Yes we’re the bad ones for scambaiting. These “poor” nigerians are victims of us living “The American Life.” What about all of the Americans that have been scammed out of EVERY penny they own due to these poor Nigerian “victims.” They prey on Americans and make up BS stories to pull on heart strings to scam MILLIONS of people out of money. Amen. These “Scambaiters” are the ultimate in FAILure. They have no conception of what life is like in the third world. If I lived in Lagos and found out that there were people stupid and rich enough to give me thousands of dollars and all I had to do was appeal to their own greed it would be irresponsible of me not to do so.

There’s a great “This American Life” about the vigilante heroes of scambaiting. Check out the free podcast. Listen to our heroes, defending ignorant Americans from our own email inboxes! Hear them howl like monkeys as they send poor dupes into areas where civil wars are taking place! Marvel at their brilliance!

It simple.
You get an email from someone offering you a fortune for nothing.
You reply showing interest.
The lad responds and all of a sudden you are asked to pay fees. Fees for layers, courier companies etc.
So you decide to lead him on. You set up an email account in a fake name, and you offer him money, but only if he joins your fake church. You can’t ask him for cash as that is not allowed in the better scambaiting sites, so you go for a “Trophy” – a picture of the lad doing stupid things.

This was part of the initiation ceremony. He has to to find 2 other “converts” to help him with the ceremony.

Of course he gets no money, is humiliated, and his time and effort has been wasted. Time that he could have used targetting a real victim.
