  1. Luke, join me in the carnival.

Actually, we don’t know when Darth Vader was alive, only that it was in the past. Maybe it’s accurate.

      • IDK. I’m no Star Wars fan. I’ve never watched any of the movies nor I probably will. So I just winged it. :P

                      • No, you didn’t sound insulting. I understood what you meant. I just know I won’t understand any since I’ve never watched.

                        • You should definitely check out Knight of the Old Republic and the sequel, they’re excellent games Star Wars or no!

                        • czuhc says:

I once met an English teacher who had never read LOTR. When I tried to ask – very politely – why he hadn’t, he didn’t let me finish my sentence and snarled at me that he “already had a religion”. I guess he had encounterd some disbelief too.
BTW, FSA, I saw four of the Star wars movies and enjoyed them on a certain level, but disliked them on another. Suspension of disbelief is of the essence.

Statement well placed, Arthur…I get to enjoy dressing like this once or twice a year since I’ve loved Star Wars since I was 4 in ‘77, and Dad worked for NASA & is also a sci-fi fan, and the folks would never give in back then to the moderate expense of making such a wicked Halloween costume. I’LL ALWAYS BE A TOYS-R-US KID.

                  • It’s true. Star Wars had one of the biggest impacts on pop-culture and society of any movie series ever! I was watching the documentary last night oddly enough.

Not quite a fail, but certainly not as great as it’s made out to be.

I am with you FSA. I refuse to watch any starwar movies. :)

            • Arthur Eld says:

              • aikiwaza says:

Is this an expellable offence? I mean the right to dislike it should go unsaid, but to not even watch it!?

                • What is it with people and forcing their beliefs on others? Religion, now star wars? If I said I won’t watch it or play it, I won’t watch it or play it. So you guys can all enjoy what you like and I’ll enjoy what I like, ok? Thank you.

                  • Hey, FSA, relax! I was just recommending a game to you. Just because it’s got “Star Wars” in the title doesn’t mean it’s bad (all the time)! If you like Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR is a very similar game. I’m certainly not saying you should rush out and buy the thing, but if you get the chance to borrow it off someone or pick up the demo, it’s worth playing, right? Unless there’s some reason you’re opposed to all things Star Wars?

                    • DarthMacVader says:

Doesn’t the moniker ‘Fruitcake’ speak volumes already? Everyone’s entitled to their own choices and opinions…they’re like a$$holes: everyone’s got one-but some just smell worse than others.

                  • Leila - not allowing anyone to break her FB spirit today. says:

Aw FSA…don’t lose your cool. :) They just all want us to share their enthusiasm, that’s all. You can keep resisting – as I will.

Pssst: we have to find others to join the SW Resistance. Just the two of us aren’t going to make it.

*waits for someone to take this out of context*

                    • skwirrlgrrl says:

I understand Leila.. I have the same problem, just with Austin Powers.
Nothing, not even the Force, will make me watch those!!

                      • I personally quite enjoy the austin powers movies. But if you don’t like them, that’s perfectly OK. No one is forcing you to watch them.

                        • elsa_mama says:

I certainly hope no one used the FORCE to make me watch them — I have not watched Austin Powers either. Yesterday when i was at the hospital with my son he and the nurse were talking about the “Fat Bastard” I kept saying – who is that and they just said “the Fat Bastard” It was like a comedy routine. Then my son said “Mom! Its from Austin Powers!” Oh — ooops lame Mom – again… ;)

                      • chez says:

Austin Powers… that one has more than enough going against it for any reasonable person to reserve the right to not watch. Star Wars is mostly harmless though, especially for those of us who never intend to don a darth vader costume or Princess leia slave outfit. It’s really very easy to enjoy the movies without getting sucked into that void.

                        • Hanabi says:

I love Star Wars. I can accept it if somebody doesn’t like it or even if they refuse to watch it outright, but that forces me to ask one question:…WHY!?? I just don’t understand what’s not to like about it… D:

                      • svennethir says:

How do you know that you don’t like something if you haven’t seen it?

Those of you who refuse to watch Star Wars are simply doing so to go against the grain of society. If you were to watch them and then say you didn’t like them then that would make sense, but to refuse to even watch them is pure ignorance.

                        • Leila - not allowing anyone to break her FB spirit today. says:

It has nothing to do with ignorance. It’s a matter of choice. It is a free country – at least the USA – afterall.

                        • Rohvannyn says:

Though I am also something of a Star Wars fan, I can completely understand why someone would not want to watch it. For one thing, it’s been completely overexposed and overhyped. It’s such a big part of American culture that people reference ideas from it without thinking about it. Same with Star Trek. And I can easily understand why someone would want to steer clear of it for that reason alone. (Same reason why I’ve never eaten at KFC.)

            • Leila - not allowing anyone to break her FB spirit today. says:

                    • yes, yes they do. I had one, ooohhh, it was so bad. it was one thing after the other and then i took it for inspection and they wanted $2,000 to pass it. I about died from shock, then went and financed a Toyota. I’ve had it for 5 years with no issue. 35 mpg etc. very nice car.

I have had Mustangs and never had any issues with them. Maybe I am just lucky.

                        • well, there is a huge difference between a Mustang, which I will admit are top of the line, and a Dodge Neon, easily the worst american “disposable car” ever made.

                        • Malicite says:

My Volvo is the best…except for the fact that the person who had it before blew the entire ABS… I was going down a steep hill yesterday and started to power slide…

The problem with cars is that technology has surpassed economics. You could put out a car that lasts 20 years, but meantime you’d go out of business and in 20 years when everyone needed a new car then what?

                      • mrs_z says:

My Toyota, nine years and yet to need a tune-up. I love my lil truck.
My sis, on the other hand, bought a Saturn. It started eating tires. She took it back to the dealership three times in a row; they told her there was nothing wrong with it. Then the warranty expired. She took it to a different mechanic, who brought her out a recall notice for the very problem she was having. She went back to Saturn; they would not honor the recall even though it went out before her warranty expired. She was threatening to picket the dealership. My brother told her she should make a sign reading “If you buy a Saturn, you could lose Uranus!”

Well, still no resolution for the problem, and the whole family now refers to Sis’s car as “the Uranus.”

                  • Brewski says:

Well, I think one should at least watch the first movie before passing judgement. I can’t blame somebody for getting turned off on it, because of all the fanatical types out there. But… give it a chance. If you watch the first one (Star Wars “4″ now), and don’t like it, fine. But you can’t say you don’t like it if you’ve never seen it. I’ll try anything once before making up my mind. Like horror. Watched a few actually, hated them all.

                    • Marius says:

Horror! Seriously, I’m a wuss. I watched What Lies Beneath, that crappy movie with Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer, and had to sleep with the light on!

Brewski – my brother goes to China a lot – he is a Physicist and working on an project there. The stories he tells about food!! I watched Friday the 13th, Halloween, Saw, The Hitcher, several others. No theng-kyoo.
I’m okay with Hitchcock-style suspense though, like the original Psycho, or the Birds.

                        • Brewski says:

What do you mean, “The rest of the bird”? There is no “rest”. They eat it all.
                          I’m quite serious.

                        • elsa_mama says:

Yea I am sure they do — but his complaint is that they were not serving to HIM!! This was at a dinner where he was not ordering but being served a set menu …

                        • Brewski says:

Yes, my hosts always order for me too (family-style at round table). So I just eat it and don’t ask questions. I saw some of the things I ate when they were still alive (cooked to order), and I still have no idea what the hell they were.
                          Not recommended for squeamish Americans.

                        • Malicite says:

I was there for 10 weeks when I was younger, and we went to one of those family, round table restaurants…

(Going into this story, you must know that I got dysentery and had only eaten the sweet breakfast bread for several weeks leading up to this.)

I went to the buffet style area and selected what good eats I wanted to have prepared by some griller in the center of the table. My eyes lit up. Never before, or after, had a foreigner in China been so elated!!! They had BUFFALO WINGS! I grabbed as many as I could because I was so hungry for real, tasty meat. As we put them on the grill, I made my discovery. They were fetal chickens.

I ate bread and soup the rest of the trip. Due to the sickness, and my issues with the cuisine, I lost over 70lbs on the trip. I have nothing against “exotic” food, but that just wasn’t my cup of tea…

                        • Brewski says:

I got food poisoning on my last visit. The flight home sucked.
Perhaps you’re on to a new diet plan, Mal. You said you’re trying to lose weight, right? So, why not take a vacation in China?

                        • Malicite says:

That’s not a terrible idea…I could definitely stand to lose 60 lbs or so…then I’ll finally be closing in on my birth weight…

                      • Brewski says:

                        er… ah…

You may have something there Brewski … perhaps that explains it for me. Your comment: I can’t blame somebody for getting turned off on it, because of all the fanatical types out there.

I loved reading all the Harry Potter books but I refused to stand in line @ midnight to get the next release. I waited a few months until the bookstores were fully stocked to get the book. I just don’t like to follow the hype.

I am not judging SW at all, I am simply saying I don’t have the desire to watch it. Sometimes I lose something in my English interpretation, but feel free to correct me if I have misunderstood.

                      • Ms B ♥ says:

I see what you mean there Leila. I actually refused to read the Harry Potter books for years because of this. I finally caved when I was bored one summer after the 5th book came out, and then I was hooked. It’s the same with the damn Twilight books and movies for me too. I read the books and enjoyed them, but I don’t need to see the movies to validate my existence. I may see them later, when all the annoying hype is dead, but the hype about Star Wars is likely to live on forever. Lucas put out the crappy eps 1-3, and people still love the originals, so I think that says something for their value in pop culture.

                        • Leila - not allowing anyone to break her FB spirit today. says:

Agreed. Oh, Twilight!!! I finished the whole series and I am still wondering why I read them. The last book was a complete waste of time. The movie … well, *barf*.

As far as SW, you guys have an alliance living under my roof. If he asks me ‘nice’ I might just break down and watch ONE of them…

You make a good point, Ms. B.
As it stands, today’s culture demands the major part of society to partake in whatever the whole desires and sets as a standard.
Essentially, “validating your existence” can, in some cases, be the only thing makes some movies worth watching.

In my opinion, however, Star Wars I – III completed the whole.
If you found them crappy, I won’t say they weren’t… but there was a certain quality of fullness after they were finished.
That being said, the story and acting aren’t the real point.
Once Ep. I [The Phantom Menace] was released, Lucas and company needed to expand the universe far beyond the reached of six films.
Novels, comics, and video games allowed further expansion into a universe that was impossible to reach prior to their release.
Those who know the difference between Forms I through VII or those who know who Tyvokka [Wookie Jedi for the win] is… simply have no desire to validate their existence with those around them.
They are themselves on a different level than others, and therefore I beg to differ that Star Wars has value only in its pop culture or cult following.
Those in the cult have no idea as to what they’re doing.

I’ve only ever seen “Star Wars” and once at that, when it first came out. Fun for the special effects (which were really amazing at the time) but I wasn’t interested in seeing any of the others when they came out.

But since I am a nice person, dammit, when my boyfriend asked if I would go with him to see a one-man re-enactment of the first 3 movies, I agreed. I was probably the only one in the theater who didn’t get the references and subsequently had the only pair of unsoiled underwear at the end of the evening, it was fun at least to see one person do all of the characters.

                        • Yeah, well. I do love him and stuff. I don’t share his Star Wars geek-fu, but we both have done improv so from that standpoint it was fun for me to watch this guy (clicky!) in action, even if I didn’t always know why he was doing what he was doing.

The couple sitting next to us had just come back from a trip to Paris, where they had become engaged. I couldn’t help but think that her attendance at the show had much to do with the shiny new ring she had on and where she had received it. And no, I did NOT steal it from her. Thought about it, though.

                        • Sorry about the unclear antecedent in the second paragraph.

Like others have said, you shouldn’t judge Star Wars by the overly obsessive fans. The first trilogy is classic cinema, and although they were a pop-culture phenomenon, they are well above the vacuous dreck that usually passes for pop-culture. It can be enjoyed without becoming an obsessive, cosplaying fanatic.
Of course, if you still don’t want to watch it, that’s cool too.

                        • Dear Leila,
Your single layer DVD holds about 4.7GB of information.
Your dual layer DVD holds about 7.5GB.
                          A BRD holds about 26GB.
A BRD also reads much faster than a DVD.

Ms B, new BluRay players boot much more quickly. They are basically a full computer, and the old ones took a while to boot up.

Bose is based not far from me. They’re targeted at the mid-level consumer. Our stuff is usually $10K plus and is custom. Most all of it is out of my price range.

                  • sorry, we were pissed becasue it is not Sci-Fi. The Hobbit is a good read, but I can’t get through even the first book of the series. They are too long and involve entire chapters where nothig happens but waling about.

    Black Knight: No, it isn’t!
King Arthur: Well, what’s that then?
    King Arthur: I’ve had worse.
    King Arthur: You liar!
Black Knight: Come on, you pansy!
[they fight again. Arthur cuts off the Knight's right arm]
    King Arthur: Victory is mine!
    [kneels to pray]
King Arthur: We thank thee, Lord, that in thy mercy –
[cut off by the Knight kicking him]
    Black Knight: Come on, then.
    King Arthur: What?
    Black Knight: Have at you!
King Arthur: You are indeed brave, Sir Knight, but the fight is mine!
Black Knight: Oh, had enough, eh?
King Arthur: Look, you stupid bastard. You’ve got no arms left!

  24. Samael says:

well he is a lord, isn’t he?

  25. mew2 says:

To be fair, Star Wars opened with “Long ago, in a galaxy far far away”…so this one got the “long ago” part right…and isn’t Darth Vader the ultimate Black Knight?

  26. Jenks says:

Its more of a Star Wars win :O

  27. dstar says:

i’d have to say it’s a fashion win. he matches his partner.

  28. thomwoodley says:

    art imitates life!

  29. elsa_mama says:

What? Darth Vadar can’t go to a Renaissance Fair??? That does not seem very fair to me..

  30. granny says:

this serves to reinforce my greatest sexual fantasy of dressing up like darth vader and getting a rusty trombone to the tune of the imperial march

  31. wait, what? you mean, you’re not princess leia?

  32. rabbitinpumpkin says:

It’s nice to know Darth Vader had hobbies besides killing Jedi and his coworkers.

  33. Liz says:

I bet I was there when that picture was taken. It looks pretty mild compared to the other things that you see on “Wrong Day”. The last day of the season for the Maryland Renaissance Festival.

  34. bULLETREE says:

    “Boyfriend Fail”

  35. XxUnlovedxX says:

You see this all the time at the Texas Renfest, lots of clone troopers, and jedi running around. But I can’t say too much, I’ve dressed as Harry Potter and gone there before. :)

    • Shalin says:

There is a lot of Fantasy at TRF and since Star Wars happened “a long long time ago” it could have happened before the Renaissance.

      • DarthMacVader says:

YES!! Isn’t it all just supposed to be a celebration of fantasy and done in fun anyway? LIVE, people, LIVE…bitch less, and LIVE.

  36. bULLETREE says:

    Alternatively…”Boyfriend WIN”

  37. Bugg says:

Dude, who cares about accuracy when you’re at Epcot XD

  38. Sky Dizzle says:

Ummm….I;m gonna go ahead and call this one as a “Win”.

  39. chez says:

Might this be the Darth Vader from cult procession fail? If so he has more than enough win to his name to cover this.

  40. jennyisbusy says:

There is a documentary about the 501st which is an intense band of SW brothers, it is only available in Australia still but we have been waiting for it to come here… I can’t wait the site has a trailer and other info.

  41. Ms B ♥ says:

Is that an ATM on his torso lightbrite?!
    *snickers*
    (clicky)

  42. Avis says:

I used to date a guy who very likely would have done this.
And no, I would not have stood by without dying of embarrassment.

  43. me says:

What’s sad is I met these two at the Ren-Fest in Houston (where this picture was taken). They weren’t the only ones, there was a whole group of Stormtroopers and a guy in a Chewbacca costume, too. For the record, I’m not sure if the sad part is that I met these people or that I was at a Renaissance faire. It was only for the booze, I swear!!

  44. Cyro says:

It’s no really the medieval dark knight xD

  45. Ballsh! says:

For a moment I thought the fail was that Darth Vader’s boobs were bigger than a witch’s.

  46. buba® says:

buba® knows that darth vader wa

  47. hee hee says:

This, I believe, best demonstrates ‘the art of compromise’.

  48. Ureshii says:

Not to ruin the fail, but there’s a logical explanation for this. The pic was taken at the Texas Renaissance festival, which has ‘themed weekends’. One of the themed weekends is Halloween, since the TRF season falls from September to November.

So Darth Goober is prolly a TRF patron in his Halloween costume. God, I hope so at least…

    • me says:

No, they were there opening weekend, when I was…they weren’t the only ones in Star Wars garb, either.

    • Eppie says:

It was not opening weekend. I know because I AM the Lady in the Picture. It was highland weekend after Halloween and they my friends were having fun.

    • DarthMacVader says:

Exactly–just a guy who took on the challenge of sitting at a sewing machine for hours on end with no definite patterns to go off of, and finding a way to make his favorite movie villain’s body armor in his college apartment w/o getting high off of fiberglass resin fumes…strictly a Halloween costume, no Cosplay whatsoever.

    • DarthMacVader says:

Great explanation, Ureshii–now if only the rest of the blog-bashers would read your comment, I could feel a little less like a FAIL and more like a WIN.

The weird thing is, where else can you go dressed up like whatever your favorite genre’s character is and literally have HUNDREDS of people stop you for pictures with their family or friends? It’s kinda cool, I think…

  49. jedibob5 says:

Renaissance Star Wars? Not fail, WIN!

  50. Personage says:

    No Sense of Humor WIN!

    :P

  51. Shalin says:

It’s sooo sad, so many people here unwilling to embrace their inner geek. I guess I’ll have to send the Fairy God Father out after you (Big bald guy in a pink tutu)

    • Th-Rob says:

I thought that was the pretzel fairy…

    • DarthMacVader says:

Yes, Shalin–it is very sad…I tend to wear my inner geek on my shoulder (Galactic Empire insignia tattooed on my right shoulder, literally), and my inner geek rampages all over my desk at work where I sit typing this now (shh-I could get in trouble for this!)

  52. Elaine says:

    I got married at a Star Trek convention… guess I count as a Trekkie…

    • Shalin says:

I meet my husband at TRF (where I think this picture was taken) and got married at Scarborough faire (near Dallas). Best way to hide my liberal religion from my conservative Christian in-laws

  53. Kitty says:

Actually there’s tons more pics of Vader’s adventure at Ye Olde’ Renaissance Faire…….

  54. Aja says:

    I am thine father.

  55. aPRIL says:

At the Maryland Renaissance Festival the last day is “Opposite Day” and you are supposed to come dressed up as something completely wrong for the time period. So it might be appropriate :-p

  56. Aggrotech says:

“Luke, come to the Dark Side….we have turkey legs and bodices.”

  57. Obi-Wan says:

Ok, I know the guy dressed as McVader. I was there with him, dressed as Obi-Wan. The girl was actually my gf, not his. And yes, it was at TRF…the themed weekend was the Scottish weekend, hence the kilt. I had a kilt to match.

    • DarthMacVader says:

HAHAHA–I knew I’d find you on this blog string somewhere…this is hilarious!!!

    • DarthMacVader says:

Obi-Wan, I’m beginning to feel that the Star Wars gear should get left in our closets this time around–especially for Scottish Highland weekend. Halloween weekend, maybe…but the kilts will not sported around Jedi Or Sith robes this time. Agreed? WIN or FAIL regardless, it hurts to lose 10 lbs in one day wearing all that crap.

  58. anon says:

Thats not a fail, thats a win! Its in the same catagory of klingons crashing the renfair

  59. chemicalpink says:

This looks like the Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, TX. And I know when I went last year, I saw a Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper – it was Halloween weekend.

    • PatDaRat says:

I agree. this looks like the tex ren fest. My girlfriend and myself are there a min of once a weekend during ren fest season. Theres all kinds of people wearing all kinds of outrageous costumes.

  60. gaynorvader & Patricia (finished her exams) says:

What the hell guys! You’ve missed the whole point! Everyone knows Darth Vader was present in medieval times, it’s three people in the left background wearing jeans which are the fail! ;)

  61. efox says:

“Look, I know you wanted to go to your little convention, but I have interests too!”
“Can I at least wear the mask?”
    “Fine!”

  62. Bekko says:

I thought that Darth Vadar was helping King Aurther destory all the dark knights in his kingdom. All my knowledge means nothing now!!!

  63. carnivaldead says:

That would be a win in my book

  64. Mint says:

That’s the Ren Faire in Colorado… historical inaccuracy abounds there, anyway.

  65. Blacksmith says:

Actually more historically accurate than 98% of the SCA…

  66. ARIA! says:

Darth Vader + Kilt = amusing historical inaccuracy. I would take a helluva lot of pictures… just because. LOL

  67. Button says:

That’s a WIN. I’m so going to the RenFest in a storm trooper costume just to confuse people. Hilarious.

  68. Andrew says:

I see at least one person dressed up as a Star Wars character every time I go to a Renaissance festival. In fact, one time I saw Darth Vader followed by a whole group of Stormtroopers. What is wrong with these people? Just because you can dress up doesn’t meant it’s Halloween. It’s not funny, it’s not original, it’s not cool, and it distracts from the Renaissance atmosphere of the event. If you want to wear a costume, that’s fine., just try to find something that fits in with the event.

    • DarthMacVader says:

      Andrew–
You must’ve been with the crowd of ripped-Wrangler-jeans & stained-wifebeater-tshirt wearing rednecks who couldn’t think of anything else better to do between beer-spillings and Skoal-chewings than to obnoxiously make fun of the smarter, more creative people in costumes that you’re secretly jealous of.
Have fun day-dreaming of being like myself and my gifted friends while you rub your pathetic appendage and cry yourself to sleep…and take your COMPLAIN FAIL with you.

  69. Mike Unt says:

Andrew… why are you even on this website??

  70. AbbyK9 says:

I’ve been to quite a few Renaissance Faires and quite honestly, Darth Vader’s costume is about as authentic as 99% of Ren Faire workers and participants at most of them….

  71. cowgurl_chic says:

i know were this is… its the Reniassance Festival here in Texas and ive seen the darth vader… he is in the hourly parade!!

  72. Tristen says:

    IHAS AN POtATO

  73. brutalfruitcake... says:

Yeah i’m pretty sure that’s a Flemish lion and not the British lion from their coat of arms >_<.

  74. slatfatf says:

still, more historically accurate than Braveheart, i suppose.

  75. DiadTribe says:

One of the best story lines of Star Trek and other sci-fi’s was when they dropped in on “The Past”. Even “Back to the Future” did it. And the most important directive was not to change anything. Look, act and dress the part.
I think anyone who wants to be a character from a different era needs to follow these rules. They can be Capt. Kirk. But they have to be Kirk trying no to be detected. Then if you happen to pass some other “aliens” at the festival , and you pick up on the fact that they are “different”, it will be something only you and they know. They wouldn’t blow each others cover in the street. That would be dealt with later. A few light years away.
Now that is acting! That takes skill! That my friend is entertainment!
But I would hope that the local witch would be picking up on some of this.

    • Ground Control to Major Tom says:

But what if they want to be seen?

If you walk in to a ren fair wearing a Darth Vader costume, you think it’s funny.
      Well you know what?
Its …it is actually pretty funny.

    • DarthMacVader says:

Truth–more attention was attracted the 1st time I wore the Vader getup to TRF, sans kilt, and the crowd of people throughout the day was so overwhelming that my friends & I could hardly enjoy the festivities. The Kilted Vader idea was amusing to many, and a relief to the wearer–I didn’t have to trip over half as many kids wanting pictures.

  76. Anastrianna says:

Scadians are wholly accurate! They do tons of research on the Middle Ages for everything!

  77. haunms says:

    that must be nice belgium!

  78. Aynilial says:

Never saw Darth, but I do have a photo of a storm tropper in a kilt that I took at a Renfest in NC (outside of Charlotte).

  79. Adrian says:

It was a long time ago! STFU, WIN

  80. mike says:

Standing out in the crowd win!

  81. Dust and Echoes says:

“A long time ago in a galaxy far far away”
    Historically accurate enough for me

  82. Meowmix says:

I’m sorry, but that is such an epic fail its almost a win- combining two nerd pursuits into one- my rolled brim veil/sith cape hood is tipped to you, sir.

  83. Ramondetta says:

erm.. this is an evident win.

  84. Dandelion says:

I agree, this is win. More like sarcasm detection fail on FailBlog’s part!

  85. Kirachan says:

I saw him when i went to the Texas Ren fair last year, there were a bunch of storm troopers wandering around too

  86. usehumor says:

Can we rule out a celtic ancestry for Darth Vader?

  87. Ground Control to Major Tom says:

A Kansas ren fair was also hit by people who think it’s funny.
They thought it would be REAL FUNNY do dress up in spacesuits and star trek gear and walk into the ren fair!
Mainly because it was actually really, really funny.

  88. Jamie says:

This is the Texas Renfest… I used to work here. *Shame*

  89. lexii says:

may the stupidity be with you!!!

  90. Dakhran says:

Hey, I think Maryland Renaissance Festival has this topped on the last day of the festival, also known as the Day of Wrong — we usually see a few dozen vampires, stormtroopers, some Darths of various types (Vader, Maul), a Viking Klingon, and even Alf!

  91. Crash says:

    Darth McVader

  92. Dubya says:

I disagree completely. This is totally a win. I mean, c’mon. Just imagine. Darth Vader riding a Rancor, just riding into Ye Olde England, and becoming the new king using his dark magic, and causing peoples death, and magical glowing stick.

    • DarthMacVader says:

LMFAO!!!! Not even in MY wildest imaginations would I have conceived that image, but I’ll remember it now–thanks Dubya!!

  93. ANUBIS865 says:

May the fail be with you

  94. Marc says:

Apparently Darth Vader is the Black Douglas?

  95. Meganite says:

    Well, that’s definitely a creative anachronism…

  96. Lilith says:

Darth Vader = Instant Win. Even if he is photoshopped to appear in Hello Kitty Style. Sort of falls in the category of “Instant Awesome Just Add Dragons”.

  97. Anoxos says:

I’m not sure which is the bigger FAIL… McVader, or the fact that I can recognize which renfair he is at just from the background of the picture (Texas Renfair)… :/

  98. austin dalton says:

i do believe that that is Maryland ren fair? am i correct?

  99. Ethan says:

Meh, I work at a renaissance faire, and this sort of stuff happens all the time. We’ve had people in banana costumes, samurai, viking, bunny, and, of course, vader.

  100. john says:

that is in kansas i would recognize that building in the backround anywhere

  101. skiff says:

Dude, I’ve worked at this place for like ten years. Its the Texas Renaissance Festival’s Scottish themed weekend, and I distinctly remember seeing this guy.

    • DarthMacVader says:

Hey Skiff–where @ TRF do you work? Perhaps I’ll make a point of running into you there (w/o the Vader suit this time, methinks-this year’s proving to be a little too hot)…I think this whole mess serves as my 15 minutes of fame for 2009 anyway.

  102. DarthMacVader says:

Hiya ‘Eppie’–can you believe our photo ended up on here? HUZZAH for Internet infamy/notoriety!!
    To clear up some questions/curiousities:
I’m the dork in Vader garb, the location is the Texas Renaissance Festival near Houston, my buddy (who’s not pictured there) was ALSO wearing a kilt & sash over his Obi-Wan costume-which I made both his stuff & mine while being extremely bored behind a sewing machine, and this wasn’t the 1st time we went to TRF in Star Wars gear; we actually saw a guy in white Stormtrooper armor sporting a kilt 2 years prior, so we thought it would be a gas to take his efforts up a notch…it’s all in great fun, and well worth the 5-10 lbs of water weight lost during the course of a day in costume while having literally hundreds of pictures taken with adoring fans of the Vader character. And it’s just awesome to break from the norm and enjoy our dorky individuality a couple times a year.
Now if I could only get my wife to dress up like this…

  103. Jacob Foster says:

That place is called the Renaissance Festival! It looks just the the one that I go to, and I live in Houston, Texas so I guess it would be the closest Renaissance Festival closest to here…. If there is more than one…

  104. Stephen says:

Seeing Sci-Fi characters show up at a ren faire, is nothing new..
But, Darth Vader, in scottish attire, that’s just wrong!

  105. Fluffy Luffles says:

Is it just me, or does that sun glare come out juuust right…

  106. Linranis says:

This is the annual Maryland renaissance fair.
