Washington Mutual is a bank in the USA. It is the largest failure in a financial institution in history due to poor fiscal management and problems with the current housing market.

Actually ( replies to Fluffy) I have come to realize that ‘failblog” does not like it when you change your name to make a post. When you do, it seems to take the post a long time to show properly and often another person posting later will cause it to magically appear.

The name of the bank is “Washington Mutual”. It used to be one of the largest banks in the USA, but it closed in September, and it was the biggest bank failure in the USA history.
That made me kind of sad. My first checking account was with Washington Mutual. That was the first account I’ve had that was completely mine, and not cosigned with a parent or guardian.
It’s no wonder though. I just got a letter saying they were increasing their rates on my checking account yet I have never had a checking account with them.
Wells Fargo is trying to charge my dad with a fee and he never had an account with them either. He died in 2005 as well! I have no confidence in our financial institutions.
*trumps everyone* The federal government says I owe for a student loan…. THAT I NEVER TOOK OUT. I have no confidence in our current administration.

Aaaaaactually, WaMu still exists. It’s merely the holding company that has changed to JP Morgan Chase. They estimate 2010 being the year they begin the rebranding to “Chase Bank” . . .

I was there. I tried to take this photo, but couldn’t get a good shot with my crappy phone. So Broman to took the photo. This was the day that the bank failed. We were on our way to watch a presidential debate at our friend’s house on East 3rd. It was an ironic coincidence.
