Actually… You don’t need it going through the handle to prevent the door from opening – the door will open – you just can’t separate it from the door frame. The car door I mean – you can’t separate that.

You could just cut the chain… or smash the window, but then again not really worth stealing the stuff, or car from this guy, because if he can’t afford a replacement, then his stuff is gunna be worth nothing.

1. the other door may work perfectly fine and there is merely a problem with the drivers side door locking mechanism
2. the photographer decided to take a picture of only one side so the lock can be seen clearly. attempting to take a picture of both doors at once would be photograph fail

I don’t think you understood the puzzle, contrary to your statement, you would twist the chain trying to turn the eyebolts. It is a chain, not a mobius strip or a escher-esque contraption. If they are standard thread, you have to turn counterclockwise. That is practical impossibility if they are connected with a 1/2 inch proof chain. In addition, the the eyebolts are probably held in with nuts, unless the guy tapped threads into his truck, which is doubtful.
Furthermore, unless you break the window and hold the nuts with a wrench they will just turn with the eyebolt.
The chain does matter. if you got into your garage as opposed to on your computer you would probably be able to figure this out.

By the time you’re considering over-torquing the bolts to remove them (and wouldn’t the chain through the eyeholes keep you from twisting it much?), you’re probably ignoring a much simpler solution, like using some kind of cutting device to just destroy the chain. Then again, the main mission of an anti-theft device on a car is to make it more trouble than it is worth to break in. Car thief looks at this, he’ll probably just keep walking until he finds a car with an unlocked door in the same parking lot

Actually I did inordinately well on the mechanics portion of the ASVAB, which is probably why I see that this doesn’t work and how to overcome the situation.

Even if the eye bolts were cinched down with 3/4th inch bolts, you can still move them with enough torque. Yes, you’d cause damage but it still could be done. Plus the chain doesn’t matter if you know how to work the puzzle. How did you do on the ASVAB?

Someone grab a torque wrench so you can unscrew your head from your bottom so you can be wide eyed and blinking for your own little sweet comment FAIL!

Duly noted sir; however, what is to stop you from breaking the window of a vehicle that is not padlocked. Looks to me like it was a cheap fix for a broken lock. So, it is not so much a fail as it is a jibe at someone redneck enginerring a lock for their early to mid eighties ride.

Not so much. Good luck unscrewing eyebolts with a chain through them, and with cinched down 3/4 inch nuts on the other side. You did not do too well on the mechanics portion of the ASVAB did ya? So, stand corrected and receive a COMMENT FAIL!
