  1. Me says:

Oh, hope you didn’t actually want to USE the garage.

  2. elblogchapin says:

    .

  3. elblogchapin says:

    lol! super FAIL

  4. Lemakn says:

    Maybe they drive mini coopers.

  5. ff rick says:

Gee Ocifer, Yes Drinking I have and that pole…………………….

  6. lurrrrrker says:

“Fine! Fine you little brat! You want a basketball hoop in the driveway?! How about one 100 feet tall? Let’s see you win at horse now!”

  7. PongGod says:

    LOL! That’s awesome!

  8. Scan is finished! No driveways were founded!

    • anon says:

      Comment win.

I think the real fail is that hideous blue house next door, actually.

      • ReTARDIS says:

I think that is actually called “Robin’s Egg”. :)

        • ButhedaBunzai says:

Robin’s egg? As in the color? YES but don’t teach people new colors.

A once great comedian said that if a male knows more than 8 colors he is gay.

BEWARE OF WHAT YOU TELL THEM

          • SUOMYNONA says:

How can you be sure that the commentor ISN’T gay or a woman?

          • aaaaanon says:

red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet
            !
if you know one more color than the rainbow, you’re gay! : P

            • Maroon! Aw, shit…..

            • Apache says:

              #FFFFFF

              That’s a coloUr.

              Definitely not gay though!

            • Apache says:

I could acttually name you 16777215 more colours :D

              Still not gay though.

              • patches11 says:

Wanna know how you know you need help? When you say something like that. Even moreso when you say something like that and expect it to come across as amusing or cool.

Or is it really only when you know more powers of 2 than you have fingers and toes?

Is #FFFFFF a presence of all light, or a reflection of all light? Or perhaps it is the absence of no light? Don’t ask GLaDOS. (cake fail?)

            • RETfiRD says:

              Brown

              oh shi..

actually saying indigo and violet instead of purple seems a little gay to me

      • Timm says:

ITS THE BLUE SCREEN TO YOUR SPY WARE
LIKE THE DRIVEWARE TO YOUR BLUE HOUSE NEIGHBOUR
        XP i dunno anymore….

      • Grimbling says:

Is it *painted* that colour? I thought it was just those blue tarpaulins they sometimes put around buildings while they’re still under construction.

  9. Karen says:

If that happened to me, someone’s @$$ would be in a sling, and it wouldn’t be mine!

  10. joe random says:

Is it a utility fail or a driveway fail? Or perhaps they were just getting back at the owners of the house for not paying the bill?

    • Mudd says:

Sad to say this happens a lot. Especially in trendy areas. They build a house, garage, whatever & then demand the utilities to move their pre-existing equipment gratis. Too egotistical to just look at the space before designing the pile o’trash.

      • coyote says:

This is a trendy area? You have got to be kidding me.

      • jonny says:

It does happen a lot, but not just trendy areas with new houses. I’ve lived in communities where they’ve had to upgrade the grid, move poles, etc. The houses are there already and be damned if you happen to have a driveway that falls within the spacing of the poles.

  11. Hello says:

does anyone know where this is?

  12. Brian Lang says:

I would call this a home-builder fail. The utility poles are typically in place when houses are built after all…

  13. observer says:

uh … it’s a flagpole, not a utility pole (it looks like they have underground utilities, anyway)

  14. Bryan says:

Isn’t that a flag pole and not a utility pole? That looks like the string to draw the flag up on the front of the pole.

    But regardless… FAIL

  15. Ken Sykora says:

No way this is real. Cities have permits for this exact reason. Photoshop win?

  16. Don says:

Pff, they can photoshop anything and make us believe it. Sorry, but its a bit obvious here.

    • Puuka says:

      How I would Photoshop it.
1 get house with pole in front of it with no driveway
2 Get pic of house with Driveway, able to cover house in original pic
3 make layer of flag/utility pole, bring to front
4 Paste pic of house and driveway between original and flagpole layer
5 Admire my handy work of having a pic with proper shadows and lighting to fool people on failblog.org.

  17. HammerTime says:

    Photoshopped

  18. nani nani says:

    My that´s one long stick u got there Mr. Driveway D;

  19. Bib1887 says:

This actually happened to my aunt. They built a house and while they were building it, AT&T came in and put one of those hideous green boxes smack in the middle of their driveway. Because that’s just where the guy was told to install it. It took over a year and lots of cursing for my uncle to get AT&T out there to move the daft thing.

    • RichYou says:

Yeah, this happened to my cousin’s brother’s wife. The city just decided to build a huge flagpole to fly their confederate flag, and plopped it right down in the middle of their driveway. And now birds sit on the flagpole and poop all over their driveway, and he’s always washing it. Oh, and the flag flaps so loud they can’t get to sleep. (geez)

      • Shnapple says:

Wouldn’t your brother’s cousin also be your cousin?

        Family fail.

        • Hah says:

He said “cousin’s brother’s wife” not “brother’s cousin’s wife” you nit.

Learn to read before you comment on how stupid someone else is first!

          • Goala says:

The brother of my cousin is also my cousin, so it still is a fail….Hah makes it an epic one though:

“Learn to read before you comment on how stupid someone else is first!”

          • Joe McAwesome says:

Although he did mix it up, it would still be a cousin. Cousin’s brother is assuming that they have the same father…being that guy’s uncle. Making the brother just another cousin. Unless they are black, and they call every one their “brother”then that’s acceptable to elongate that.

        • Michael says:

          Not if it’s a half-brother.

  20. Not Me says:

Oh, that’s my house! That’s our zeppelin docking pole. It’s windmill-powered; we bought it from Al Gore.

  21. SmmuthCriminal says:

Actually, all the boys who cried “Photoshop” need to look at the shadow emanating from the pole.

Rudimentary knowledge of dark and light FAIL

  22. NoThanks says:

In theory that is 413 Farm Street, Rockhampton, Australia -OR- 413 Farm Street, Norman Gardens QLD 4701, Australia. The background is that the pole was there before the house was built and the architect didn’t bother to check the lot and the builder didn’t care.

You can check it out on Google Earth:

    Lat: 23°19′47.00″S
    Lon: 150°31′50.44″E

There’s clearly a shadow of some sort at the end of the driveway.

    • Archwright says:

Enter the lat/lon like this if you want to see the house via google maps. -23°19′47.00″, 150°31′50.44″. Unfortunately, the resolution on maps is so bad that I can’t see the pole, but it’s definitely the same three houses.

      Good work, NoThanks!

I wonder if anyone is going to make a failblog list for google earth/maps. That would be awesome… failure that you can see from space.

    • lolz says:

too much time on their hands fail

    • aaaaanon says:

there we go. i checked it out and it is obviously not photoshopped.

  23. Pescador_Gama says:

That house was built in the wrong place

  24. anonymouse says:

There’s grass around the pole and the driveway splits and wings out on either side single-car width. Looks like an intentional compromise situation. Not great for curb appeal or resale value, though.

  25. jordanwb says:

    Lol funny fail.

  26. rosewoodblues says:

    flag pole identification fail

  27. Mashi says:

    I fail to understand the importance of first comment. :{{{

But yeah, a flag pole/whatever in front of a house is pretty fail.
    Photoshop even bigger fail.

  28. crisatunity says:

Paint the pole black; I hear that it minimizes.

  29. Muhammad The Camel Guy says:

New government mandate to force everyone to ride bikes.

  30. Dapper Swindler says:

    Huh,

So, is every pic on this site Photoshopped, or do the haters just need to believe that the world is perfect?

    • Anon says:

Not shopped. If you type the coordinates: -23°19′47.00″, 150°31′50.44″ into Google Earth and zoom in pretty close, you can barely make out the shadow cast by the flagpole on the driveway. So yeah, it’s a real fail.

  31. underground utilities…yes (there are no wires anywhere)….basketball hoop pole….no (no lines in the driveway)…flag pole….(hmmmm, way stupid like like that makes me giggle)…just general stupidity on some-ones part…..(could be, but, um….)…photoshopped…mebe….mebe MORE than mebe… (good shadows et al, only a tad wide at the curb gives it a ps look….maybe they’re using ps6 and not cs3)

  32. Lord Dragon Claw says:

Looks like no one even lives in the house.

    • MyMalady says:

well what we can’t see is that there is actaually a moving truck just outside of the frame that they have been trying to get into the driveway for months now. oh how irritating

  33. RogueThree says:

Not a fail, a single guy with a Yamaha lives there.

  34. Peityr says:

Even if it is real, that’s obviously a two-car garage. Not as big a FAIL™ as previously thought.

Possibly they paid less for their house than their neighbours because of it. I’d be happy to get a cheap house because a flag-pole blocks the driveway as I don’t own a car.

Important compromise with house prices the way they are. Though I wouldn’t buy such an ugly house as that one. I’m a shack-in-the-woods kinda guy…

  35. BOW DOWN AND WORHIP MY DRIVEWAY PHALLUS!!!!

  36. joe says:

    This screams photoshop.

  37. joe says:

Actually, maybe they built the house behind the poll.

  38. flutterdoc says:

    waiter….there’s a POLE in my soup….

  39. Reddo says:

Guys who have bought it failed at life

  40. Ausarb says:

    Photoshop fail.

  41. coyote says:

Not to comment one way or another on this photo, but is someone yelling PHOTOSHOPPED as inevitable as some twit typing FIRST?

    • Malfeasant says:

or “in soviet russia, utilities pole you!
bend over, i’ll show you inevitable

    • Malfeasant says:

almost as inevitable as “in soviet russia, utilities pole you!”

    • Malfeasant says:

and since failblog seems to be filtering another overused joke, i will say it in russian:
Загиб сверх и я покажем вас неизбежные.
      babelfish.yahoo.com is handy

  42. Mechy says:

This is real. I saw a news report on it a year or so ago. If I remember correctly the house was actually there first.

  43. ausador says:

Home builder fail, utility easement win!

Somebody took thier chances that the utility would not use thier easement on the property, turns out that was a bad bet.

  44. Poodang says:

    LAST

  45. jeremy says:

it’s actually where the grocery fail people live

  46. anonymous says:

anyone who says that this is photoshopped is a complete idiot. cause i bet that none of those “photoshopped!!”-commenters have ever used photoshop. i use photoshop every day cause it’s my fuckin job. so this fail is completely real and a correct fail (if something like a correct fail exists).

    FUCK YOU “PHOTOSHOPPED”-BITCHES!!

  47. The house is definatly in Australia, not West Virginia like some people here think. Because the front-garden of robin’s egg blue house nextdoor has a black-boy plant growing in it, and they only grow in Australia. Plus, there’s a gum tree in the background and there’s also a white, rusty Holden ute in their driveway, which is the average Aussie’s car.
    I should know, coz I’m a Proud Aussie :-)

    • Dragonwriter says:

      Cultural reference fail…

(In the US, citing West Virginia is usually a reference to a place filled with inbred, uneducated, and generally very scary people…sort of like a blonde joke, only instead of blondes being idiots, it’s West Virginians. Big apologies to any non-inbred, non-uneducated, non-idiot, and non-scary West Virginians amongst us.)

      • Muhammad The Camel Guy says:

“non-uneducated?” The next time I fill out a form for something, and they ask about education, I’m going to put down “non-uneducated.”

I was a “non-straight F” student. I graduated at the “not bottom” of my class.
I was in the “non bottom” 90%. I graduated “not non cum laude”

…O.K. I’m done. Not really, but that’s all I can think of right now.

    • spike says:

i referenced west virginia earlier in response to a long boring discussion of cousins and other relatives and how the all relate. i was going for the inbreeding thing.

  48. schmwarf says:

Mystique, you are correct. Its real and not photoshopped

I know roughly where that house is. Initially there was a driveway to the left of the pole which did not pose a hinderence.

So the story goes, the home owner added/extended the garage thinking the utility would automatically relocate the pole for him free of charge!

When he told the utility (after the garage was already built) they said they would do it but he would have to pay for the pole relocation. He was shocked refused and the photo is the net result.

    Home extension fail.

  49. Deadclown says:

    FIRST!

Just try to realize that there is no spoon.

  50. malcolm says:

whats the problem. its clearly a double garage, so the cars will easily fit either side.

  51. Pescador_Gama says:

    =O pole position!

  52. cacapeepee says:

    FIRST!!!!!!!!

  53. Fridge says:

This is pretty old actually I can’t remember where i saw it but it was quite some time ago now.

  54. billybob says:

In Soviet Russia they build house in front of pole.

  55. bob says:

    next commenter is gay

  56. will says:

if i am correct that is NOT a flagpole, its a lamp post, and if you noticed there is enough space for two cars to go either side of said lamp post NOT FAIL

  57. Phizzle says:

Picture is real, verified by the coordinates that several people here have listed. Someone photoshop me a picture like it, if you think it’s so easy. On top of that, I checked out the shadow on the google earth image and it is stertching Northwest, same as the shadow coming from everything else in the area. And the shadow starts (not stops) in the middle of the driveway. Even if it were the mailbox shadow defiantly going the opposite direction of every other shadow, it wouldn’t be long enough to stretch that far. Plus the mailbox is behind the sidewalk, the shadow goes in front of it. It took me all of 2 minutes to conclude that this picture is real, so for those of you who scream about too much time on my hands, stop masturbating, you hypocrites.

  58. Jackie says:

    Win.

  59. Dragonwriter,
well so-ree! I’ve never been to America before, so I don’t know about all the individual state cultures and stereotypes. I don’t really know what your comment really meant, but I’m throwing off anyway.

P.S. Which state are YOU from, exactly?

  60. Jeepersca says:

I swear that this picture isn’t photoshopped.

    Oh wait. hmmmm…..

    http://picasaweb.google.com/Punkinhead2/PhizzleFail/photo#5227489049932437746

    • Phizzle says:

Your photoshop is a terrible photoshop, and on top of that you missed the even bigger point. You can go on Google Earth and see the shadow of the pole coming from the middle of the driveway. The coordinates have been provided, the address, and witnesses have seen this exact house. But hey, good job creating a bad picture to discredit my least important point, which actually wasn’t about whether it could be done, but how easy it would be to do it. Way to read my entire post. You could have at least picked on me for misspelling.

  61. Anikan says:

I think the post is a blessing to the house owner. They will be save from accident..

  62. Tristan says:

    only the yanks

  63. Jess says:

    I’ve seen that !

  64. blah says:

    so photoshoped
