in a much dirtier time and couldn’t protect themselves if they wanted to. And who would listen? The idea of tiny things trying to kill you would probably sound even crazier than talking about being the Son of God.
LMAO – point 1, that is my argument exactly. Being so smart how did you not understand that obvious thing?
Wait are you saying god is only as smart as the people who are inventing him at the time they speak about him? Because that is really my other point as well. How did you miss that obvious thing as well.
point 2, I guess you don’t wash your hands or you assume they couldn’t even if told to.
point 3, yes you are right, i am sure jesus knew about germs, but didn’t want anyone to think he was crazy, so he kept the news to himself. You win you smart person you.
Truth is, the fact of germs and the fact that the biblical god did not warn people about them makes the biblical god the most masochistic, evil, and amoral creature ever imagined. But that should be no surprise, he also promotes slavery and encourages rape. Thing is, I don’t understand how he could be “god” and not have even a basic human decency (morality).
Sorry if i sound like i’m slamming your belief i don’t mean to in any way. I respect your religion.
anyway, have you ever opened a bible to a random page and just read a passage. It seems to tell me to kill myself or to live the life of a hermit with nmo contact with humans. Just wanted other peoples views on the random bible searchs.
There are thousands of gods and goddesses. How do you know which one[s] are actually responsible for creation? The foreign Middle Eastern god that Christians worship came along centuries after the others. How do you know he’s not plagiarizing the previous work of others and claiming it to be his own? His supposed holy tome is rife with inaccuracies, yet he clains to be omnipotent Given that how can you believe his claim of creation?

I must say, as far as “religions” go, Buddhism is my favorite. But to be clear, I mean “Buddhism” as Buddha spoke it, not the idiotic practices of the well known “Buddhism”. Buddha would be quite distressed at “Buddhism”.
Well, as a Buddhist, I don’t take offense at your ignorance, but feel obliged to comment. I don’t believe Guatama Siddharta would be distressed by the enormous number of practicing Buddhists around the globe (and for that matter, I don’t think the Buddha would be all that distressed about anything). Buddhism co-exists with Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Shinto, and plenty of secular atheists, to name but a few. (I’m a Unitarian Universalist Buddhist, and in fact have met a UU Jewish Buddhist married to a UU atheist.)
Buddhism as a practice emphasizes compassion and awareness, respect for all living things (including all people of all cultures, it’s worth noting). It includes no beliefs — the Buddha was empirically opposed to belief. There are tenets that are said to be provable to anyone who wants to through meditation and observation, and there are precepts — basically vows — which one can choose to take and understand how they impact their life and the world around them, but there are no laws, no commandments, no required ceremonies or rituals. Generally, when people think they are seeing these things in Buddhism, they are seeing cases where Buddhism co-exists with other religious and cultural traditions.
So, you may need to clarify what you are referring to as “Buddhism”. But, again, as a Buddhist, it doesn’t matter that much to me.
Right, so the problem with Buddhism is that in order for it to be effective, Buddha has to be an icon. That is a figure of adoration, which he himself would disavow because it obviously flies in the face of his teachings. However, Buddhists, like all religious people, are very good at lying to themselves and thus don’t see the irony of the situation.
I would argue that simply by using his name as a synonym for a religion you have put him on a pedestal – against his wishes. You give a perfect example, having never met him, you have assured yourself and projected onto me your confidence in your idol – Buddha would not be distressed. Your hypocrisy is distressing.
But I would like to go a little further. That is, I didn’t know or see or realize these cleverly hidden Buddhist hypocrisies until I saw interviews of Buddhists waiting in like a 2 week line to see some sliver of wood that Buddha has touched one time (or something equally ridiculous).
In the interviews they tried to be humble and tried to pretend they weren’t nothing more than an arrogant group of hypocrites, but they couldn’t wait to tell their personal stories of sacrifice to see this irrelevant Buddhist icon – whatever it was.
Each story was a badge of honor more desperate than the last “I have gone 3 days without food so I can see the Buddha stick” – “I walked 500 miles without shoes to see the Buddha stick” – “I sold my children into slavery so I could see the Buddha stick”
So how weird a thing must a person believe before you count it as a mental illness?
Are you crazy if you believe…..
- Unicorns existed
- you are Napoleon
- Eating shellfish offends higher beings
- Magical underwear can protect you from sin and knives
- We were created by space aliens who live in a Vulcano
- Jesus was born in the USA
- the sun revolves around the earth
- you can live for days inside a whale
- A higher power sometimes manifests itself in an oil spill or a piece of toast
- Higher powers helps you out personally, if you only ask. They will help you win the football game, instead of saving dying kids in Africa.
Putting politically correctness to the side for a while:
There _must_ be line past which you say “that person is batshit crazy”.
If you don’t have one, that means you past my line
ObiJan.
I too feel the force.
Great points. Great laughs.
What a lot of crazy talk.
But the woman aint crazy, she’s ill, and laughter they say is the best medicine.

Pretty much the same with me. One of my agnostic friends is bi (0.o)
but I get along fine with her. My atheist friend can be a handful. If I try to get into a discussion about religion, she says (and has said on at least two occasions) “I don’t believe in any of that religious CRAP… but no offense.” I like her, but…tolerance fail.
Well you are asking her to tolerate some seriously stupid stuff. Let us say the reverse was true and she had a firm conviction that the easter bunny was real. I am sure you could “tolerate” it as long as it was harmless and you would simply wait until she was out of earshot to mention how full of crap it is for an adult to believe in the easter bunny.
But now lets change it up a bit and give her easter bunny guns or say she has launched a crusade against people who suggest the easter bunny is brown instead of white and then she gets a group of her idiotic friends together and passes laws to take the rights away from people who doubt the easter bunny and she runs a campaign to effect the curriculum at the regional school.
Would you still tolerate her stupid beliefs?
This is why I no longer sit idly by and tolerate religious idiots and their stupid beliefs. Because the next thing you know they have banded together to kill another group of innocents or take away their rights or try to poison the minds of innocent children. All simply so they themselves don’t have to be honest.
This is horribly wrong and probably posted by someone who has no clue about mental illness and just how hard it is to live with. The jokes and heartlessness seen here is partly why. We are social by nature and need companionship. To exclude and make fun of those who are different only make things worse. As someone who has a chronic physical illness, I know you need to be upfront about it. I also know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of attitudes like those present here, just how hurtful they can be, and alone it can make one feel. It takes an extremely rare and special man to accept a woman as she is.
Religion shouldn’t even come into it. As a pagan I know what it’s like to be judged by those who don’t have the intelligence enough to ask questions first. No one should be judged merely because of their spiritual path. If you disagree with a path, that’s fine but no one needs to be persecuted because of it.
Personally, I applaud this woman for having the courage to step forward instead of hiding in a corner afraid of the world.
Christianity doesn’t constitute believing in God and only God. It is about; denying gay marriage, protesting abortion, launching ‘crusades’ (modern and historical), slandering the names of historical, real people that lived.
Do you think Jesus of Nazerith, the real man, wanted to be paraded around the world through stories told by violent, self-righteous invaders?
It is not Christianity I’m slamming, actually. It is organized religion, blind faith and the idea that ‘we can say whatever we want, but whatever you say is aggressive towards us and insensitive.’ It is the idea that Muslims have dibs on Mohammad, Chrsitians on Jesus and the Jews on Jerusalem.
I give your right to believe very stupid things all the respect it deserves. And you are right, it is possible for otherwise intelligent and educated people to be christian, but that is always the result of about 2 different things: 1- they were indoctrinated from birth and simply find it too hard to let go of santa claus or 2. they have or had some serious personal/emotional crisis that left them unable to completely cope with reality. Other than that, the only excuse to be a christian is out of idiocy.
So being a Christian does not mean you are mentally insane, but it does mean you are not honest with yourself or you are unable to cope with reality in some way. Which is why there is a strong correlation between religion and insane people and a strong correlation between not being religious and being educated.
You seemingly have a good point though – everyone should be tolerant, but there has to be a line. Using your line of reasoning, we could argue that we should tolerate a cannibal that shoots people down in the street and eats them right there in public. After all, they have a right to their world views and traditions don’t they? I argue, tolerating this cannibal is going too far and I honestly don’t see exactly how Christianity is any better than the cannibal.
It always amazes me how some of the most “open-minded” people in our society are truly the most close-minded, when it comes to certain things/ the popular things to slam.
And, before it’s even said, I *do* tolerate things I find to be weird in other people. That’s how a peaceful society works. None of us can be in complete agreement on everything.
I had an Orthodox Jewish friend once who was very concerned about her dietary strictures – really was worried that God would judge her if she ate cheese with meat, and while, being of another religion, I found that rather strict (nothing she should worry too much about), I took great care when hosting her to be careful about her food. I didn’t tell her she was stupid or crazy for her concerns and force-feed her ham just because it’s what I liked to eat, you know?
Faith is not mental illness. I know because I have both (I’m bioplar). The faith has helped me hold on (in addition to various secular coping mecahisms). I’ll admit that I’m “crazy” quite freely, but it’s not *because* I believe in a higher power. I’ve never heard voices and if I did, I’d go *straight* to my psychatrist before going to a church.
Even so, why all the superiority? People act as though all crazy people need to die out and/or all religious people need to drop dead so the world can be a better place. How “tolerant” and “open-minded” is that? Can’t eveyrone respect each other’s basic humanity? It seems to me that more people would rather make fun of the mentally unstable than urge them to seek help and that more (atheistic) people are more interested in tearing down religious people and “put them in their place” (and themselves on a pedstal) than in talking with them about the wonders of “reason” and converting them to their so-though better way of thought. Starting a conversation trying to do so that is peppered with “You’re all stupid/immoral/crazy” isn’t going to catch any flies. It’s like starting a conversation with someone with “You’re ugly.”
really? why can’t you tolerate my choice in what I am going to tolerate? Would you tolerate a person who said they could fly and then jumped off a roof? It would be less than moral to “tolerate” something so obviously wrong (people can not fly) and dangerous (people who think they can fly are a danger to themselves and others).
So why in gods name should I tolerate anything that is obviously wrong (women can not get pregnant without having sex, men do not return from the dead) and dangerous (Nazis used the sheep-like qualities of “believers” to kill millions, the 700 club actively denies people their rights and tries to brainwash innocent children).
You accuse me of having a superiority complex simply because I know how the human reproductive system works? Well if that is what you think – that anyone who knows basic biology has a superiority complex, then I am guilty.
However, I see it differently. I do not consider myself better than the average Christian – except perhaps in a strength or ability to accept “truth” even if it is painful. Or maybe I am just less gullible. Honestly, I am at a loss at why an educated person could believe they could fly or believe a “resurrection story”. There is no superiority there – just concern.
But your argument about superiority doesn’t wash, because obviously then by saying I am the one who is not open minded, you are putting yourself on a pedestal. But no – you are wrong, people can not fly. You are not a better person for thinking that or tolerating people who think that.
You both do realize this is like competing in the Special Olympics right? Just take the high road and make fun of each other and leave the soapboxes to the real world.
No. you see its like this. Some christians Hear voices. But they dont have mental illness. its god telling them that stem cell research/Abortion is wrong.
You know as a Christian my knee-jerk reaction was to challenge your view, but… your logic is pretty flawless. I DO hear voices. Well, “voice” singular, not plural.
I think it’s interesting how this woman’s “failed” ad has attracted so many people with strong religious views. I haven’t read such a impassioned and articulate debate on theology in some time.
I also agree with those who have said it is cruel to post her ad as a big FAIL. LoL! She’s not disclosing inappropriately and she’s not stupid — she’s mentally ill. But she’s got it under control. If that’s your cup of tea, give her a call. Apparently a lot of Christians hear voices, and have no problem with that.
There’s also a box in the corner of my room that talks to itself in different voices!
I’ve tried joining in the conversations but they ignore me
I evicted the box from my house, that soon shut them up.
its travolting, how young people behave today, going around playing faceless doctor…
Well in my days, we didnt even have the RIGHT to play that game, we were forced to sit in a circle and gnaw on our own foot for the entertainement of our parents
Does “self controlled” mean she refuses to take her meds?
Maybe she’ll get a positive response from this guy I saw last week, who wrote that he was “temporarily freedom deprived”.
At least they couldn’t hurt each other.
In isolated cases, it’s not stupid. Most times, meds make a lot of sense, but in the case where the person is having simple auditory hallucinations and no other symptoms, and at all times has good insight (i.e., knows they are generated by their own brain), medication may not be an absolute necessity. In cases where this has gone on for years without changing, and the person is functional the way they are, it may even be inadvisable to change whatever balance the person has achieved by giving medication. The thing with mental illness is that to be considered for treatment, a condition has to be either causing distress for somebody, or it has to be causing dysfunction; people who simply hear voices and are not impaired nor distressed by the voices don’t require treatment because they don’t meet those criteria. Weird but true. No distress, no dysfunction, no disease.
I think this shows that most Failblog voters don’t know anyone with schizophrenia. Even fewer know any who have gotten married after they were diagnosed.
I think you’re right. It is, though, the Failblog staff that makes the decision about what !mages to promote here to the main page, and the votes totals don’t matter that much to them. There are other !mages on the voting pages — !mages much less hateful towards any group of persons — that have many more “thumbs up” votes than this one had.
…and shouldn’t the FB staff be the people you direct your concerns to? I’m not saying you don’t have a point here (as mostly), but still. I don’t know if the FB staff will change their ways, but it seems to me that it’s even more unlikely when you complain here and not via email.
I have sent letters to the staff in the past, and offensive (viz., racist) !mages on the voting pages that I have brought to their attention remain there.
My comment to “BoringTroll” is in regards to the limited impact of voting. (Voting is something I’d also done, until I realized it didn’t make much difference.)
I don’t like making editorial comments here. I’ve offered them to the users who post to this site, though, to remind ourselves that we are tacitly supporting unkind and hurtful !mages and stereotypes by participating in the “fun” — something I don’t think I can do anymore.
I was about to contradict what you’ve said about us supporting the potentially hurtful imäges by commenting here. I was about to say that it matters what we say, not so much on which fail. But then I remembered that I once did pretty much the same thing – I left a comment on an ancient fail saying that I’m not gonna comment on that particular fail, because I didn’t want to make fun about the person in that picture.
Now I’m unsure whether I agree with you or not. Hmmm.
(And thanks, but what’s the point of your last sentence? Does it mean that you’re going to emigration again? Or that you won’t reply to me anymore?)
It’s always a question of where to draw the line. I could make a valid argument that most all the fails here have a victim of some sort, so are unkind and hurtful to somebody. We each have a different boundary. Personally, I don’t participate in any fails related to senility or dementia. It just hits a bit too close to home, and I can’t joke about it. I don’t think we can “sterilize” the blog. But I do agree that I’d like to see less of the most blatant violators. However, there are far more failblog visitors that enjoy these than those that don’t. And I understand Ben has a business to run, so he’s going to put up whatever gets the most hits.
BTW, FWIW, this one is near my own fuzzy (no reference intended) line. If somebody does have mental illness, you pretty much have to be upfront about it. But, she could have said more about her positive traits, rather than just saying “I’m sick, so you have to be okay with that.” It’s like saying “I have AIDS, seeking spouse.” …And?
I dated a mentally ill girl in college once, although I didn’t find out until we were on our (only) date. She had a paranoid panic attack at a party. Not a good scene. We left.
That’s it in a nut shell Brewski.
It’s just business, nothing personal.
I had hoped the voting process had some impact on the fail page posting but alas, it does not. On the bright side, I wasn’t called for failblog jury duty.
I had an experience with a kid who wanted to kill himself up at college. Bad scene all around. I had to follow him around all night talking him down and taking away various sharp instruments. When he sobered up I took him to counseling. I never saw him again and the college would not give out any information (understandably), not even if he was alright (not so understandably).
As someone who is married to a person that is bipolar, I have an issue with this fail as well. Not only that, but when it refers to my faith as well, it’s too close to home. Tolerance is something I’ve enjoyed here on the blog…mutual respect…and something like this one brings out the haters and trolls alike…
It hits close for me also (see below). But I also know those diagnosed with mental illness who ram it down the throats of others. If the idea is to know a person in all aspects, putting this subject so far up front may keep people from knowing you beyond it. Every thing she may do that’s apart of her personality may be blamed on the voices. Plus doing it in such an open forum like a newspaper with her phone number leaves her open to abuse from others. I may have not stopped dating my husband when I found out about his illness, but it would have been pretty difficult if he introduced himself as J____ with mental illness.
Dude there would be no humor in the world if there was someone not being made fun of kk. None. So i do agree that such illnesses as Bipolar(my uncle) and hearing voices(my grandmother) are a big and cause many problems In peoples lifes. Putting a taboo on humor becuase of it, sucks.
No maybe about it. The ability to reason and learn from past generations is what makes us human. If you choose to ignore that responsibility and go with “faith” instead, then yeah, you pretty much fail as a human being.
It depends on the “how”. For some persons “faith” actually means being closed-minded and anti-rational; for others it means understanding, and be open to, the fact that there are human experiences of intimacy, beauty, and meaning that are more simple and more original than thoughts or opinions.
A very practical example of the latter are meditative practices — allowing oneself to come into a more direct and intimately appreciative connection with life than is typically accessible to typical habits of “reason” or inherited “learning.” Though not as commonly practiced today in Christianity as in, say, Zen Buddhism, there is nonetheless a deeply rich history of such techniques in past centuries in Christian cultures (and still present among Quakers, Carthusians, Orthodox contemplatives, and others).
Seriously: Why would it? If you know anything about the scientific process, you should know that the inventor of a theory has to give supporting evidence as well as someone who contradicts said theory. Why should it be any different when it comes to the question of God’s existance?
Face it: You cannot prove the non-existance of God. Therefore atheism is arrogant – besides the arrogance of claiming absolute certainty about something you can’t prove, it’s also pretty arrogant to insinuate that the 95% (my estimation) of all human beings that have ever existed who believed in some kind of supernatural being(s) are wrong and you are right.
well technically all except the agnosticans (who say that you cant tell if there is a god or not) are arrogant, be it atheists “there is no god” or christians/other religions “Our god is true, the other religions are wrong”.
There’s an exception for religious people: If there really is a God, He could easily choose to talk to a human being and He could choose to do so in a way that leaves NO doubt to the recipient that He exists, even if there’s no chance of proving it (it’s the same with feelings like love or hate – you can’t prove them, but if you feel them there is no doubt about them).
Then a person could say “God exists. Period”. And all that’s left for an atheist to reply is “You lie”. Or blame psychological or biochemical processes – without being able to prove any of that.
So, there are us Atheists who believe that there is no god, religious people who believe that there is one (or more in some religions) and you agnostics that have absolutely no idea whats going on (NOTE: this is a joke, do not take it as an insult).
Almost. As long as someone only claims he believes or disbelieves, it could be seen as a form of agnosticism, because believing something (or not) leaves room for being wrong. It’s the same when someone says “I don’t believe that England will lose this world cup final against Germany after penalties” and then exactly that happens.
But yes, fully thought through agnosticism means having no idea on a pretty high level.
God, the stoopid. Intel is not a dump-stat, by the way.
Know anything about the scientific process? Apparently not. Allow me to enlighten you a bit:
1. YOU assert the existence of a god.
1a. Ergo, you posit the theory of your god’s existence.
1b. Ergo, YOU bear the responsibility for producing evidence to support your theory.
So don’t try to foist off a negative proof (which is, by definition, impossible) as some protective shield over your lame choice of faith. It isn’t the rest of the world’s problem that you’ve chosen a path that happens to be misled. Most of us will be happy to help you escape the hucksters and fools, but for the most part we’d be happy if you just kept that insanity to yourself and dealt with it on your own.
Perhaps you should turn that little mirror of yours around and point it at yourself – the arrogance isn’t in the atheists. What you’re seeing there is the impatience with buffoonery such as what you’ve just presented. It’s pretty arrogant to insinuate that your dusty little book from a bunch of bronze-age nomads should be taken at face value, and that it is someone else’s responsibility to disprove you, and then to go flinging insults like “arrogant” at people who laugh at you.
Read what is written, see if your queries have been addressed elsewhere in the thread (Arthur has stated that he is Agnostic, rendering the rant in your last paragraph pointless) and then shout all you want. Research is an important part of the scientific process, not calling people a buffoon as soon as you see a statement you don’t like.
As for negative proofs, have you heard of ‘proof by contradiction’?
There is absoluterly no need to be sorry! This is no one man show, you are always welcome to contribute! After all, you’re my all-time favorite Moomin!
First of all: Continue reading the conversation above before you rant. I’m agnostic, leaning towards believing the non-existence of God. But I may be wrong on that – I’ll see the truth when I’m dead.
Secondly: No. As I said, the process of scientific knowledge-building demands that anyone who establishes a theory has to give evidence for it, as well as everyone who contradicts that theory. Simply saying “no, it’s not like that” may be an opinion but no contribution of scientific value. Notice: I said “evidence” where you (sometimes) said “proof”. I did so because a scientific theory can never be fully proven (unless, maybe, it’s math) – it has to be open to falsification (read Karl Popper on that topic).
Thirdly: Neither in astrophysics nor in quantum mechanics we have a consistent theory that explains everything. Even more important, we don’t have the Grand Unified Theory yet. So there is no scientific way today to fully explain everything that exists – we got closer to that in the last years, but still have a long way to go. Of course, the religious explanations are also unsatisfying from a scientific point of view.
Last point: “Arrogant” may sound like an insult but it’s not meant like that. It is supposed to describe the fact that both, atheists and religious people, claim certainty where there can be none (if they’re saying “God exists” without having experienced a personal epiphany / if they’re saying “God does not exist”).
I’m a lumberjack and i’m ok
I sleep all night and i work all day
I cut down trees i eat my lunch
i go to the lavatory,
on wednesdays i go shopping
and have buttered scones for tea
Fuzz I don’t think you have to be schizophrenia to hear voices. Dejavu? is a visionary clue to either a warning or a blessing.
Almost all religious faction has some sort of guides from an unseen entity so therefore gang raping Christianity is not a valid form of a comment?.
Yes, that would (almost) work. But it’s spelled in three different ways: Tschüss, Tschüs or Tschüß. I don’t know if one of these spellings is considered to be the only truly correct way. It’s just my mother tongue, how am I to know?
I guess I don’t see the humor in someone else having a brain disorder. Schizophrenia is a disease and this person is obviously suffering and apparently lonely. What’s so funny about that? Can we save Failblog for truly funny stuff? Pleeeez……
She’s being honest about a significant problem, instead of hiding a condition that would normally be presumed not to be present. To get someone emotionally involved without revealing such a thing would be morally questionable.
That’s nothing, I once saw one online that basically said all that plus she had kids, is on mental disability, and feels blessed her parents didn’t have an abortion.
She could say the voices in her head are the many voices of God. Then the Christian men will be queuing aound the block. It’s not hard, they believe anything.
Hearing voices didn’t do Joan of Arc any harm, as long as you don’t count that misunderstanding with the stake and the flames and the jeering crowd thing.
Mother? I think I found a woman that I like very much. I’d like to invite her to dinner. I refuse to speak of disgusting things, because they disgust me! You understand, boy? Go on, go tell her she’ll not be appeasing her ugly appetite with MY food… or my son!
Shut up, mother!! Shut up! I know what to do. We’ll go to the cellar. Please, mother, it’s just for a few days. ‘Just for a few days’? In that dark, dank fruit cellar? No! Put me down, Brewski! Put me down!
This is a serious illness people! I’m glad her voices help her date. And I’m sure the tin foil hat she wears is lovely.
But seriously, as a person who works with the mentally ill, the fail is in putting her illness in the ad. Congrats on her seeking to date, but placing it in the ad opens the door for abusive people to contact her and try to…abuse her. Those I know who date try to save it for a date or two so the person has the chance to get to know them, not the illness.
As a professional, friend and wife of crazy people, and a currently crazy person, it’s still a damn fail!
I’m surprised to hear you use the word “crazy”. Not a particularly sensitive term.
But yes, to me the fail is listing that she’s ill, and not saying a damned thing about why anybody would want to date her. Except, perhaps, “Christian”. But that was just as a prerequisite for application.
Mentioning the religion and hence insinuating that being a christian is extremely important to her is more likely to stop me from calling someone than a mental illness.
I find it seriously tacky that you all are joking the way you are. Mental illness is not funny and very stressful to those who suffer from it. They struggle with every day issues and want to be normal more than anyone one of you could every imagine and take for granted. HAVE SOME COMPASSION !
My mother is crazy. I.E. Mentally Ill. Has been my entire life.
Talk to me about compassion when -you- are the one who gets grounded because ‘you don’t want to talk to the angels’ or when -you- get yelled at for ‘disbelieving in the healing Jesus does through my television set.’
Seriously. When -you- have to deal with it for your entire life, then you can preach about who jokes and who does not.
Until then, I will laugh as much as I damn well like. It’s -my- coping mechanism. Mind your own damn business how I use it.
No, she should take some meds to get rid of those voices. If she choses to “self controle” and keep hearing things then I pitty the person who trys to take her on.
First, psychotropics have more than one effect. In fact, it’s generally acknowledged that if John Nash had taken the medications initially presented to him, not only would he have lost his ability to do abstract mathematics but he would not have ultimately made as much of a recovery as he did.
Second, the only problem that we know of this woman having is auditory hallucinations, those are by themselves less disabling that, say, deafness.
So, no, she probably shouldn’t trash her brain just to stop hallucinations.
No, she shouldn’t flaunt it in a personals ad for the public to see and take advantage of.
‘Hi, I’m Chris McChristopher, and I have Herpes. Wanna hook up?’ is a BAD way of breaking the ice. It’s no different with Mental illness, especially with these sorts of mental illness.
Is it a lack of compassion? No. Far from it. It’s use of common sense and presenting yourself. It’s ‘fail’ because it’s self-destructive to do this sort of ad, and it’s more likely to creep out someone who might otherwise be inclined to date them.
Fact is, for -every- one of you saying ‘Hey, let’s just give her a hug’ not one of you, NOT A GOD DAMN ONE are saying ‘Hey, maybe I should ask her out.’ Because in your heart you KNOW you’re either just doing it out of pity, or you feel like you’d be exploiting her, because you -know- that you’re turned off by that ad.
NEWS FLASH: If you’re turned off by it, the ad is a fail.
Put most technically, one could say schizophrenia is a cause of psychosis, with “psychosis” being the more general term for a disordered mental condition that entails a markedly distorted perception of reality. But it makes little to no practical sense to say schizophrenia is not psychosis; schizophrenia is the pre-eminent example of a psychotic condition. And while there are several different forms of schizophrenia, “hearing voices” is a most classic schizophrenic symptom.
Not cool, failblog. Not cool. The only thing fail about this image is that the woman said man and partner right next to one another. Many people live with schizophrenia and are forced to be productive in society because of the stigma associated with mental disorder. Being able to talk about it and be upfront with it is the only way to destroy that stigma. I wish you would take this one down in order to help stop that stigma. Honestly, I will laugh at a million things from junk-shots to cannibalism, but the stigma surrounding mental disorder is not one of them.
And of course, people are gonna start associating mental illness with Christianity. Again.
Look, as a Christian who has a mental illness of his own (bipolar), I gotta say that this isn’t funny. First off, I’m one of the few people in my church who has something wired the wrong way in the brain. Everyone else is perfectly normal, and these are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Not to mention they actually know what they’re talking about when it comes to the Bible.
Believing in God isn’t something that constitutes mental instability. Heck, in my opinion, it’s the most mentally stable choice one could make. Of course, I also believe in the Big Bang/Big Crunch thing. And that means I believe that if there is no God, there is no free will either. Things will have repeated at some point in the past with a finite amount of matter and energy. Talk about shoving off responsibility for your actions, eh?
So…you believe in the tenants of science (Big Bang Theory) when they are convenient and universally-accepted, but not when they conflict with the pre-conceived notions of your faith? And isn’t rejecting the concept of God an act of Free Will in itself? I would insinuate that perhaps something in your brain is wired the wrong way, if you hadn’t already beat me to it.
I have to disagree. No one who knows anything significantly important about the bible would put it at the center of their faith.
Also, it is a flight of fancy to imagine that the big bang implies no free will. The big bang, as a rather solid theory, can be an integral part of millions of other theories many of which allow for free will.
Your postulate is akin to saying – the only way for the lawn to get watered is if I water with the hose. Well, no. You could water it with a bucket. Someone else could water it. It could rain. There are a million theories which could result in a wet lawn.
Okay, for the humor impaired…the “fail” is the juxtaposition of “Christian” with “woman who has mental illness and hears voices but is self-controlled” in the ad, which is a derogatory description of many types of Christianity (you know, they types where the believers say Jesus talks to them). It has nothing to do with saying mentally ill people don’t deserve companionship–it has to do with inadvertently comparing Christianity with schizophrenia.
I agree completely. She’s just trying to do what everyone else does, namely, find someone to relieve the loneliness and alienation. She was dealt a bad hand, but she’s able to make jokes about it, which shows she has some perspective, as well as a sense of humor. Some people just don’t get it, but someone who DOES just may respond to the ad.
Believing in God = Mental illness in my book. Sorry if that offends but when you get down to it, REALLY believing in God, having conversations with an invisible ‘man’, feeling ‘his’ presence is a form of mental illness.
The examples of humanities delusional capacity:
The Aztecs sacrificed virgins for soil fertility, the Christians burnt witches as they communicated with the Devil, rivers and mountains were formed by giant snakes etc in Aboriginal culture and the Egyptian gods expected embalmed Pharaohs to meet them on the other side of the river Styx.
It is beyond obvious that none of the aforementioned delusions were anything but that. They were believed in by humans no different from us and with the same amount of sincerity expressed in the belief of today’s gods. We have an inbuilt propensity to be brainwashed into believing just about anything that can be proposed.
You only find it offensive because you are not being reasonable. The Pig doesn’t mind being called a pig. When someone is being stupid they should not be offended when someone mentions it.
100% spot on, MakeTheMostOfLife. So, what’s wrong with cosmological awareness? It’s the same with New Year celebrations. Every time the planet is in a certain position in its orbit around the sun, one species on its surface goes crazy with imbibement of poisons and over-eating and stuff. Jeez! This species is idiotic with regards to its “traditional” forms of entertainment. An awareness of mankind’s place in the universe would be very welcome now it’s the 21st century. Perhaps even an awareness of us on a globe where there is always some part in daytime and another in night. But, no, we don’t even have that yet…. Just our own selfish local concerns, as if our own notion of community, village, city or country is a true reflection of the planet at large. We are pathetic, especially if we regard ourselves as the most evolved species on the planet.
Well, she sounds okay actually. She’s upfront about it, taking responsibility for it, and more importantly, doesn’t seem to be confusing the voices with her god.
Maybe you missed the part where she admits to being a christian. At least you should look for a person with morals and not a member of the most murderous organizations invented by humans.
Ah, so any given athiest is automatically complicent in the actions of Stalin? How about equating all Germans with Nazis?
Morals. Does anybody have them? My experience with faith tells me to “Love my neighbor as myself” and to “live at peace with all.” I have never once, to my knowledge, murdered anyone.
But, as I said in my main comment, I expected the anti/religious bigotry here. My main offense is with the treatment of the mental illness aspect.
I have the email notification turned OFF, so I will probably never see replies to this. I just had to say my piece. Toodles.
see the part you dont understand is the difference between a factual classification and a prejudice. For example, not all germans where nazis, but all nazis were christians. So calling all germans nazis is just uneducated.
So here is the thing, it is obviously immoral to lie or promote lying, but to be a christain you have to put faith in and defend the biggest book of lies ever defended. Thus, christians are immoral.
Also I didn’t say that every christain was a murderer, even if they are liars, that doesn’t make them murderers. The organizations of Christianity, however, those are the largest, must murderous organizations known to man. The Nazi party and the KKK are just two very famous examples.
As for you not seeing any response, of course, that is what I would expect from a christian, because your religion requires that you learn this, among any coping mechanism to help you hid or avoid the truth.
I checked back here, and… well, there’s so much mistaken in your post, I’m just don’t know where to begin.
But you’ve made it obvious that you’re a bigot anyway, and bigots tend not to listen to anything that doesn’t fit their sterotypes. So, you’re a lost cause.
Yes there are problems with my post, but I am not sure how spelling/grammar mistakes help your case. But if you feel you have found some other mistake, please be blunt. As a non-christian I can handle the truth.
Maybe I should take this opportunity to refine my argument that christians are immoral, by definition, if that makes you feel better. Christianity is simply an organization to perpetuate someones lies – that for some reason made them feel good. There is no other purpose to it. With such an obviously immoral objective, by definition, all practitioners are also immoral or just stupid.
OK, yes, if you can just admit you have the education or intelligence of an 8 year old child, then I think it is possible to have some semblance of a moral code AND be a christian, otherwise it is not possible.
Also, calling the organization of Christianity out on its lack of morality does not make me a bigot, simply better educated than you AND willing to discuss this honesty and frankly in a fair and truthful fashion.
Of course, anyone who does not read the bible or even the ten commandments might not recognize that Christianity is immoral on the face of it. So just in case you are one of them, let me tell you some things your god approves of that are immoral – besides lying. Your god loves slavery. He says it is a good thing. This includes rape, which is an obvious component of slavery, so god and jesus loves rape as well as slavery. Well I think that is immoral enough don’t you?
I mean I have made the case in this very thread that they are masochists, so I can throw that in as well, but that goes without saying from slavery and rape masochism is a tiny decoration on top.
Finally, if you have any evidence that I have made a mistake in any of these posts, please – I beg you, try to show where I am wrong. Not only am I confident that you don’t know what you are talking about, but if by some miracle you do, I relish in the opportunity to learn.
I don’t understand how a person can be a liar in the moral sense if the “lie” they spread is something that they truly believe to be the truth. That and a bit of historical inaccuracy is all I found fault with, but I’m not entirely clear on that bit of historical contention, myself.
I am quite educated, actually, and a sincere spiritual seeker. I have read the Bible cover to cover and studied it. I know about the unplesant parts. Every different sect has different ways to reconcile and interpret what’s there. As for me, I’m currently non-demonminational, and I may, in fact, be on my way to becoming a good little agnostic eventually, but I’m not quite there yet.
I have to wonder if you were molested by a priest or abused by Christian parents or something. I’ve yet to met anyone who was militantly anti-religious who didn’t have some kind of personal stake in it. If that is so, I am very sorry that such terrible things happened to you, although I contend that I am not personally to blame as before today, I did not know you. If so, I can understand your need to lash out.
But, that’s my personal sterotype, which I know could be wrong. Are you afraid of meeting people who challenge your personal sterotypes about Chritians?
Most atheists and agnostics I’ve met are not actively hostile toward religious people. They just don’t believe, and that’s fine. I get along with them well and call some such people my friends. But someone like you…
I don’t even know why I’m replying to you, this statement alone:
“OK, yes, if you can just admit you have the education or intelligence of an 8 year old child, then I think it is possible to have some semblance of a moral code AND be a christian, otherwise it is not possible.”
Tells me that you are *at least* as ragingly bigoted as you must think I am.
Therefore, I don’t know why I’m here bothering to talk to you, as it’s all pointless.
HA! Yes, you could be wrong and I would argue that you are. However, if your last message is at all honest then I completely misread you. So I will bring it down just a notch. Also, let me say, when I say “you” I generally mean the random christian who might be reading the post and not necessarily “you” – Shads- unless the context dictates.
Let us take a look at this thing you use to decry my “bigotry” – the clause of an 8 year old christian. If you think about it, this exception that I made is obviously designed to account for your first concern:
————–
I don’t understand how a person can be a liar in the moral sense if the “lie” they spread is something that they truly believe to be the truth.
————–
I agree. I am saying, however, that unless a person is mentally retarded, by the time a person is 8 years old they should be asking questions that reveal things like – Santa is a lie. It is far too obvious that the bible is nothing but lies for me to simply accept that any adult really believes it. It was obvious to me by the time I was 8 – 10 at most
Just like I do not believe Santa has flying reign deer, I reject the notion that an educated, intelligent adult can HONESTLY believe the bible. It is pure nonsense. The only way any adult can be a christian therefore, is though some malicious intent, some mental deficiency, denial, or through apathy.
Let me talk about apathy first, because it seems like the most important one. I would argue most people are christian simply because they don’t care enough to study or put any serious thought into it. Christianity is the popular thing in the “west” and without looking into it seems like the best bet, so what the hell, just be a christian. This is a far cry from not knowing, this is just not wanting to know. I argue that it is immoral to not “want to know” about the foundation of your personal moral code.
The second group, the deniers, well – they are rampant in the “community” and I feel bad talking smack about them, but they are the single biggest problem in the world today. So they have studied the bible but cant face the truth of it, so instead they pretend it is real. They turn a blind eye to the very real problems with the bible and march on with their fantasy – regardless of the consequences – death – murder – etc.
Think about the proverbs (non-secular) “turn a blind eye” and “people do stupid things for love”. Anyone who has been in “love” knows that it is a powerful emotional force that makes people do stupid things – causing otherwise intelligent people to act irrational and to ignore facts and logic. They let their dream of what they want or wish override what everyone else can see are the facts. Is it no coincidence that people “love Jesus”? Why is it considered unprofessional to date coworkers (for example)?
When people say – “love jesus”, they really mean, get stupid for god. No one has ever converted from a non-believer to a christian out of logic or reason. If someone converts, it is because they can’t handle reality and they need some dream to hold onto and Christianity is the most successful dream going.
However, lying to yourself is not moral. It is just a way to rationalize the things you want to do, not a way to be responsible about the things you actually do.
Let us talk about malicious intent. In my family we were raised with an ambivalent eye toward religion. We were nether pushed towards it nor were we pulled away. I remember going to bible school once on the invite of an elementary school friend. I was neither encouraged or discouraged from going.
My sister though, a very bright but I would say selfish and basically egotistical person, eventually found herself at the end of her rope. Having burned every bridge, she eventually landed in the lap of Christ.
OK, I tolerate her “revelation” and I don’t confront her much, but it is plain to me, a person who has known her all of her life, she uses the church to get what she wants. She is smart enough to twist the bible to her desires and the sheep that follow do her bidding. I don’t believe that she believes it for a second. She is the one who opened my eyes to exactly how evil religion is.
For her, it is the greatest ego trip in the world, she is the word of god, and for her minions, they get to fulfill her petty desires and whims and feel good about themselves because she was about to out think their biblical arguments which means she knows the will of god. It is a very disturbing thing to watch.
So the molestation thing? What else did you accuse me of? No – sorry, like I said, you are wrong, its not bigotry or a hatred that causes me to lash out. What I see is a bunch of people on a bus and no one is driving and it is headed for a cliff. So I am yelling at them, but they are watching TV or something and don’t want to listen to the crazy guy yelling about the cliff. But don’t ask me to stop yelling – it aint going to happen.
The big problem with me is that I am naturally too honest. I don’t like lying and I think the root of all evil can be traced back to lies. If we can do something as simple as recognize the importance of honesty, I think it would solve nearly all of our other problems and those it doesn’t solve, it will give us (humans) a good tool for solving them – negotiation.
So when I realized there was a correlation between the really bad people that I know personally and how religious people are, it really started me re-thinking that religion should not have the moral high ground. Then after years of research, I did the math and discovered, religion is not the innocuous thing that the blind masses think it is. It is a cancer on the human population – one that should be eradicated aggressively.
Actually, it started a few years after my sister made some preposterous claim about how the Roman Empire was brought down – collapsed – because it persecuted Christians. She had read some historian who had analyzed all the “signs” that a civilization was “falling” and the Roman persecution of the Christians was one of those “signs”. This is the type of thing I use to ignore as innocuous.
It turns out though, in last 100 years of the Roman Empire, it was ruled by Christian Emperors. Say what? How could a historian get it so wrong? Persecution of the Christians was not a symptom of a collapsing civilization – that had stopped long before the collapse.
In reality, the Christians ran the Roman Empire into the ground. They (the Christians) had ignored many of the important things that had made the Romans successful. For example, under the “pagans”, the Roman Empire was very tolerant of other religions. Under Christians emperors – hell no, be a Christian or die.
That is why the Roman Empire evolved into the Holy Roman Empire, which was also the seat of Charlemagne. Why is Charlemagne important? Because that is the 1st Reich. Surely you heard of the Nazi 3rd Reich. Did you never ask yourself where and who were the 1st two? German history was long and thorough, how could there only be 2 Reichs? Well because this is a Christian thing, talking about Christian Kingdoms and Charlemagne founded the 1st.
Well why don’t you know that Christians ran the Roman Empire into the ground and why don’t you know that the Nazi Reich was a direct descendant from that Christian rule? Because we live in a Christian country that doesn’t like to tell people about the bad things Christians do. That is why the general population is ambivalent to Christianity and most agnostics and atheist are “polite” rather than “militant” like myself.
One final caveat if I may. I only accept the term militant as long as you accept that I am perfectly open minded and if a single Christian could ever come up with a more-than-childish defense of their religion, I could be convinced that not only is it not evil, but that it is also the true word of god. However, no one has ever come close to even forming a decent argument – certainly not C.S. Lewis.
Oh, here you go, a small excerpt from the Nazi party manifesto. This is basically the constitution of the Nazi Party:
————————-
…The Party as such advocates the standpoint of a positive Christianity without binding itself confessionally to any one denomination.
————————-
More specifically:
————————-
E.2. Complete religious and intellectual freedom.
E.3. Particular protection of the Christian confessions.
E.4. Repression of religions which offend the German sense of decency and whose contents are destructive of the German state and national character.
————————-
So you could theoretically throw yourself on the well known open-mindedness of the Nazi party and have some other religious affiliation (hoping it doesn’t offend the Christians) or you could be a Christian. You may notice that point E4 eradicates point E2.
I am wondering why some of my posts and replies got erased. A glitch in the system, perhaps? I said nothing with any more unreasonable a tone than what anybody else has said. I even learned something, which is always fun, although I remain in dissagreement with my debate opponent.
My original Failure in Communication got lost, as well. It it I only expressed annoyance at how quick people are to make fun of someone being open and up-front about a mental illness. All the religious-wank aside, that is what annoys me. I believe this is the very first time I’ve seen FailBlog itself FAIL. Spectactlar irony.
Some of my replies got erased. This is the first time I’ve commented on any of these blogs in depth, so maybe there was a cut off for replies. I don’t know.
Anyway, I’m bored now. Moving on. Rant to the wind if you’d like.
I think its funny how SHADS himself brought up one of the best proofs for the lies and Hippocratic card-house of Christianity (and how no one realized):
Child molesting priests.
And I don’t mean them as the proof, but the way how the church (as far as I know they are actually all Christians) lies about them and handles the cases “internally” (meaning that the priest does definitely not get the punishment he would in front of a civil court) for hundreds of years by now… and why they do it? Because they are merciful? No, just because they don’t want their sheep to notice that there might be something wrong with what they tell them.
@Molly the Ghost
You are right. Christianity is yet another method of believing that your crops will grow when Spring returns. Anachronistic nonsense. All “production” religions are the same – equally anachronistic and irrelevant in the face of today’s urgent need to understand that we are not the only sentient beings in this universe.
I think its funny how SHADS himself brought up one of the best proofs for the lies and Hippocratic card-house of Christianity (and how no one realized):
Depends on what they say…
I bet she was listening to Paul Mckenna’s hypnotherapy audio book and forgot to take her headphones out. She’s self controlled now, it must have worked.
don’t speak like that,
i love my sister
I love your sister too. So do I. And me. Me too.
We need talk
bingo, you win the prize
Its a fail because there is such a thing as being too honest. Imagine living in a world where a simple “hello” was usually accompanied by negative, personal information.
Thing is, everyone has “negatives” it is not a “fail” to be honest about your negatives, its a “fail” about the timing. Timing is everything.
^This
She has probably had men interested in her in the past, but abandoned her once they found out about her mental issue. She’s simply putting it out there to save herself time and heartache. I don’t blame her one bit.
^ This. (ClariPossum)
I don’t think that anyone who is quick to make fun of someone for something like this has any moral authority over anyone. EVERYONE deserves consideration and love.
FailBlog FAIL.
So you agree, timing is everything?
And I’m feeling a bit better about myself now.
Also, you’ve been fun. Real fun.
oh, I was making fun of the Christianity part though – yes obviously.
Qwerty is evidently one of those people who watch Roadrunner cartoons and then complain to the ASPCA about what’s being done to the poor coyote. J’accuse!
Christian & ‘hears voices’? Aren’t those redundant?
Mental illness and Christianity do have a close relationship, it’s true.
*squeeze*
Thank you, Brewski…
*squeeze*
*up on the soapbox*
I’ll get down from this soapbox now… I don’t mean to inject bad blood in this forum, but I kind of wanted this stated.
well said Seb. =]
Dearest Seb,
I believe in God because I have weighed the evidence of the universe and believe it is in His favor.
Oh boy we have a long way to go before we can even consider that any humanity is left on this planet.
right on
Dear Laurend,
I must first say that I am sorry.
Good night Laurend, and peace to you and yours.
Good night all.
Sigh, these silly Christian children.
Seb’s my Favorite
Idiot.
That was beautiful. Thanks for posting that.
Laurend wrote:

Obviously he is confusing ghost stories with evidence.
Goddamn man, you are smart!
As a Buddhist, I’m allowed to say that.
Ignorant lot every one.
I can’t believe it’s not buddha.
(Really really sorry, the opportunity was too good to miss, and I am an idiot).

As an interesting tangent, they’ve found there’s a gene that is responsible for belief in God: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_gene
If it’s on a wiki, chances are it’s total bull. That has about as much credibility as if you were to say there’s a Force-sensitivity gene.
Nonetheless, thank you for that unsolicited bit of nonsense.
Slam the sources before you slam Wikipedia. Not everything you disagree with is nonsense.
If God didn’t want us to believe there was a gene that caused the belief in His Greatness, He wouldn’t have created Wikipedia.
Moron.
I’m pagan and I agree with you SuzieQ. No one has the right to judge anyone based on their spiritual path. No path insinuates mental illness.
If you don’t have one, that means you past my line

i’m a Christian and proud of it, but i respect others view points and only ask that they do the same for me.
i have a few atheist friends btw. we get along swimmingly, er, fine ^_^
Amen to that my brother, rr edwards, amen!
*Raises eyebrows*
“Amen?”
It is a Christian society we live in after all. And the irony is kinda sweet.
Personally, I applaud this woman for having the courage to step forward instead of hiding in a corner afraid of the world.
you’re looking for compassion on failblog….
’nuff said
Christianity doesn’t constitute believing in God and only God.
Tell that to Patrick Tiller, you whack-job.
Correction: George Tiller. My error.
Tolerance and intolerance goes all ways.
really? why can’t you tolerate my choice in what I am going to tolerate?
Oh, I realized it was like the Special Olympics from the beginning. I was irked at first, but now I just think this whole argument is hilarious.
“So why in gods name?” *Raises eyebrow again.*
On that note…
*Flaps arms* Whee! I can fly! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
No. you see its like this. Some christians Hear voices. But they dont have mental illness. its god telling them that stem cell research/Abortion is wrong.
note that i said SOME CHRISTAINS. not all SOME
You know as a Christian my knee-jerk reaction was to challenge your view, but… your logic is pretty flawless. I DO hear voices. Well, “voice” singular, not plural.
(replying to random wave node)
I think it’s interesting how this woman’s “failed” ad has attracted so many people with strong religious views. I haven’t read such a impassioned and articulate debate on theology in some time.
I also agree with those who have said it is cruel to post her ad as a big FAIL. LoL! She’s not disclosing inappropriately and she’s not stupid — she’s mentally ill. But she’s got it under control. If that’s your cup of tea, give her a call. Apparently a lot of Christians hear voices, and have no problem with that.
*thumbs up*
oooh you beat me to it!
That’s just what I was thinking! Don’t you have to be just a little susceptible to hearing little voices in your head if you’re religious?
Oh my god! that personal ad is too funny!

I can hear voices. Usually when people talk to me. What’s the problem?
I once had that too! I thought this telephone thingy was evil!
There’s also a box in the corner of my room that talks to itself in different voices!
I’ve tried joining in the conversations but they ignore me
I evicted the box from my house, that soon shut them up.
I bet you sleep in more now though.
Sleep is for wusses.
and for w(alr)usses
ummh, do you hear these voices when someone writes a comment?
Only if I hold my ear up to the monitor. Or put the lead-out cable into my bellybutton.
hmm, that’s should be normal….
Here to the rescue!
I take this doctor business very serious. It was a vocation. … What? … YES IT WAS!
AND STOP TAKING MY FACE OFF!
Cool it Travolta.
its travolting, how young people behave today, going around playing faceless doctor…
That might actually be a relationship that could work. See, there really is somebody for everyone!
I’ve chosen MY words carefully, Persian
…
THIS IS SPARTA!!!
Yes, “self controlled” means they won’t take their meds… which is wtfcuking stupid. Take the pill and those voices go away.

So, what is Failblog’s message to us here? That if you suffer from schizophrenia you are a failure as a human being?
Exactly
That if you try and steal the partner of a schizophrenic christian woman you’re a fail.
Yeah. Way to slag off someone with a mental illness who’s good enough to be upfront about. Failblog fails at not being a twat.
I have consistently enjoyed your posts. Tschüs.
True, fails like this are hater-bait.
Maybe that if you are a christian you are a failure as a human being?
I guess that answers my question. Your choice.
Main Entry: faith
Pronunciation: \ˈfāth\
Function: noun
(1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof
Can you prove there’s no God? Not? Oops.
The burden of proof rests solely on the believer.
(Can you prove there is no Flying Spaghetti Monster?)
WTF there is a spaghetti Monster.
*5 eagles runs out screaming AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA*
Sez you.
That’s why I’m agnostic.
Get lost.
Get a grip.
Oops.
And I thought I have plenty of time to reply to this…
*SQUEEZE*
I had my doubts about what Thomas was saying so joined in. Sorry to disrupt the flow of your debate.
*squeeze*
There is absoluterly no need to be sorry! This is no one man show, you are always welcome to contribute! After all, you’re my all-time favorite Moomin!
Need an “r”?
HAHAHA! That was funny!
BTW – why are you so angry?
*applauds statement, scientific thinking and knowledge of foreign language*

*spooky voice*
Come to Hamburg, Czuhc!
*hears voice*
*goes to McDonald’s*
I have to say you did a good job of putting your foot in your mouth and promoting agnosticism as an alternative to your close minded views. Thnx!
There is a time to wear the “cape” and a time where the “cape” wears you does that make sense?
mmmmm hears voices, but won’t crap on the carpet….sounds too good to be true
what you don’t know is that’s she’s really a moron, sorry, mormon
she didn’t mention she was into polygamy!
she isn’t, she ‘s just cheating
well if she comes knocking on my door, I’ll know what to do
… good, for i sure don’t, or.. do i?
*laughs walruslike*
right now the voices are telling me to lure Christian men to my house
I see Lou is looking for a balanced relationship. ^^ *winknudgeIwon’ttellMookie*
ssssshhhhh! I’ve almost got him
I said quiet voices!
Augh, i forgot, don’t click on GCF links. Where is the brain bleach?
Clearly another dogmatic atheist finding the need to degrade Christian single men.
wouldn’t that have had a negative effect?
by causing these young impressionable men to have impure thoughts?
no, by scaring them away, the voices obviously told her to flatten them with an iron, oh the iron!
hmm, it would work better if u smeared them with mayo and Baconlube…
…and hang out outside places where Christian men are likely to congregate?
yes, and you must sing, sing! SING!!
I’m a lumberjack and i’m ok
I sleep all night and i work all day
I cut down trees i eat my lunch
i go to the lavatory,
on wednesdays i go shopping
and have buttered scones for tea
What´s the Bad Thing about women hearing voices?
So i don`t have to talk to her that much, more free-time, yay
as long as she is able to vocalise these “voices” during sex I don’t see a problem
u would like her to scream ”kill him, KILL HIM, or else you will never get raven’s beak” while you are having sexual intercourse?
in a demonic voice mmmmmmmmmm
no, in a rasping, grating voice that reminds you of bones in a meat grinder
Wow! That’s HOT!
Like the devil baby
here comes the beak now baby!
Beggars can’t be choosers.
I swear to the voices you hear GCF ,that you wrote this fail for yourself.LMAO.
LOL! Sadly no, Failblog has yet to post any of my fails
*long time no squeeze!*
*Squeeze back* I have launched a complaint with the management about your issue “post any of my fails”, least that’s what the voices told me to do.
This doesn’t describe all women? Really?
It says “is self controlled”.
*hides*
Ooh… hide and seek! *closes eyes and counts to 20*
*gooses*
*flees*
*puts on my shoes with go faster stripe*

*gets tired*
*puts out a plate of jaffa cakes*
*waits around the corner with a Moomin net*

*wanders by thread*
Why is there a fat walrus wrapped in a net?
And who is that shadowy Moomin-shaped figure hiding behind the lamppost?
*munch* Moomin? nobody, *munch* told me about moomins, *munch* when i enrolled…..
*tries to make people realize asterisks do not allow peole to do anything they please*
I wanted to say that but I got myself under control. Pbbbt
…because it describes most men.
i believe her disease is called “christianity”
Fuzz I don’t think you have to be schizophrenia to hear voices. Dejavu? is a visionary clue to either a warning or a blessing.
Almost all religious faction has some sort of guides from an unseen entity so therefore gang raping Christianity is not a valid form of a comment?.
me crazy need christian man partner for control me
byeeee!!!
*wavesandsqueezes*
Tschüß!
Gefunden^^
So that’s how that’s spelled! I always heard people saying it, but don’t recall seeing it in writing.
I thought it was “choos” or something.
Yes, that would (almost) work. But it’s spelled in three different ways: Tschüss, Tschüs or Tschüß. I don’t know if one of these spellings is considered to be the only truly correct way. It’s just my mother tongue, how am I to know?
Can you ask your mother what it means and let me know?
I called her and she said I should clean up my room. Some things never change, I guess…
(= Bye, northern German dialect)
B-b-but… I heard people in Ulm use it all the time! Especially when ending a phone call.
WHAT?!? Goddamn thieves! I’m going to Ulm right now and kick some ass! Wait: All asses! Yeah, that’s what I’m going to do. Tschüss!
Don’t be a donkey, Arthur!
I’m not a donkey, I’m a BMW.
*points at sign*
That’s why I’m going to WIN!!!11!!!
*applauds*
That first sentence just reduced me to tears of laughter.
Genius.
*massivesqueeze*
I’ve been cured of my Christianity but i’m still a mental so this being a fail is a bit offensive, ta.
I guess I don’t see the humor in someone else having a brain disorder. Schizophrenia is a disease and this person is obviously suffering and apparently lonely. What’s so funny about that? Can we save Failblog for truly funny stuff? Pleeeez……
Aw, Failblog, this sucks. Having a mental illness isn’t a fail.
Though, I guess being a bigot towards those who have a mental illness is.
Congratulations on failing?
So, if it´s not a fail having a mental illness…
this is a win?
or it’s just neither?
It’s a fail because it’s not the best way to advertise yourself for a potential partner is it?
She’s being honest about a significant problem, instead of hiding a condition that would normally be presumed not to be present. To get someone emotionally involved without revealing such a thing would be morally questionable.
Integrity win for the poor woman!
I think that’s how Katie Holmes ultimately snagged Tom Cruise.
She caught crazy from him, not the other way around.
That’s nothing, I once saw one online that basically said all that plus she had kids, is on mental disability, and feels blessed her parents didn’t have an abortion.
After reading this i really think having a mental illness is a win,
cause in a crazy world only the mental ill are normal
“You’re not going insane! You’re going sane in a crazy world!” __ The Tick.
She could say the voices in her head are the many voices of God. Then the Christian men will be queuing aound the block. It’s not hard, they believe anything.
Hail to the Lord.
Chesus lives! He told me so!
(or was that Harwey who told me? o.O)
I’m pretty sure i have never talked to you, so it must have been Harvey
So does this mean that some christians are mentally healthy and they dont hear voices? Why are they christians then?
All people named Christian feeling attacked, we are sorry
btw. isn`t christianity based on people hearing voices?
Hearing voices didn’t do Joan of Arc any harm, as long as you don’t count that misunderstanding with the stake and the flames and the jeering crowd thing.
I thought Bill and Ted helped her more than the voices did?
They could have warned her to steer clear of large wood piles.
Yeah, Granny keeps meaning to get those sorted but I think he secretly enjoys the pain.
What’s with all the Dark Tower based names? I love it.
I hear music in my head from time to time, what does that make me?
An owner of an iPod?
So those were wires, not abnormally long ear hairs? Phew! Does that mean I can take them out and my brains won’t pour out my ears?
A walrus?
Is that like a Moomin?
no, they are distantly related, but moomins can walk, and we have different hats
Off topic: I think “Interneta pieslēgums ” has lost a bet and now he has to comment on each and every fail…
That might explain Duroc. Speaking of which: where is he?!?!
*guten-tag squeeze*
It’s like a modern day task of Hercules.
More like Sisyphus. Whenever he’s through there’s a new fail.
It’s good to see that my ex is dating again.
I agree.
Best comment in the thread. You don’t disappoint, Arthur.
You’d be surprised how un-PC we can be.
The only people who don’t realy use the word crazy are the “sane” ones who have all the keys to the padded rooms.
crazy people need love too. right? right?
My voices agree…
What the Hell is she supposed to do? Live alone simply because she has auditory hallucinations?
With ‘christian woman’, it was redundant to state ‘who hears voices’.
If you don’t claim to hear voices in your head, you can’t be christian.
Fail to everyone mistaking Psychosis for Schizophrenia
Put most technically, one could say schizophrenia is a cause of psychosis, with “psychosis” being the more general term for a disordered mental condition that entails a markedly distorted perception of reality. But it makes little to no practical sense to say schizophrenia is not psychosis; schizophrenia is the pre-eminent example of a psychotic condition. And while there are several different forms of schizophrenia, “hearing voices” is a most classic schizophrenic symptom.
but you dont have to be schizophrenic to be psychotic
Not cool, failblog. Not cool. The only thing fail about this image is that the woman said man and partner right next to one another. Many people live with schizophrenia and are forced to be productive in society because of the stigma associated with mental disorder. Being able to talk about it and be upfront with it is the only way to destroy that stigma. I wish you would take this one down in order to help stop that stigma. Honestly, I will laugh at a million things from junk-shots to cannibalism, but the stigma surrounding mental disorder is not one of them.
“Ask for Joan.”
“A task for her man.”
I hope she takes her medecine.
Talking to God = Religion
Hearing God talking to you = mental illness
talking to God = Religion
Hearing God talking to you = prophet.
talking to God = Religion
Hearing God talking to you = profit
talking to God = Religion
Hearing God talking to you = profit
Having conversation with yourself and answering back = INSANITY!
That’s me f u cked then.
Okay, for the humor impaired…the “fail” is the juxtaposition of “Christian” with “woman who has mental illness and hears voices but is self-controlled” in the ad, which is a derogatory description of many types of Christianity (you know, they types where the believers say Jesus talks to them). It has nothing to do with saying mentally ill people don’t deserve companionship–it has to do with inadvertently comparing Christianity with schizophrenia.
buba® matches!! gieve phone number to buba® plese!!!
am i the only one yelling fake?
The voices are telling me that YOU SHOULD STOP THAT!
Well at least your never lonley.
The fact that this is being made fun of makes me sad.
failblog FAIL
same here.
For Pete sake!
I think this is overwhelmingly sweet and sad. She is just trying to find someone so she is no longer alone.
That Is offensive ma’am/sir. It’s like calling someone a disgusting pig and say “no offensive”. I don’t believe that you are sorry.
but god doesn’t exist and therefore if you think you have convos with him you’re deranged. fact.
I thought ALL christians heard voices.
Just the born-again ones, I think.
I must not be christian because I don’t hear voices. I’m born-again, mind you.
I can’t believe how many comments this got. This one really stirred up some shit!
i have some ex-boyfriends for her…
wait really? Pointless arguments about christianity… but not a SINGLE Joan of Arc joke??
nvm- found it
because she’s not demanding. No sir.
which one of her personalities placed the ad, i wonder?
Wouldn’t this ad technically encompass any Christian male who believes they’ve heard the “voice of God”?
aw dude, that’s sad, the personal ad
SHE HEARS GOD!!!
Well, she sounds okay actually. She’s upfront about it, taking responsibility for it, and more importantly, doesn’t seem to be confusing the voices with her god.
I see no fail here. Fail, failblog.
Would you date her based on that ad?
No?
Then maybe there -is- fail in this ad.
As I’m sure you think I am.
HA! I am guessing I am the opponent. I haven’t seen anything thought except what is still here now.
Some of my replies got erased. This is the first time I’ve commented on any of these blogs in depth, so maybe there was a cut off for replies. I don’t know.
Anyway, I’m bored now. Moving on. Rant to the wind if you’d like.
I think I dated her :O
greast
Thank you very nice sharing
I think its funny how SHADS himself brought up one of the best proofs for the lies and Hippocratic card-house of Christianity (and how no one realized):
Child molesting priests.
And I don’t mean them as the proof, but the way how the church (as far as I know they are actually all Christians) lies about them and handles the cases “internally” (meaning that the priest does definitely not get the punishment he would in front of a civil court) for hundreds of years by now… and why they do it? Because they are merciful? No, just because they don’t want their sheep to notice that there might be something wrong with what they tell them.
Whats that if not a massive FAIL?
she sounds disturbed.
@Molly the Ghost
