Were I in the man’s position, I’d do the same. I should not have to be thanked for what should be a basic skill of driving: turning the steering wheel.
It’s one thing to be concerned about your car’s sight-lines. If it’s that big an issue, just drive on and find another, more accessible parking spot. Don’t take up 45 minutes (exaggeration, yes, but you know what I mean) of everyone else’s time trying to learn to park.

The same thing used to happen to me whenever my ex drove. She insisted on driving everywhere but then I’d always have to help her parallel park and what not.
How can you be such a bad driver? More than once in the video she almost had it – when she pulled her front left corner towards that other vehicle I was practically shouting, “Turn your wheel right and you’ve got it!” But no, she had to back up with the wheel pointing left, like that would somehow cause her to end up in a different spot than before…

I’m crap at reversing into a spot (although granted, not as hopeless as she is, I just need to straighten my car on after the first try, I never seem to get the point where I need to turn the wheel correct, so it always goes too long or short), but I am the Master of Parallel Parking. For real. I almost always get it in one single try, and even in tight spaces.
I once watched an Arab in a Ferrari in Beverly Hills attempting to parallel park his obviously brand new car, smashing repeatedly into the car in front and in back of him.

What the hell are those cars in front of the parking space doing there, anyway? At first I thought they were just waiting for her, but one is facing the other. It looks like they’re parked perpendicularly to the actual parking spaces behind them…I really, really hope they’re just waiting for her to park, and that they aren’t actually parking there.
In which case it’s not a complete fail…obviously parking is possible but the driver sucks at it, but it would have been easier if those cars weren’t in front of it.
