I’ve actually seen car dealerships do this a lot. It has something to do with the direction the car is traveling on the road and so you can read it in your mirrors.

This is a fail, even backwards. If you read it in a mirror, the “S” and “L” would be backwards, even if it was in the right spot.

Look at the way they’re facing, on the right side of the road. There is probably an intersection near also. So when you’re sitting there, and look in your mirror, it will read “sale”.
