  1. Nick says:

I want to turn it off!

  2. k@ the custard fairy says:

It isn’t hard to turn on!

  3. gmc360 says:

    24-365 protection, guaranteed.

  4. Private_Danza says:

The kind of switch for these debates that are going on and on.

  5. Zeno says:

It kept going on and on…

  6. Arthur Eld says:

    On – oner – onest.

  7. Abignoob says:

I bet its the switch to the electric chair :D

  8. ts6788 says:

    *MADE IN CHINA*

  9. continuous water?i guess

  10. derp says:

i miss all the old failboats.. :(

  11. Czuhc says:

    It says ON – NO.
So: switch turned to left: PDL.
    To the right: NO LDP.

  12. Kris says:

maybe it is just a kind of circuit switch, you just toggle between two separate circuits, like you can have either a tv on, or a fridge on, not both at the same time.

  13. tahrey says:

i think it’s a bit like the wierd valves you get on gas hobs/fires and the like… that go from low… medium… high… OFF. Or high… low… high… off.

    In this case,
Straight up: Off. Which is “PDL” in the moon language of whereever this came from. (Or – straight down?)
Turned to either side: On. Possibly with opposing polarities. So when someone asks you in a panic to “reverse the polarity!” to defeat the bad guys, you can reply “no problem!” as you flick the switch over.

  14. 5 eagles/high5/1finches/1fox/1cats/1vole/owl/caterpiller/1femur C.C.C. says:

Good morning all. I think I will stick to this fail today the guy one is not my cup of tea.

  15. PDL is the brand name.

It is a changeover switch. It is not for turning the juice on and off with, but selecting which device the power goes to.

  16. Malicite says:

Either way you slice it, this knob is turned on.

  17. Edika says:

Might be what electricians around here call “schema 3″, the kind of wiring where you can turn on the light at on switch and turn it off at another. So if the ligth is on depends not only on this switch, but on one or more others, too. So how to label something like this??? The given solution looks not too bad :-)

  18. blackgarnets says:

Which on do I want?…I don’t know…*starts bouncing from foot to foot and whining*

  19. Andu says:

    Is this thing on?

  20. The Moomin says:

On. . .and on. . .and on. . .and on. . .and ariston. . .
    *cue target renegade music*

  21. The Moomin says:

It’s like a win/win situation, only different because it’s not a situation. Or possibly even a win.

    • MRN ♂ says:

Ahhh, that’s more like it (even though it’s written by Paul and not John)

  22. MRN ♂ says:

I don’t recognize this song, but since the Web site says it’s Abba it must be an earworm for somebody out there:
♪ On and on and on
    Keep on rocking baby
    ‘Til the night is gone

  23. k@ the custard fairy says:

I just realised, we have found the root cause of Insomnia!
    *stares in dumbfounded shock*

  24. coyoteman says:

Oh I know what this is! It’s the switch to my mother-in-law’s mouth! :)

  25. Kalashnikov says:

    Oh girl, turn me on.

  26. Unbeliever says:

    Multiple choice…

  27. Joe says:

It’s a Polarity switch, which is why it’s labeled “Pol” at the top. Straight up is off. Left is reverse polarity, right is normal polarity.

  28. Doug says:

    On and Mor-on.

  29. marktheshark says:

    [UGotServed]
    Ooooo, now it’s ON!!!
    [/UGotServed]

  30. Marisol says:

ON/ON switches exist. This is a Failblog fail. :3

  31. sammy stone says:

Definitely NOT a fail. the center position is OFF, unless the dead man pedal switch (PDL) is pressed. This is for a machine that is usually on, and only needs to be off momentarily. pretty common type of switch.

  32. Eric Shook says:

I hate to break up the fun times — but that’s a Hannifin divergent valve control, which in this case — it’s made correctly.

  33.   says:

Lol I’ve seen this on a switch for PCBs too

  34. Me says:

This look like the battery switch on the fire truck. You can turn on different sets of batteries, to turn it off you lift and turn and the switch stays up, when you rotate the switch to on it falls to that position.

  35. jennifer says:

Hopefully its for to turn two different things.

  36. Timothy says:

    I can’t turn off!

  37. Gero says:

Switch fail, or electric company win?

  38. mystic_eye_cda says:

Its one thing to screw up a sticker, that’s easily fixed. Or maybe even a factor painted label. But no one noticed that the mold they were about to pour metal in was wrong??

  39. Beetle179 says:

Hold on, lemme fix it. I jsut need to turn it off so I don’t electrocute myself.

    Wait a minute…

  40. agum says:

“Pol” is obviously short for Polish.

  41. The Premier says:

    First!

  42. Shoj says:

Hahaha I actually have one of these at my school.. controls the heating vents in our classroom. Damn someone uploaded it first :/

  43. WolfLogic says:

Hmm its a maths switch i assume… to the left is negative to the right is positive so assuming on as -1 and + 1 . so if i dial it to -1 + 1 = 0 so its off in binary format so to switch it on i dial it to -1+1+1 = 1 so its on in binary format hmmm seems like this switch i mean for computers ….

  44. Draxton says:

It’s for a gas line. I work for a propane company and you set two tanks and hook both up with separate lines to the switch. When one tank runs out you switch to the other tank.

  45. andrew bevin says:

yeah haz. the light switch at our school

  46. me says:

atleast it’s always turned on :D

  47. Antani says:

Nice thing for Italians: PDL is the short for Popolo Della Libertà, the Berlusconi’s party. We have no choice, sad but true standing to the current political situation in Italy.

  48. Fang says:

Turn it off! Turn it off!!

    “I’m sorry Dave, I can’t do that…”

  49. Jonez says:

I want to put the lights off not on!

  50. waah says:

its not a breaker its a switch between two on positions, instead og opening and closing one circuit, it closes two circuit
    circuit 1: 0
    circuit 2: 1

    and vice versa

  51. gość says:

To turn it off you must turn the button on the middle ;)
