Not the procedure in general, but in this video in particular, it seems like this baby is in an incredible amount of pain; it's almost like he could go into shock, which is bad, medically speaking. I am not sure how young infants react to anesthesia, but it seems some kind of numbing agent would have kept him a little calmer and possibly quickened the procedure. I believe that's mostly what makes the video so disturbing, the sound of his screams in the background.
