Calling 999 in the UK isn’t a fail since that’s the emergency number. If people called 911 – and they do because they watch too many American TV shows – they’re not going to get the emergency services.

It is a bit both ignorant and arrogant to assume that all American’s are indeed this unintelligible. I was raised in Germany for a good chunk of my youth, then lived in New Zealand where, yes, I spent more than enough time to learn what Bangers and Mash are, though I think Bangers and Mash with a side of sauerkraut is best, yummy.
