By the way, this guy used to have an AMAZING voice, then was in a serious accident and went into acoma for a couple years, and when he came out he lost full control of his vocal cords.

It sounds like he doesn’t speak much or any English, and he did a good job of memorzing the song phonetically. His voice was pretty good, too. All and all, two thumbs up!

This is NOT William Hung. For one thing William Hung is tone def, and this guy can carry a tune (tho he may have made some questionable choices stylisticly). For another, they don’t even remotely resemble one another…what FailBlog, do all them “Orients” look alike to you?

i think he did well for being asian and dealing with that accent. i am sure if we tried to sing a song in korean we would suck too. lol.! maybe i like dorks, and i would love a little nerd to go up and embarrass himself shamelessly to win my affections, and most girls should learn to appreciate that crap.
the guy put his heart into it, it isn’t american idol, he’s just trying to get a date, and you know what, i think it would work for me.
too many people are fixated on being COOL, and too many guys are too proud to show courage like that and really put themselves out there, but i liked this video and i think it illustrates perfectly what a romantic idea is. . i know i’m a cheeseball, but at least i admit it. lol

Thank you, Nick! He does do a falsetto voice rather well, and it bothers me how many people don’t understand that going into falsetto and back into normal voice is a legitimate singing technique. The people making castration “jokes” ought to try to see if they can do a falsetto voice themselves. Maybe then they’d give Korean Boy some credit for being able to pull off what they can’t do.

This guy didn’t fail at all. He’s way above the 50th percentile of humans when it comes to singing. But it’s not interesting to see videos of average things because that’s everyday life – entertainment is the fantastically good or the fantastically bad.

Yup, and even more surprisingly, that girl Olivia Olson, had to be trained to sing worse than she could have sung it. The director had to teach her to sing worse to make it more believable that a girl could sing that good.

Ok.. I was REALLY expecting colossal fail here! As a voice teacher and classical singer, I have a terrible affinity for self-torture by listening to horrible recordings.. BUT! He’s remarkably in tune.. his falsetto is well supported and clear.. his rhythm and overall feel for the line and general musicality are quite good. A Fail? Hmm.. only if we count his “engrish” diction. But as someone stated before, most people don’t sing nearly this well in a foriegn language. I’d like to see ANY of you who are being harsh and negative learn and perform a Korean, Mandarin chinese, Arabic or Farsi song and hope to have even ONE of the phrases being understood. German, Italian or Spanish might be easier to manage as native “engrish” speakers, but even French and Russian pose enough challenges that most Americans fall on faces. (or should I say FAIL on their faces?) Just my opinion. (and no.. I can’t sing in Mardarin, Korean, Arabic or Farsi either.. and linguistics is a huge part of what we do as classical singers)
