Think about it… why would the dialpad have the numbers going down?

It would be:

NOT :

NOT photoshopped. if that were the case, the shadow on and around the buttons would each be different with the 3′s shadow being the darkest. These buttons all have the same light consistency.

And I just wanted to say that I am American and understood the “fail” right away.

And St John’s has started specifically saying “triple zero” instead of “triple oh” becuase some young kids were trying to type in tripple “O” by hitting 666 (like in a text messgae). They might have received the wrong kind of help….

Can I just say as amember of the emergency services that checks these phones that yes, it is a fail.

The old phones used to have all the buttons and were replaced with these new phones with just three buttons – pressing any of the three buttons connects you to the emergency services. The sign above is just older.

However, technically in the UK you can also dial 112 for emergency services (this is the europe-wide emergency number) so you could dial that, but like I said any button will connect you.

Can I also add that testing these phones has pitfalls as when you pick the receiver up and put it to your ear you often get an ear full of snail or spider

Doesn’t matter though, our system now has “911″ redirected to 000 because of all the darn American imported TV shows that say “QUICK DIAL 911!”. So all the kids (and even adults) do it. It’s pretty fail really. So now they put about 100,000+ kids through a wasteful time in specialised education, learning that the number is actually “000″ and not “911″ and also to only use in an “emergency”. >.> I hate school.

People that posted there is not a fail here, are failures. How does one dial 9 on that phone? And why do so many assume that the poster is American and complaining about them thinking its 911. You would likely have to live in Europe to take this picture. Unless it is the USA in which case its a double fail.

Actually I agree with mae_chan above, epic win, for pure hilarity.

Just to continue the trend:

1. Yes, 999 is indeed the equivalent of the USA’s 911
2. However, the ‘ fail’ is the lack of a 9 on the phone
3. This does seem unlikely. However, multiple persons have verified it. 4. There may be other reasons for the lack of keys 4-0. However, who cares? That’s not what failblog is about.
