It’s our house actually and just to let everyone know:

The photo is real (taken just before we bought the house)
The tree is real (but sadly dying since the driveway has “choked” the roots)
The tree was kept as a stipulation since the new house was being built in a park
There is almost 7 feet of distance from the back side of the tree to the face of the garage door. Plenty of room for us to get our full sized suv and 4-door sedan around each side of the tree without any problems.

We think the tree adds character and obviously generates discussion.

Interesting to see the comments – I took this photo, and it’s real. It’s in Sarnia, Ont.
One of the commentors above is correct – the owner was in the process of building the house and a neighbour went through City Council to save the tree (since it’s in a ‘park’ area) – thereby obliging the owner to leave it.
I bet they’re not good neighbours now…….

I swear all these people just get off on saying ‘uh photoshop’ to pretty much anything without having any actual idea how to tell a photoshop job from a real picture.

All this talk about shadows matching up is idiotic, the shadow of the tree matches the garages and the direction of the sun perfectly. Get out from up your own asses!

Well, for one, it’s really easy to photoshop something like this. Just select the tree with the lasso tool, click and drag. It’s so easy, you could do it in MS Paint.

We had a driveway set up almost exactly like that… City ordinance had prevented removal of the tree, so the garage was placed just far enough back to manage driving around the tree (up a 45* angle, no less, thanks to the severe incline of our city). Yes, backing out was a tricky maneuver, but after doing a few thousand times, you get used to it, I guess.
