Maybe my word choice is poor again, but I know it is my fault whenever I try to say something and what I mean is not what comes across. I do not deny my responsibility for the miscommunication, I know it is what I wrote that did not come through as I planned.

Yes intolerant people don’t demonstrate decency, but why are they intolerant? There are deeper questions that must be answered. He in the end still deserves sympathy.

I wasn’t saying the problem lay in the readers hand. I stated that the problem was mine own. By mentioning dragon, I was saying that she could back up my statement of not being able to say what I mean properly. That is all. I never meant to defend him on the basis of his eat crap attack. Correlation does not imply causation. Just because you two were the first to respond, it does not mean I am referencing you two. That was the whole point of me generalizing it to a term; regulars. In general situations most regulars was the intended target.

A question though, you see a mob of 5 people attacking one man. What do you do? I would help the man, because even after finding out he robbed them all, it still does not justify all 5 of them beating the living daylights out of him. It makes me sad to even think of this. When I mean I would help him, in this case our actual situation that transpired, I mean I would say something along the lines like, “okay enough people have told him he is stupid/wrong, acting like a bigot.” All the while more and more people a crowding in to say he should curl up and die, not literally of course. I would not defend what he actually said, I don’t intend when I defend them to defend what they are communicating in no way. I would use more of a damage control method to stop the mob beat down. In reference to your don’t respond method for the characters. That would be pretty hard considering you and dragon post alot and are part of many of the conversations that go on.

You claimed that not everyone is capable of expressing themselves well, yourself included, and that this can lead to problems. You did not have to mention Dragon’s name to make this point; all you had to do was admit that you have this problem. You did more, though, you suggested that the problem lies with the reader. You implied that Dragon has misinterpreted your intent in the past, and you confirmed this in your second post. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. If you have a problem expressing yourself, you can’t blame the reader.

In this context, both Dragon and I were regulars that responded to “5″, and Dragon was the first to do so. By expressing your opinion about harshness on this occasion, without expressly claiming otherwise, implies that you think Dragon and I were too harsh and too quick to challenge “5″ and have done so similarly with others in the past.

Again, you’re implying that this happened in this case if you don’t qualify your intent. I specifically asked for “5″ to back up his claim. He provoked a response, and we’re ready to be enlightened by his wisdom.

Characters that don’t mesh are typically ignored. If you think you don’t mesh with someone, don’t call their name out in your posts, reply to their comments, insert yourself into their conversations, and generally try to get into their good graces if they’re trying to ignore you. Doing so is asking for information you may not want to hear.

If you continue defending the indefensible, your own intentions and beliefs will remain difficult to gauge.

A case a point here. I when brought out dragons name was saying that, “Bad word choice is a problem I know I suffer from, Dragon I know you can attest to that.” Meaning Dragon and I have had discussions about some posts I have made. I meaning that I did not intend ended up being inferred. By the general population not just DW. I had to spend the next 30 or so posts to get what I really meant out.

I knew my comment was poorly written, yes, I was tired and extending a curfew to keep reading and posting. At that point I also had a parent in the room, telling me it was time to pack it in… Though I don’t think that a valid excuse myself, as I know that I as I have said before am not proficient at proof reading. The most I ever do is google words which I do not know how to spell.

In response to the words in the mouth statement. Well as you can see I haven’t really done that. Though in that paragraph you can infer why I would think you hate me. Considering the tone that I get out of it, but it is alright. In the end like me or not I have to deal with it.

I believe screening oneself, asshat or not, will stop oneself from posting the obviously insulting stuff. Screening would stop trolls completely, well if they screened themselves. That is just my opinion though.

Yes I can not tell if someone is restraining themselves in a post. All everyone ever sees is the words on the screen. I just feel that 50 responders to one person, yes everyone deserves a say, its more of badgering then responding. Yes s/he said something that was out of line, I just don’t feel that a mob response of anger (if there was anger at all) is that necessary. As I have said many times before, I am a fan for the underdog. 5 people attacking a person, whatever happened I will help the one as it is not fair. That is just how I am I can’t help it. I read the trigger, I always try to, so that I have the whole story.

Emp, let me respond to the parts of your post that I can make sense of. Is it that hard to proof your posts before submitting them? If you can see that your comment is poorly written after you send it, then you can determine that beforehand, too. Knowing that your comment is poorly written and sending it anyway delivers the message that you don’t care. If you don’t care, why should I care to read it?

Some comments are so out-of-line as to deserve immediate challenge. How do you know that the regulars you believe are too quick to respond aren’t showing restraint? If you only notice the reactions and not the triggers, then the responses will seem harsh and sudden. Please show where I or Dragon, since we’ve been singled out, have not given someone a chance to explain themselves. We have repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to exchange ideas and debate courteously with those that are willing to do the same.

Putting words in other people’s mouths is irritating. You did it with Dragon and then again with me. I don’t hate you. It takes a LOT to make me hate someone. Add your comment above to the list containing poor word choices.

It wasn’t how “5″ delivered what he wanted to say that was bad. It WAS what he wanted to say that was offensive. Screening oneself is not the answer. If you have something to say you should feel free to express it, but you should also be prepared to defend it. No amount of self-screening will hide an asshat’s true nature for very long.

As usual, I can understand that word wrote don’t have a specific meaning transmitted with them. I.e I cannot say how these words are to be taken. Bad word choice is a problem I know I suffer from, Dragon I know you can attest to that. I do feel the regulars are a bit harsh, or quick to hit in a sense, whenever someone does something wrong. Understood that there are some characters that do not mesh, personally I am trying to adjust my own perspective and the way I display myself so that AA won’t hate me, well at least as blatantly hate me. Giving a person a chance to explain themselves is a courtesy we should always grant. I do agree he did not deliver what he wanted to say in the proper way, we do have to screen ourselves while we are here. Stereotyping is never good though we deal with it everyday. It is ugly thing that we know goes on, but should be left unsaid. Regardless of our personal opinions on the subject. My thoughts are scrambled, yes, as I just have come back from work and am a bit tired. SP errors, SF, |P all are present I know. I just wanted to get that off my chest. *Grabs wineglass out of jacket, grabs ones own wineglass, pours. Places wine bottle on table. Backs away as to not disturb the now happy group.*

I hate the repeating parts. Somebody on here said before it’s like the guy who tells a lame joke and then repeats the punch line saying, “see??!?! see?!?! this is why it’s funny!!!” it takes away from the humor a lot of the time.

The only time it’s really useful is if the funny part happens too quickly to be seen at regular speed, like say the video of the bird getting sideswiped by a pitch during a baseball game. Otherwise it’s lame. I would have gotten rid of that instead of the intro, personally.
