First! haha!
I guess the force was with you on that one…
I would’a tried to come up with something better than first, but the pressure was immense to hit that send button before someone else would…
man, I still can’t believe I made it though. What a day!
Good effort; your work is done. This entitles you to do nothing for at least an entire month.
A month and 3 days (pumpkin time).
They say it happens to all guys the first time.
Performance anxiety, the new name for premature commentulation…..
… a cousin of emailectile dysfunction.
Yeah, just like
Damn it! *Thinks of ways to blame fail blog.*
If Failblog fails is it really a fail?
If a blog fails in the forest, is it still a tree?
Neither a FAILer nor a blogger be.
But you can still hear it.
That depends on whether you mean to blog a fail in the “no fail” Failblog.
well, yes, it is a fail. but isnt that the whole point of the blog?
Who’s ‘they’? Definetly not the guys in question… right?
your mother
Is this you, dad?
Hey! I was here first!
SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI!!!
Hey! Hi there! We could have used you yesterday!
lol. I guess that answers the age-old question of “Who came first, the chicken or the egg?”
By the way it took me 7 times to spell my name right. Fail.
The Pumpkin Show has been held annually since 1903. Despite it still being held during the influenza outbreaks of 1918-1919, The Pumpkin Show was silenced for three years during World War II.
It was silenced due to pumpkin rations all over the USA for the war effort. Even the “pumpkins” we did have were actually zinc alloy.
So why didn’t they ever show up in Linus’ pumpkin patch?
Obviously because the pumpkins were fighting the Nazis.
Huh. I didn’t even really know that it was actually cancelled. I was just guessing xD
Lucky guess WIN.
Hey I love in this town lol and its called circleville pumpkin show is held every october and it was cancelled for 3 years cause of world war II and if this was real it would be an epic fail(If anyone sees this from circleville its justin green
the funny fat fuck) <—— I fail I know
What if they missed three years doe to some random cataclysmic events that led them to be unable to hold this “Pumpkin Show”?
Funny Fail Fail.
That would make it the 100th Show not the 100th anniversary.
You are correct – It’s on Wikipedia. They missed three years during WWII.
Well that would mean it would be the 100th; a centenial is a mesure of time from the initial date so it is not dependant on how many times it happens in-between.
You are correct … 100th Show, but the 97th show was probably the 100th anniversary of the first show. But who’s counting?
Or, as it’s known during the Pumpkin Show, Gourd War II.
How do you propose they lost three years?
It’s because we keep breaking the space-time continuum. The three years just vanished, with a big “poof”.
Well, we can’t count the year Godzilla attacked, he ate the whole pumpkin crop and we were just too sad and dis-heartened to celebrate.
…Oh, no, they say he’s got to go…
Helpless people on a subway train scream for god as he looks in on them.
oh oh .. gogo godzilla!
I’m guessing Marius and ErickB are of my generation…
just talkin’ ’bout my g-g-g-generation
Who?
maybe this TOWN can SEND us an answer
Our you talking about m-m-m-y generation?
The locust plague year doesn’t count either, no one was able to come out of the house in order to have the celebration.
To answer your previous question, I was in GA fixing up my father-in-law’s house. Back in chilly Jersey now, though.
*chuckle* well be sure to give Ryannon a hug good bye when she heads for the sticks
GOD-ZIRRA!!! GOD-ZIRRA!!
Where’s BondFan when you need him?
GO-JIRRA!! GO-JIRRA!!
Or the space-irony continuum.
Maybe they lost the 3 years at school when they tought adding and substracting…
Apparently the same teacher who *taught* spelling…
Ar yoo gona tich me hau to spel nao? Oo du yoo thinc yoo argh?
P.S.- …and yes, you’re right. (dammit!)
maybe the time change threw them all off and they set their clocks back 3 years.
It took you three years to learn addition and subtraction?
That’s what happened, actually. They didn’t hold the Pumpkin Show for three years during WWII. I live about 20 miles south of Circleville and I’ve been to it a few times. Those folks are hard core about pumpkins. Pumpkin fries, pies, candy and even (gag) beer.
Damn! Now that sounds like a heck of a festival! I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin cake, pumpkin bread and pumpkin beer/ ale can either rock or not depending on who makes it!
damn you failblog eating my link!

…
Wow – they even had a Miss Pumpkin Show (and yes, she had nice pumpkins!)
Maybe the “Slutty Pumpkin” girl that Ted was looking for in the Halloween episode of “How I Met Your Mother” was in fact a Pumpkin Queen?
Roasted pumpkin seeds are a good snack, too.
pumpkin hardcore? *masturbates*
Top shelf pumpkins. Wow!
I also live about 20 minutes away from Circleville! And yes, it’s ridiculous that so many things could be made to be pumpkin themed. It’s unnatural.
You are not far off. In actuality.. Circleville, the town was founded in 1903, but the first Pumpkin Show was not held until 1906. This IS a “funny fail fail”.
Okay, people are getting their reasons mixed up . . .
I bet Circleville isn’t even a real place.
It’s not. It’s a magical pumpkin town that comes to life once a year when the good fairy sprinkles fairy dust on a big pumpkin patch in Ohio.
and the Great Pumpkin is the mayor, and Jack Skellington is the local congressman.
It is, it’s in Ohio (south of Columbus) I went to this years pumpkin show
It’s real… I grew up there… and we missed three years during WWII. Unfortunately it looks like we don’t know how to word it
attack of the killer tomatoes!
You fail, it’s pumpkin show, you ketchup-brain!
alright, where’s my sausage?
Well if your male, then it would normally be in between your legs – but if you were male one would think you’ld know that, which leads me to the conclusion that you must be female and thus will never find a sausage of your own
Unless you marry of course…
and if your male and married, your wife has it.
I have news for you, your wife doesn’t want it.
She may have sold it on eBay.
Is that what that was? I thought it was a tea cozy.
if it was up in you, you’d know where it was.
hopefully.
5th!
Count again
Actually, don’t.
Well, you can count again, just don’t bother to tell us. Thanks.
He can count on us to take no account of his counting.
I don’t think he was counting. I think he was bragging about being in possession of some vodka.
It’s 100 in pumpkin years.
evidently
my dear watson
Sherlock reference: you’re doing it wrong.
Mr. Mom reference: you’re doing it wrong.
That film was a little before my time.
Thanks, rub it in, pob.
*Hits POB with cane*
How dirty is this town, in the small part of it shown in this picture i see gum, cigs, and random paper.
It was the pumpkin show! Everyone was off celebrating, that includes the clean up guys.
these ohio farm fests always have huge crowds, this one even names a pumpkin queen, where is jack skelington when you need him!
personally, i think jack would make a much better mascot than that pissweak excuse for a punpkin king they have on their uh nice little manhole cover there
*pumpkin
That’s right, I’m the punking pun king.
more like the pumpkin brained king
And thou shall be my queen. Now bow.
The pumpkin show missed 3 years during wars in the past century due to focusing importance on other things in the city. The 100th pumpkin show was actually 103 years after it first began.
Also, the city is a beautiful, small town. It is not dirty at all.
Hes on honeymoon with his pumpkin pie, Jack the Riper.
Do they drown the Pumpkin Queen when they have finished?
They can’t. Pumpkin queens float.
Then we must build a bridge out of her.
She must be a witch!
She turned me into a newt!
And this was a big celebration indeed. Plenty of booze and drugs, minor riots, congas, etc. Is not only gum, cigs, and random paper; the blood, broken bottles and condoms are out of the picture.
sounds like there’s nothing which can beat this great village event.
Pumpkins are this charismatic.
like your mum.
well, there is a very small town about 2 hours north of this place called Tiro. Tiro has a very odd festival every yer called the Tiro Testicle Festival, this “festival” consits of a bunch of beered up bikers cooking and eating between 350-500 pounds of pork or beef testicles.
wow, that takes alot of balls….
Gotta get your daily dose of yuk.
I have alot of balls
you are a lotta balls?
Alotta Fagina.
*nods* There is one in Wilson KS as well…. they shut down all the other restaurants so you are FORCED to eat this crap if you are in town *shudders*
Pleh. That’s ‘orrible!
mmm, calgarian flavour!
Its a redneck’s dream!
Incidentally, that pumpkin was also the model for the Hog Show Festival manhole cover.
Ive got a couple co-workers that could be models in a hog show.
Sows or boars?
you name it, weve got it
First!!!!!!!!
Not.
WRONG…. my preshusssssssssss….
my priussssss. I like to go green.
*spurts* Oh, great. Now I have to clean water off my monitor because you gave me the image of Gollum in a Prius.
Linus knew! We should have listened to him and his Great Pumpkin Conspiracy! Damn you, Charlie Brown!!!
“Meet the kite-eating tree, you [expletive deleted]!”
Manhole cover WIN…. it’s the third anniversary of the centennial!
thats…. brilliant. I elect you the new mayor of Pumpkinville, USA
LOL
I think 103 years is a Baker’s Centennial, and that means Pumpkin Pie.
you poke pumpkin pie you pay.
Paying pecuniary pittance for peccanimously poking peculiar parochial pumpkin pies
Puck-ishly
Staged. The photographer obviously designed the cover himself and introduced the typo just to appear on Failblog.
and then went back in time to kill Kennedy and cause 9/11.
look at the shadows! the SHADOWS!!1!!1
I can tell because of the pixels.
AHHH!q.
AHHH!q.?
Possibly there were 3 years that the event was not held during WWI and WWII.
War! Huh! (Your comment!) What are you good for? Absolutely NOTHIN’! Say it again! Whoo!
War! Huh! (Your comment!) It’s been said before. Absolutely REDUNDANT! Say it again! Whoo!
The arrows ruin this fail.
Little arrows, little arrows, little arrows everywhere.
But they’re pumpkin-flavored arrows!
Sadly, this is a real event. I grew up 20 minutes from Circleville and used to go there as a kid. They have pumpkin EVERYTHING. They bake a pie that is about a foot thick and 6 ft in diameter. There is a contest for the largest pumpkin, and they have weighed in at well over 800lbs. The really sad thing is that some of the people that display these pumpkins LOOK LIKE THESE PUMPKINS!. (larger around than tall, hooked nose stuck up in the air, various warts sticking out everywhere, you get the picture.) I have travelled the country for 5 decades, and have decided that the ugliest people on the planet hang out here during the Pumpkin Show!
lol this is funny cuz I live near circleville, small town, what a chance
I ain’t yo cuzin, bro.
I ain’t yo bro, man.
I ain’t a man, dude.
I ain’t dude, Lewbowski.
*raspberries to you bill*
ohio is great and there are a lot of great people here. This has to be the most humble and interesting state.
we didnt have the pumpkin show during the war. we missed 3 years. piss off pumpkin show haters who dont even know what youre talkin about. its the greatest. and bill just sucks big red sweaty monkey anus and he was clearly high from licking frogs all day.
………*snork*
LOL!
Tooth anniversary? Oh, I get it, cuz it’s more than two? Har!
This isn’t too far from where I live.
this is hilarious! I’ve been to the circleville pumpkin show and it’s awesome, but it totally failed on this one.
Not very to me. They could’ve cancelled a few shows in the past.
3 years skipped because of WWII
do i spot a double fail i see the misplaced hands with the year fail i’m not sure which one they want us to spot more?
Wow… how could they have missed that? -.- I thought people were educated more -.-…
FYI- It wasn’t a mistake- there were 3 years where the pumpkin show was not held because of the two world wars- so it was the 100th pumpkin show in 2006.
Seems to me, 100th show, 103rd anniversary (of first show).
A birthday is a birthday with or without a birthday party.
?!?!??!? I LIVE IN CIRCLEVILLE!!!! THTS SO WIERD!!!!
They Have it yearly during Oct.!!!
Good job douche bag. I’m sorry that they had to put a hold on the pumpkin show for a few years during WWII So yes it not only is the correct date but also the correct aniversary. Check up on your “fail” before bashing a great tradition
You Fail douche
Bah… calm thyself…
If you don’t know the history of the Pumpkin Show it does look like a big fail.
I’m from that area as well and I find it freakin’ hilarious!
HEY I LIVED BY CIRCLEVILLE!!!
the funniest thing about this one is, that’s around where I live.
I’m from Circleville! I’ve never missed a Pumpkin Show in my 20 years of living! (lame, I know) We do have a slight problem with being obsessed with pumpkins and our public education system is sub-par at best.
But the real reason is in fact because three years were missed for WWII.
this is technically correct because the pumpkin show in Circleville, Ohio did not happen for 3 years during WWII
No, it IS the 100th anniversary because WW2 held up festivity’s for 3 years.
