England is a province of the UK, just as California, Texas, New York, et al. are provinces within the USA. Why do I call them provinces and not states? Because, technically, a state is a country. So there.

uk is what you call a Kingdom, since the old mother here rules over all but republic of ireland

By definition the individual states in the United States are Soverign States under the Federal Government. Using this definition England is more than a state because the monarch is the King of England AND the King of Scotland.

History Fail!

The UK became a unified state in 1707. Authority rested with a central government, although the unified state was comprised of several nations.

Properly speaking, each of it’s constituent entities has a great deal of authority over local matters.

If it were not a Limited Monarchy with a Parliamentary System, the UK would be just like any other Federal system of government.

Backwards. Great Britain is the island (Lesser Britain would be Ireland, except calling it that will cost you your kneecaps. England is the southeast and central part of Great Britain. Ireland is not part of Great Britain (which is why the full name of the UK is “The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”. The state known asIreland (as opposed to the island known as Ireland) is most definitely not part of Great Britain (hence the formerly-frequent kneecappings).

England’s just a broad term for the entire island there in the Atlantic. Great Britain would be what we Americans commonly think of as the “English”, then there’s Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

Umm… they are two completely different continents. There are seven continents. North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antarctica. They are each on a different continental plate. That’s geography. Mexico is in North America, as is most of central America. Latin America is the countries in North and South America together that speak languages from the latin family of languages, such as Spanish or Portuguese. It is not a continent, but Mexico is part of it. Technically Canada should be since French is a Latin language, but nobody counts them.

Of course there is a continent of America. The fact that it is divided in North America and South America is merely for geographic reasons. Those two are not continents, they are sections of America, called sub-continents.

By the way, when you consider the division North America and South America, Mexico is in North America, but when you change South America for Latin America, then Mexico is in Latin America; this last one is a division of language, having nothing to do with Geography.
