Honestly, this seems more like bridge fail than a truck fail to me. I mean, why would you build something that's almost tall enough for the moving truck n00bs to get their vehicle under, but not quite? Memo to the architect: trolling IRL just makes you look like the shittiest person alive when it costs other people thousands of dollars.

Yep, this is a railroad bridge over Gregson St in Durham. There's an overhead concrete barrier just in front of the bridge that takes all the hits.

I can only guess that the clearance sign says that the bridge is higher than it actually is. That, or there's way more idiots around than I thought.

It really isn't the trucks who are failing. It is the dumb engineers who built the bridge too low who are failing.

It totally is the bridge over Gregson! I think it happens about once a week. Some friends used to have an office in Brightleaf right next to it and they would hear a bang and they always knew.

I think they installed a really strong steel structure in front last year to shave off the trucks before they hit the bridge.

There's a similar one on the other side of Downtown that I pass under on my way to work daily, at Roxboro and Pettigrew streets. It also has MULTIPLE signs, with flashing lights. I think they even *decreased* the height on the sign a few years back -- not sure if it was incorrect to start, or they just decreased it hoping fewer dumbass truck drivers would go, eh, I'm close enough, I'll make it. Either way about once a month or so as I'm driving by, there will be traffic diverted because someone's stuck.

The brilliant part of this one though is that road underneath actually goes uphill under the bridge, so the opening is taller than the actual clearance. Seen many a truck approach with caution, see that they clear the front, and keep going only to get wedged under the bridge. Would love to see a traffic cam from that intersection.

But as JessGH says, these are some OLD and solid bridges. They don't build 'em like they used to. Though it is still amusing (and a little scary) to pass underneath and notice all the scrape marks on the concrete above.

Well...in defense for the drivers stupidity on running under a low bridge, all the trucks shown in the video are of a "box" or "straight" truck variety. In most states you do not need a CDL to drive any car or truck under a set weight, and that weight is set at some ungodly high GVWR like 10,000lbs. Considering your average pick-up truck fully loaded with concrete can set you at roughly 6,500lbs, this leaves way too much room to be exploited. So an idiot fresh out of drivers ed and still legitimately drive one of these trucks without any formal training.

In essence, wanna-be trucker noobs don't know how to read a map, or in regards to all the flashy bright signs all over the street, read at all. They Fail miserably. I will defend the Win on the bus' part though. You do need a CDL to drive a bus, and the driver knew they would fit (barely) under the bridge.
