I’m very curvy, but not overweight. And this little lady is an example of how parents let their kids overindulge way too much.
So long as you are healthy, then you should love the way you look. But being a 5 year old beach ball is no good.
I feel so bad for her, because that drawing alone will haunt her…let alone the pic of it on the Interwebs and failblog.
I can picture her doting mother pushing her to sit her for this when she’d rather be playing the games…going on rides…
ahh childhood. Full of disappointments and traumas that will haunt us to adulthood…
I agree that the guy is an asshole, if he did that on purpose. Most caricatures (or however you spell it) draw people with a long round face, that’s just their style. The point of the drawings are to exhagerate the picture. The mom’s an asshole for standing there (if that is her) and not telling the man to stop drawing
Well she eats a whole lot and then shell live a sheltered childhood…. and hopefully she’ll become a smoking hot adult through self persecution….
So as you can see, shes in the hungry caterpillar stage, getting ready to build her cacoon.
That was an oppurtunity I could not pass up.
That is true, people do not hesitate to be cruel. Like an uneducated abusive parent sticking twinkies in the mouth of their offspring rather than dealing with the situation at hand. For all of you that have horrific spelling and grammer abilities the “situation at hand” that I am referencing would be parental activities including, but not limited to: bedtime, cleaning and tantrum resolution. The tragety here is not the willingness of others to insult a “little” girl, but the growing epidemic american children are dealing with. A childs intake of food is directly health realted and to not monitor it, in my opinion, is abuse. That is what is cruel here.
The child’s facial expression matches that of my sister’s no matter what sort of Photo Op she is being a part of. It’s a ”Just Get It Over With” look. She had it before she turned 3.
You know, at this age she doesn’t have a choice to go on diet or do anything about her appearance. The artist is terrible mean person.
Sure, hurt the child, it’ll make you feel better about yourself, amirite?
yay…..
It’s consider this a caricature near-fail. Made her look too old and missed on the likeness a bit. Should have shrunk down the mouth super tiny and fattened the bridge of her nose wider than the bottom of her nose.
That’s kinda what caricatures DO, take one’s features and exaggerate them . . . to a humorous effect. They’re never highly *flattering*.
The only thing about them that alleviates actual *ugliness* is the subject is *usually* smiling. HERE, the artist couldn’t reproduce that . . . I simply don’t know WHY.
Parenting fail for allowing such a young child to become so overweight, and for having her caricature drawn, the point of which is to exaggerate already prominent features (like her round face). That child’s unhappiness is palpable.
IMO, it’s a caricature fail because the sketch doesn’t contain enough likeness to the original to make it recognizable as that individual. It doesn’t even look like a child (granted, they’re more difficult subjects for this genre).
the sketch looks like the child if she were a 30 year old woman. the sketch doesn’t capture the “child” part of her look, although she is instantly recognizable as such. it captures her general shape, but fails to actually capture her. if you saw the drawing alone, i highly doubt you’d say “hey, that’s a kid!” that said, i’ve rarely seen caricature artists who do manage to really “get” a person.
It doesn’t look like a child because children are generally recognizable as such because of small features on a larger (relative to their size) head, with larger eyes than is typical for adults.
In this child, her eyes look small as well, in part because of her weight.
In this caricature, he’s exaggerated the nose (as these artists often do), which makes the portrait look more “adult”.
1. To shonuff for openly saying what no one else had.
2. To cest for picking up on why this is a parent fail rather than a portrait fail. (I disagree somewhat with the last paragraph, but I think you made some really good points.)
No he’s not. She’s hideous looking, extremely obese and sour-looking, and he’s portraying that. Tell me, do you think it would be helpful to the child to lie to her about her condition?
It’s a horrendous caricature. It will scar the little girl for life. He made her look like a 40 year old witch, when in fact she’s an 8 year old witch. When making street caricature you need to make people more beautiful or they won’t pay you.
If she refuses to even smile for a picture and just chooses to glare at the artists while he’s drawing her, then she deserves to get a bad drawing. It’s not the artist’s job to lie and make her look cheerful and beautiful while she’s scowling at him. It’s his job to make an amusing rendition of her face and personality, and this is what she gave him to work with. Maybe she’ll look at it and realize she needs to smile more. Doubtful, though.
haha it’s a caricature alright, but not a very good one likeness-wise. good drawing only technically.
btw I used to do this too…trying to see if I recognize the artist, but all back of head is very open to who this could be…any ideas? =P
also for other posters: for how crazy shitty this job can be sometimes, it’s pretty good pay if you live modestly, so it’s completely feasible to do this to pay rent.
Yeah. And I bet it would look a thousand times better if the little girl was actually smiling, the only reason she’s creepy looking is because she’s pouting and glaring like that.
Shadow, take a deep breath. Relax. If no one is talking on the blog for five minutes, you don’t have to keep up a one-sided conversation. In fact, doing so will make the rest of us talk less. That’s what Arthur was gently trying to tell you. If you have nothing to say, say nothing. It’s ok, really. I promise. We’ve already survived countless implosions; a moment of silence won’t break things.
The fact is simple…This kid is fat and it’s no ones fault but hers.
So you people who say crap like, “oh stop she can’t help it,”
you need to realize that it is her fault she didn’t want to put down the god damn fork…
Ugly fat child.
It is what it is.
They’re ALWAYS slightly insulting, that’s half the charm. I’m pretty sure I don’t have toothpick-thin foot long neck and a bum-chin the size of my BALLS, but I did in the caricature!
It’s not accurate, it’s cruel. She’s got a tiny little nose and mouth, and widely spaced eyes. A decent caricature would exaggerate those features, but instead the artist has given her a huge wide nose and an enormous mouth, and eyes jammed close together. And, to add insult to injury, he’s given her a mullet.
Yes, she’s overweight, but she’s not hideous, and even if she were she’s a child and wouldn’t deserve a picture that’s likely to really hurt her.
yeah, it’s technically well-executed but badly interpreted. she’s kinda cute albeit chubby and angry, I would have loved drawing a caricature of this kid.
It reminds me of most caricaturists I see at places like fairs and on the street. They just follow a formula – pick a random feature and make it randomly different. Make a nose big or little, make chin fat or pointy, make face long and skinny or perfectly round. “Wait,” you say, “that’s what a caricature IS!” But no, I mean they chose to exaggerate it in a way not actually based on your face. Like giving this kid a giant nose when her nose is in no way larger than normal.
It’s just the sign of a hack who’s either incapable or unwilling to do anything other than phone it in.
I agree with Rrrrr! And all people have feelings and what if she is reading all of these mean comments that remind me of 2nd grade from the mean obnoxious kids calling me fat and ugly , if she does read the comments i hope some people say sorry! wow, I sound like my mom LOL! still why are so many people calling her fat, she is NOT fat, she is just curvy and sad/grumpy at the time look at the drawing the guy is doing I’d be mad at him to. ALL kids have baby fat look at a pic of yourself when you were 4 or 5 or 6.
Parent Fail. Diet and Exercise Fail. Who the hell lets their kids eat cheezy poofs in front of the TV until they are that fat? Yeah, she’ll be traumatized, but she’s already doomed.
Guys the fail isnt the girl its the shoe in the corner that looks like he is stepping on the artist. I really hope it was one of the parents that sent this fail in, rofl your parents dont love you because you are fat.
His lines are off too, which isn’t helping matters. He needs a little more in the hair and the lower line of the face is out of proportion, as is the nose. He’s probably making mistakes because he’s unnerved by her evil, evil stare.
Caricatures are supposed to “exaggerate” features, so I would assume that yes, making a fat child look skinny directly in-line with his profession… but, that’s what I understood as a caricature artist, and I may have been doing that wrong too.
Ah, childhood obeisity. “Hey honey, let’s spend your formative years cramming debbie cakes into your mouth, take you to a county fair, have a charicature artist do a hilarious rendering, then take pictures of it! Smile for the nice man, sweetie!” I’d say, if anything, Parenting Fail.
This poor little baby. She looks like my daughter when she was on prednisone for a year — the same fat cheeks and miserable unhappiness. I had the sweetest, happiest little three-year-old girl and she was instantly miserable and very quickly became very fat. Shame on all of you who jump to conclusions and say this little girl is fat, has a bad personality, or ate too much. She could very well have an autoimmune disease and be miserable on medication. You are very uncharitable and clearly don’t have much experience of the world.
tbh, the caricature is pretty bad because one of the reasons i found her funny was cause she had a really squished down nose, but the portrait makes her nostrils more prominant, but you can’t even see her nostrils in real life :O shocking i know
it was still a lol for me when i saw it :L
it’s not HIS fault that her parents are raising a blob… and to this Maggie lady up above me… WE don’t have experience with the world??? How many obese Americans do you think have autoimmune system failures!? Your daughter was a rarity you imbecile
I agree with Gashloog, she chose to give the artist that sour look to try and work with so she deserves the horrific drawing she’s going to get. If she feel like having her caricature drawn, she should have said no.
Such a stereotype… BBC It would have been a major failure but comming from fox It’s not as funny. Its like if we always saw the same guy fail on this site
I always used to make fun of ugly kids. Was terrified I would have one and be forced to to stop.. but genetics work my child came out beautiful. I took it as a sign that teasing ugly kids is the right thing to do. Fat Ugly kid = Fat ugly Portrait. Artist win
Yeah, it’s not exactly the nicest thing for the artist to accentuate her chubby face that much. I realize that’s what caricatures are all about, but there does come a point in time where you have to tone it down or edit yourself a bit. I’d say children sitting for an artist are probably that point in time.
Unless that child is a major brat or something, then I say give ‘em the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory treatment
But at this point, there’s no knowing why the kid looks so unhappy. So, I’d rather err on the side of compassion.
This is a total parenting fail, though. Yeah, yeah, genetics, blah, but at the same time, that doesn’t mean let the get become obese, it means work harder to give them a nutritious diet and lots of exercise. I’ll admit that I’m overweight, unhappy about it, and trying really hard to work my butt off (literally!), but my kids are all perfect on the BMI scale. I keep junk food out of the house except for an occasional treat, give them balanced meals, and send them outside to play instead of letting them sit in front of the TV or Wii all day.
Double parenting fail for letting your kid get a caricature done when anyone with a modicum of common sense would know exactly which feature would be blown out of proportion. Nice way to set your kid up for FAIL.
I can totally see self-confidence issues in this child’s future. I agree, at the very least the artist is being insensitive. Making fun of her weight is NOT going to help her one bit.
What a hideous drawing.
First, it looks nothing like the child.
Second, he had to know he was going to affect her adversely.
Third, if I had to pose for an artist that bad, I wouldn’t smile either.
I can’t help but think that this will be a teenage mother in the making.
who gives a shit? first of all, its a caricature. second, she’s a little bitch. third, its more of a…..portrait WIN. you really can’t make that girl uglier, but i guess you can with a nice caricature. yea. so…take that. XD
I think she is beautiful and all you meanies young and old alike should be ashamed of yourselves. She is a cute little girl who obviously was not happy in that moment. Apparently a lot of you are in that mode quite a bit also and should therefore be able to sympathize a little. Little girl, you ARE a beautiful butterfly! That was the worst drawing of anyone I think I’ve ever seen-you are gorgeous! And I bet when you’re happy and you smile you light up the whole room!
Cheeks wider then her forhead, Neck fold but somehow no neck. Are you sure your looking at the right picture? my guess is they only time this kid is happy and smiles is when shes eating a Box of peeps with both hands. Stop telling weak little children lies and maybe they will stop being weak.
What were the parents thinking, having their child’s portrait drawn at such a bad time?! Both… the portrait and the child’s expression are unflattering. She actually is not that ugly at all, she just has a sour look on her face. The moral of this story: when you’re kid’s about to have a tantrum, DON’T get her portrait drawn.
Im a slightly overweight girl, and I know 3 boys that would love to go out with me- all of them are normal, skinny boys.
Why?
Because of my personality and my face. Despite my curves, I have a beautiful face.
So to all you people who think that fat people are ugly, to all you skinny little anorexic whores who know that they’ll be worn-out burlap sacks by the time that they are 18…
KISS MY FAT ASS
<3
By the way, while I wouldn’t so I’m any more than healthy weight (no, not fat), this was a great yet blunt post.
Being skinny is no better than being obese, regardless of what magazines, tv and the internet feed you.
This is crual.
Parent who feed their children unlimited amounts of garbage food only to have their children grow up to be depressed, have low self-esteems and either live an unhealthy life or have to work hard to lose the weight their parents put on them.
It makes me so mad to see this, as it happened to me on a smaller scale.
Parents, if you’re on here, you may think all your spoiling and treating of your child is great, but your child’s health is at risk.
If parents don’t figure this shit out, and soon, I feel like it’s grounds for social services to come in.
Obesity is just as damaging to a person’s health and having no food at all.
I think this little girl used to live down the street from me. If it IS the same child, that was her default facial expression. The picture looks more like what I remember her mother as being lol.
I sorta feel bad for her, really. She looks like she could’ve been crying before this :/ probably the result of having walked for hours at a fair, got a vicious sunburn and being told she can’t go home. That said, I bet her parents are even beastlier.
Another non-fail. Voluntarily having an artist make a caricature of you is a widely spread practice in Europe, especially with tourists. This is not a fail in any way.
To the editors of the failblog: not everyone in the world is American. Embrace cultural differences. And do some research before you label something a “fail”.
parenting = fail, artist = fail. Don’t be so nasty, poor little girl, she’s how old? 5 or 6 maybe? And on the verge of tears. I can’t believe any real parents would get a caricature done of a little child. What were they thinking? It’s not even like her, and not funny either. Therefore caricature = fail also.
Okay, as an ACTUAL CARICATURE ARTIST who actually does this, I can tell you write now the artist is probably not being mean. If the kid refuses to smile, which they probably are, and the parents are looming overhead, which I’m SURE they are, he can’t exactly fake it and draw some pretty smiling kid, because as a caricaturist you have to draw them as they are, and exaggerate some parts…
A win for the artist on my part, just because he’s very good at what he does, and I seriously hope that kid isn’t really a brat and one day can have a laugh with her parents about how serious she looks.
I don’t see where the fail in this is…..child with rather large face and pissed off expression gets her picture drawn by a caricature artist….resulting picture…..caricature of a child with a rathre large fance and pissed off expression. What was he supposed to draw? A unicorn?
I seriously doubt those are the original proportions of the artist’s caricature. You can never be sure with the poor image quality of photos on sites like this, but the image looks like it was tweaked in Photoshop. There’s a poorly masked horizontal line between her eyes and nose. I’ll bet the person who submitted this enlarged the lower part of the kid’s face to make it look more ridiculous and “Fail worthy.”
It amazes me that some people think it makes a funny joke to say that a fat person is going to eat things other than food, or sit on people, for that matter. I mean, please, if you’re going to be insulting, at least use some wit and originality.
speaking as a cartoonist, that guy’s work is really good, lot of Mort Drucker in his work, speaking as a human being, if I were there I would kick his ass for not being kind enough to draw her smiling…you don’t have to be an asshole all the time…
you are all very mean…making fun of this poor little..hm well obese gurl when she gets older maybe she’ll get into sports and lose some weight and theres nothing wrong with being obese its just a health issue
Ya know, this picture was done on other websites, I’ve seen the picture done with Jaba the Hut, so actually I think it’s one of those pictures someone’s changed the “artwork” on, cuz I’ve seen a few pictures as the artwork….
For those of you picking on her how she looks, look at your conscience.
Umm… I’m not so sure that’s a fail. Many of street artists are doing caricatures, not portraits. Perhaps this is one of those artists. When we hire such artist he always ask us if we want portrait or cartoonish style.
Accurate.
Yeah, I’d say face fail.
We must face the facts, at least as they have been artistically expression’d.
“face the facts” nice pun
Im not fat, Im big boned.
I’ve never seen a fat skeleton.
Exactly. Fat, ugly child? Fat, ugly child’s portrait.
Aw y’all are so mean
You can tell she has a bad feeling about the whole thing anyways. I hope she grows up to become a beautiful butterfly.
Ugly goes clear to the bone. It’s her attitude/personality that makes her ugly and that ain’t gonna change.
I suppose you’re doomed then…
shame on adults everywhere.
Wow you guys take a joke to seriously…btw im not an adult so…i can make fun of it…lol
FU Back….Have a great day, Asshat.
Eww… You know how smelly that would be? I hope he washes that hat.
hey, I was fat and ugly when I was younger. once I hit puberty and shot up 6 inches, I became a healthy weight and I’m still at a healthy weight!
6 inches? Poor you…
(And that is the last time I make a joke like that!)
I’d like to shoot up some 6. Is that what they call it nowadays?
Healthy weight, pretty face, big boned, curvy, etc… words to describe being overweight yet not obese. I am also a healthy weight
no, curvy, like voluptuous, specifically refers to the way your hips and waist look.
curvy means you have an hourglass figure
I’m very curvy, but not overweight. And this little lady is an example of how parents let their kids overindulge way too much.
So long as you are healthy, then you should love the way you look. But being a 5 year old beach ball is no good.
Because someone’s personality can totally be summed up by a single, unfortunate picture of them…
Do you know this person? She’s a kid man. Lighten up.
Yes, I agree.
Yeah, I feel bad for that girl that guy was an asshole.
I admire your ability to determine someone’s “attitude/personality” based on a single photograph.
Kind of like you. You are very, very ugly because you have a very ugly personality. Otherwise you wouldn’t have written that.
Aaron…so happy to hear your point of view about the little portrait girl. It’s heartbreaking.
ya, it was mean of him to do that.
Sadly, human to insect transformations are very rare.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hmmm, a pundit kitchener.

oh shut up !!!!!!!!!!!!
you’re probably fat and homely as well
actually im not
but being a little hug-able never hurt anyone!(dont answer that it was rhetorical)
why the hell would she become a butterfly?
LOL
Well she eats a whole lot and then shell live a sheltered childhood…. and hopefully she’ll become a smoking hot adult through self persecution….
So as you can see, shes in the hungry caterpillar stage, getting ready to build her cacoon.
That was an oppurtunity I could not pass up.
O.o That is actually what happened to me. In middle school I got fed up and started track and dropped like 20 pounds. [/fail]
Looks like she already built her cacoon..
It’s not mean, its honest.
…yeah, cos I can really imagine HER flying…
from what i know… pigs don’t fly… do they?
yes a BEAUTIFUL butterfly…heh heh. it’s probably a caricature!!!!!!!!!:)oh and she will make a “Beautiful butterfly”
I agree. People sure don’t hesitate to be cruel. I think she’s a cutie with a somber expression. We are talking about a little girl here.
That is true, people do not hesitate to be cruel. Like an uneducated abusive parent sticking twinkies in the mouth of their offspring rather than dealing with the situation at hand. I was just about to note the same corrections! Thanks for saving me the time!
The child’s facial expression matches that of my sister’s no matter what sort of Photo Op she is being a part of. It’s a ”Just Get It Over With” look. She had it before she turned 3.
Is that humanly possible?
Also, it may be a caricature, which is a stupid version of a portrait.
I hope she grows up to become a butterfly. The butterflies would accept her, maybe even revere her for her massive form.
Why is it that your comment makes me think of the Blind Melon video for “No Rain?”
I hope so too aaronis!
Well right now she’s doing a good impression of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”
why would she be a butterfly?
doubt it
You pretty much just called her fat and ugly

Green. No-one will notice when people puke on it
This’ll be the other way around. The portrait will remain ugly while she becomes more beautiful.
Still, whatcha gonna do as an artist? She’s not giving him much to work with.

This is a double fail.
It doesn’t even look like a child (granted, they’re more difficult subjects for this genre).
the sketch looks exactly like the kid, well, a little rounder, but that’s the point of a caricature.
the sketch looks like the child if she were a 30 year old woman. the sketch doesn’t capture the “child” part of her look, although she is instantly recognizable as such. it captures her general shape, but fails to actually capture her. if you saw the drawing alone, i highly doubt you’d say “hey, that’s a kid!” that said, i’ve rarely seen caricature artists who do manage to really “get” a person.
That’s my take, anyway.
THANK YOU. (^_^)

this is what i do to pay rent. i would know.
You think this is a good caricature? And you pay your rent on the back of doing the same? Where d’you live? A skip?!
It’s a horrendous caricature. It will scar the little girl for life. He made her look like a 40 year old witch, when in fact she’s an 8 year old witch. When making street caricature you need to make people more beautiful or they won’t pay you.
Maybe if the kid would look happy, the portrait wouldn’t look so ____ (you fill in the blank).
grey?
Hand-drawn?
realistic?
constipated?
He actually did make her look happier, but also made her 30 years older. She looks like a greasy-haired, ex-alcoholic cat-lady in the portrait.
Ex-alcoholic? Hmm, I think she still has about 12 steps to go.
It’s a parenting fail, and the parents need a serious kick in the ass. Maybe this will do the trick.
caricatures aren’t supposed to look beautiful. they are mock portraits.
no one’s supposed to look good in them.
geez.
Bravo; thank you for saying this.
(My bad for giving someone else credit for making this point first.)
hmmm….hey, where’s the fail ?! …. it’s almost perfect !!!
Yep. Accuracy Win.
The shadows are all wrong. DON’T YOU SEE IT?
Probably the least failing fail I have ever seen here. All of the REAL fails waiting in the buffer and we get…..a caricature.
Yup, which makes a 7(?) year old look like a 38 year old…
Cathryn’s right, this is a caricature, not a portrait. And its a good one.
He’s captured her likeness very well, and added a fair amount of exaggeration.
The only fail here is how creepy that little girl is. Child Fail.
For any who are wondering what a caricature is, try googling Joe Bluhm or look up Tom Richmond from Mad Magazine.
Yeah. And I bet it would look a thousand times better if the little girl was actually smiling, the only reason she’s creepy looking is because she’s pouting and glaring like that.
The top of the easel looks like a dagger stuck in the top of her head …. (yea, I just woke up….)
Her picture works as a sword swallower at the local circus.
I think she’ll not only swallow the sword she’ll eat it too.
And eat the circus, too complete with clowns….mmmm clown; I always thought clown would taste funny though.
Beep, beep Don.
You still got a little of clown stuck in your teeth.
rule #1, if you are a little overweight don’t get a caricature!
In fact this goes for everyone, never get a caricature. You may as well go waste your money on something more entertaining.
They will overdo the feature you have the most.
They will underdo the feature you the least.
*sneaks ^^ and throws in a “have*
*goes and sits in the corner*
*screams at the injustice of the keyboard*
*runs up to add an “*
What if there are two features that you have the most? I think my hair and my mole would be blown out of proportion/made to look like a creature.
Yes. I don’t need anyone to emphasize how ugly I am.
OMG SHE WILL EAT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHH!
Thats what she’ll look like after eating him.
And that’s what she will look like after eating FAIL Blog:
Is this a little girl or a midget?
Dang she is freaky looking…
Must be her genetics and not the fact that she stuffs her face full of junk food that causes her to be this fat.
I will have nightmares now….the artist is evil.
*dreams* “oh no she is going to eat me nooooo!!!! Run away!!!!!!
*wakes up* I had the nightmare darn you!!!!!
I don’t think your name is appropriate.
Why?
There’s hitler, headless, ninja tank, and so on.
No offense guys.
You don’t seem stealthy.
People can make ironic names you know.
People can give hidden advice you know.
A name is a name that is all. You know.
Does any see a pattern? That you know.
*sigh*
It’s not really about the name. Look down VVV…
???
, look down, don’t look ‘em in the eye…
(Great, now I’ll have that song stuck in my head the rest of the day.)
Face Fail
the portrait is a caricature lol
actually she looks more like a cartoon character in the portrait.
I hope the child’s parents gave permission for this pic to be displayed for the whole world to see and ridicule.
If not, we may have another angry email similar to the Guiness Record people’s message on our hands!
That will suck….I think.
Nah, it would be funny to see another reply. Though nobody would fall for the rickroll this time.
i probably would
Parenting fail more than anything else really.
caricature fail.
portrait win!
Haha, that’s not a fail, that’s an accurate picture of a fat annoyed little girl. I’d say honesty win.
Looks like a perfect portrait. Too bad the girl is butt-fugly.
I don’t think you’re being fair here… it’s definitely not my cup of tea, but butt-f isn’t THAT ugly.
So far I can’t think of any other posts of my own right now.
…to here. Got it?
I just had a statement fail.
*Sigh*
Arthur, subtlety won’t work.
*sets up paint can & vacuum experiment*
*Sits in chair to watch the experiment*
If only I were 15 years younger…I’d be blissfully unaware what was wrong with this.
If I were 15 yrs older, I would also be blissfully unaware of what was wrong with this.
Sally Struthers
Portrait win
Childhood obesity fail
agreed.
Ugh, so bored at work. *headdesk*
It’s obviously a caricature. This is not a fail, nor is it a win. This is exactly what a caricature is supposed to be!
Yes, it is a caricature, but it is drawn a little too accurately… now, if they turned into something like Jabba the Hut, that would be… funny/sad?
yea it would be funny/sad.
Bring me Solo and the Wookiee. They will all suffer for this outrage!
Who is ‘they’? All I see is a little girl. Were you referring to the artist AND the girl?
Antecedent fail.
Someone did, cause thats the version I saw first.
http://i26.tinypic.com/rvwlys.jpg
Portrait win.
Kid’s diet fail…
Child FAIL
Artist WIN
Which will cause him to have a survive fail and the girl to have a revenge win.
Amen
The man is drawing so slow she’s aging during the process
It’s no fun without the regulars…
Its a caricature you morons. Its a dead on win.
E A T
A T E
T E A
Can anyone make a better/bigger one?
I dont see anything wrong with the picture. Its a cartoon pic and it looks like it should. How did it fail??
That’s what I was thinking too…
Everyone fails for thinking it’s a fail.
It is too accurate for a caricature
I get it! the picture looks better
The fact is simple…This kid is fat and it’s no ones fault but hers.
So you people who say crap like, “oh stop she can’t help it,”
you need to realize that it is her fault she didn’t want to put down the god damn fork…
Ugly fat child.
It is what it is.
Actually, at her age I’d be more inclined to blame the parents…
Agreed.
Hey if I looked like that, I’d scowl too. :-p
It’s a fail because the child is ugly, which makes the drawing ugly.
That is why it fails.
Maybe that’s not a casual street artist, but a street caricaturist.
That’s actually a quite nice and artistic caricature.
EDIT: OK OK I admit it’s not really a good one. But it’s also not really a fail.
Hey guise, know what this is?
It’s a Caricature.
They’re ALWAYS slightly insulting, that’s half the charm. I’m pretty sure I don’t have toothpick-thin foot long neck and a bum-chin the size of my BALLS, but I did in the caricature!
“His chin looks like balls. Should I censor that as well?”
hehe… family guy win
Damnit, you beat me to it.
*clap clap clap* Well said!
yeah, it’s technically well-executed but badly interpreted. she’s kinda cute albeit chubby and angry, I would have loved drawing a caricature of this kid.
I second that, the kid is angry, not ugly. And yes it’s a caricature, even if not a very good one. High five!
Yes, very well said.
Artist Win!
*high fives citph*
lol a beast
cheeks need to be drawn in even wider
Parent Fail. Diet and Exercise Fail. Who the hell lets their kids eat cheezy poofs in front of the TV until they are that fat? Yeah, she’ll be traumatized, but she’s already doomed.
a parent who’s not around (speaking from experience)
i would!!
Isn’t it just ment to be like this? ~duhh…
Guys the fail isnt the girl its the shoe in the corner that looks like he is stepping on the artist. I really hope it was one of the parents that sent this fail in, rofl your parents dont love you because you are fat.
Neh, I think it’s the poofy-haired whale in the black mumu who’s watching over the artist’s shoulder.
“Smile, honey, we’re going to get this framed so you can remember this moment forever!”
i’d call that a win.
Not really a fail… I’d say it’s pretty accurate.
Portrait win. Little spoiled fat face fail.
I don’t get the fail? Cuz he made her face fatter?
it’s just a caricature
But it’s sooooooo scary.
He captured her expression quite well.
how is it a fail? its a caricature, its supposed to exaggerated like that xD
His lines are off too, which isn’t helping matters. He needs a little more in the hair and the lower line of the face is out of proportion, as is the nose. He’s probably making mistakes because he’s unnerved by her evil, evil stare.
This isn’t funny. That’s a caricature, not a portrait.
Y’all sure are being mean-minded in regards to a small child. You Fail.
I don’t know about ’small’.
More towards to edges of….whale?
This is a portrait WIN.
Mhm, the face ist too small… Make it more fat!
wtf, ithis indeed is a portrait win.
but also a face fail
What, is he supposed to draw her skinnier?
He couldn’t draw her any fatter, not without getting some bigger paper.
Caricatures are supposed to “exaggerate” features, so I would assume that yes, making a fat child look skinny directly in-line with his profession… but, that’s what I understood as a caricature artist, and I may have been doing that wrong too.
definitely WIN!
That doesn’t look like a fail at all. She’s a flat slob and should be punished by utter humiliation in portraits.
Indeed. She’s one fugly motherf***er, isn’t she?
THAT IS A WIN!
Spot on, spot on.
How is that a fail? That is an epic win!
this is gonna be an expensive therapy bill one day.
That WE all have to pay!
THAT’S A WIN LOL
Ah, childhood obeisity. “Hey honey, let’s spend your formative years cramming debbie cakes into your mouth, take you to a county fair, have a charicature artist do a hilarious rendering, then take pictures of it! Smile for the nice man, sweetie!” I’d say, if anything, Parenting Fail.
Hahaha gotta love childhood obesity
This poor little baby. She looks like my daughter when she was on prednisone for a year — the same fat cheeks and miserable unhappiness. I had the sweetest, happiest little three-year-old girl and she was instantly miserable and very quickly became very fat. Shame on all of you who jump to conclusions and say this little girl is fat, has a bad personality, or ate too much. She could very well have an autoimmune disease and be miserable on medication. You are very uncharitable and clearly don’t have much experience of the world.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Well i didnt say that in the pic…So…you argument has been thrown out the window
this isnt a fail lol
tbh, the caricature is pretty bad because one of the reasons i found her funny was cause she had a really squished down nose, but the portrait makes her nostrils more prominant, but you can’t even see her nostrils in real life :O shocking i know
it was still a lol for me when i saw it :L
This is clearly a WIN.
This is not a fail. This is a win.
I think since the picture is fine that they meant she is a fail
it’s not HIS fault that her parents are raising a blob… and to this Maggie lady up above me… WE don’t have experience with the world??? How many obese Americans do you think have autoimmune system failures!? Your daughter was a rarity you imbecile
I agree with shmichael, it’s an artist WIN!
warped perception fail.
its like a psychic future portrait! she’s gonna grow up lookin even more crabbier/plumper
this is def a portrait win.
I think she is a beautiful little girl who was most likely forced to do something she didn’t want to do.
That guy must be blind.
Parenting fail- making your chubby kid sit for a caricature artist against her will at the county fair.
Builds character
I’d say WIN!!
STOLEN from BUZZFEED. Originally posted on buzzfeed.
This is Actually Fake. Or maybe this is the original? Anyways, there’s a version where he’s drawing Jabba the Hutt.
Hey you idiots. This isn’t a fail. It’s a win
She is already a caricature.
Oh, the scars, the scars…
TAT ISNT A FAIL TAT IS A WIN
I agree with Gashloog, she chose to give the artist that sour look to try and work with so she deserves the horrific drawing she’s going to get. If she feel like having her caricature drawn, she should have said no.
oops. DIDN”T feel
What kind of shoe is that in the corner? Where can I get one? My god, it’s beautiful.
Such a stereotype… BBC It would have been a major failure but comming from fox It’s not as funny. Its like if we always saw the same guy fail on this site
omg i fail!
That would be a win.
i understand it must be so difficult draw such un ugly kid. she’s a cartoon so it’s impossible to make a better portrait
that should really be a WIN
I always used to make fun of ugly kids. Was terrified I would have one and be forced to to stop.. but genetics work my child came out beautiful. I took it as a sign that teasing ugly kids is the right thing to do. Fat Ugly kid = Fat ugly Portrait. Artist win
Good copy FTW… Except for the ominous easel/potential temple-stabbing weapon… you never know when miss pouty-face might come into a hormonal rage
Portrait WIN!!! Nice one, fatty.
If the child and/ or parent would see the drawing, they would kill the painter
I can totally see self-confidence issues in this child’s future. I agree, at the very least the artist is being insensitive. Making fun of her weight is NOT going to help her one bit.
no…but not making fun of her weight is going to send a message that says…Hey eat another twinkie!
What a hideous drawing.
First, it looks nothing like the child.
Second, he had to know he was going to affect her adversely.
Third, if I had to pose for an artist that bad, I wouldn’t smile either.
I can’t help but think that this will be a teenage mother in the making.
And in case the artist ever visits here and reads this…shame on you. Absolute shame on you. Find another line of work.
who gives a shit? first of all, its a caricature. second, she’s a little bitch. third, its more of a…..portrait WIN. you really can’t make that girl uglier, but i guess you can with a nice caricature. yea. so…take that. XD
roflol
Pwned.
Have any of you seen my socks, I cant seem to find them!
she ate them!
So, so, so, so cruel.
Damn, u could at least sugar coat that…
That IS what she’ll look like by the time she’s a senior in high school – unless we act now, and send her parents to nutrition boot camp.
Reproduction fail (and I ain’t talking about the caricature)!
JGOD, I think I found some socks…purple and green turtles on ‘em….yours?
No, mine are TMNT sock! But I still havent found them
What were the parents thinking, having their child’s portrait drawn at such a bad time?! Both… the portrait and the child’s expression are unflattering. She actually is not that ugly at all, she just has a sour look on her face. The moral of this story: when you’re kid’s about to have a tantrum, DON’T get her portrait drawn.
Oh yeah, a Mad Magazine win!
I live in a farm town in central CA – most of the kids look this fat. The “skinny” ones (normal weight) get made fun of. Sad.
Are we talking about cows here?
Must be because i live in a farm town too…AND everybody is skinny except for like 5 people who wont get with the program!
Is it just me, or does the girl look like Snarf from Thundercats in the portrait?
can’t unsee
WIN
should be win not fail
any1 noteced you can see her right (left for us) nippel xD
this in no way is a fail. in fact, this is an EPIC WIN
that poor girl. don’t her parents know that a caricaturist EXAGGERATES features?
on a less-sensitive note: is she part of an all-fat production of “Firestarter?”
She kinda resembles Zach Galifianakis I think…anyone?
HOLY SHIT I KNOW THAT GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do we know this is a fail? Maybe she requested a portrait of Chris Farley.
You just made my day!
1′d for not being a portrait fail, it’s pretty accurate
Id acctually caunt this as a WIN but cuz its funny
how is that a fail? at the least I’d say portrait win
More cushion for the pushin!
overdefensive fatty for the lulz
Oho… (added by Mobile using Mippin)
He drawed her quite good xD
I think this little girl used to live down the street from me. If it IS the same child, that was her default facial expression. The picture looks more like what I remember her mother as being lol.
I can’t help but look to the parents when I see an overweight child. There is little to no excuse (barring medical issues.)
Well, the child looks pretty mad at life. What else would you expect? LOL
WIN!
ouch XD
I sorta feel bad for her, really. She looks like she could’ve been crying before this :/ probably the result of having walked for hours at a fair, got a vicious sunburn and being told she can’t go home. That said, I bet her parents are even beastlier.
Future white trash
She looks like Shrek…
lol
Multiple labels apply here: little girl fail, sketch artist win, and a classic parenting fail.
what an ugly child >.>
Another non-fail. Voluntarily having an artist make a caricature of you is a widely spread practice in Europe, especially with tourists. This is not a fail in any way.
To the editors of the failblog: not everyone in the world is American. Embrace cultural differences. And do some research before you label something a “fail”.
Fail????? what???? More like WIN!!!!
Artist EPIC WIN!!!!
Some of us are being mean here. The little girl in the picture has met such people before. I can tell.
WIN!!!!!
I don’t see any fail in it tho… It’s normal for that kind of art to exaggerate stuff =/
Portrait WIN!!! That cartoonist has talent and was very accurate. The poor kid looks SO bitter…the caricature would have looked better if she smiled.
Caricature WIN!
WIN!
Poor kid… GREAT ARTIST!!!
What’s he supposed to do, make her a skeletonized smiley face? People would be bitching about that too!
This entry fails.
parenting = fail, artist = fail. Don’t be so nasty, poor little girl, she’s how old? 5 or 6 maybe? And on the verge of tears. I can’t believe any real parents would get a caricature done of a little child. What were they thinking? It’s not even like her, and not funny either. Therefore caricature = fail also.
just when we thought he couldn’t make her more fat xD
how is this a fail I think the picture is very nice… lol
that’s a win… its a good pic
LOLOLOL the person who put it as a fail is an idiot thats perfectly well done.
I feel sorry for the artist there’s no way he’s gonna get paid for that one.
I say artist win, but i feel bad for the scowling kid. I’d expect her to attack him or something once she sees the picture.
Actually looks pretty accurate to me.
I don’t see where the fail in this is…..child with rather large face and pissed off expression gets her picture drawn by a caricature artist….resulting picture…..caricature of a child with a rathre large fance and pissed off expression. What was he supposed to draw? A unicorn?
That is one freakin ugly ass kid
hahahhah he made that kid even fatter and uglyer!
wow…..this is all the moms fault
Haha fat ass! hmm, id say that girl wieghs 215 pounds, and the artist added on 2 pounds.
wait i think the fail in this actually might be that theres a sword right behind the pix so it looks like its cutting into the girl
im pretty sure the artist did it on purpose
that must have been a caricature. caricatures enhance certain facial features, so I don’t see why this should be fail.
I mean, please, if you’re going to be insulting, at least use some wit and originality.
i know its harsh, but so funny! I mean, look at her face, its so long and squidgy looking, she shud learn how to smile
Sometimes you just haven’t got much to work with.
He looks hungry.
Parenting Fail – “Sure, you can have cupcakes for dinner… again”
haha i know, right, I dont think this pic is a fail but i think the parents are the one at the fail.
what an asshole
ugly ass kid
wow he didn’t make one mistake
speaking as a cartoonist, that guy’s work is really good, lot of Mort Drucker in his work, speaking as a human being, if I were there I would kick his ass for not being kind enough to draw her smiling…you don’t have to be an asshole all the time…
seems like the guy can draw the future to me
I don’t think it is a fail, but a win. Shame the kid is such a downer. The guy drew what he sees.
Bacon anyone?
I don’t see a fail…
shes not fat enough in the portrait
niceg
I’d say Artist fail. If the Artist new what he was doing, he’d put some more fat on the cheeks, and a few more chins to top it all off
looks like her at age 40!
I think this is a win, actually.
Where’s the ‘fail?’ That’s as accurate a portrait as could be done, with an angry pumpkin wearing a wig as a subject.
thats a win
That’s not a fail for the portrait, but for the girl not smiling. It’s a caricature, it’s supposed to look like thar,
Yeah.
Why is my child so fat….?
epic…….WIN!
you are all very mean…making fun of this poor little..hm well obese gurl when she gets older maybe she’ll get into sports and lose some weight and theres nothing wrong with being obese its just a health issue
next comment fail!
when u let ur kid get this pissed, fat, and sunburned, she aint gonna look pretty.
more like portrait win duh
and a face fail What is she like 8?
Accuracy Win
Yes this should be upgraded to a win.
Her mom is a genius for letting her do it….now she is a nationwide success! Mom must be soooo proud.
That´s looking like a win to me XD
That caricature is a little too exaggerated.
Umm… I’m not so sure that’s a fail. Many of street artists are doing caricatures, not portraits. Perhaps this is one of those artists. When we hire such artist he always ask us if we want portrait or cartoonish style.
