Not that big of a fail. It’s a graveyard… so what?

  7. Muhammad The Camel Guy says:

Gives new meaning to “go outside and play with your Grandparents.”

    • Muhammad The Camel Guy says:

…That’s just wrong. Lord, I apologize for making fun of the baby’s dead grandparents…even though it was funny…and be with them starving pigmies down in New Guinea. Amen.

      • lee says:

i used to have a graveyard in the far back of my house a long ass time ago. i thought it was pretty kick ass. my sis was all up in that grave yard kicking down the stone names and playing Ouija board with her goth friends

      • 999 says:

lol to the larry reference, muhammed

  8. Me says:

  10. Dropt says:

    Graves win

  11. Trav says:

My pre-school was just like that, but with more flags.

  12. RogueThree says:

    When I was a kid, I know I wouldn’t play there.
    There’s no slides or swings.

  13. Mike says:

    Juxtaposition Win~!

  14. anonyman says:

    first, next is gay!

  15. ForTheLOL says:

Hmmm. A couple things I find disturbing.

    1) The headstones are so close together. Notice how the second row seems to be only 2-3 feet from the first row. Are these baby graves???
    2) Notice how the fence is right up against the headstones. Since there’s no writing on the viewing side of the headstone that means the lettering is probably on the OTHER side, facing the playground. Which in turn probably means that the play ground side actually contains the coffins belonging to the headstones up against the fence!

    Yikes!

    • traumatized says:

youre just right. looks like a cheap horror movie

    • moisty says:

I noticed the exact same thing about the writing on the gravestones, the coffins must be under the duck! And whats with the mounds in the background? Looks like the playground of no return to me!

    • Buster Heiney says:

Although an odd site; I grew up on the east coast and small scattered old grave sites ( and uncared for ) exist all over the place especially in New York State. I grew up near an old cemetary called St. Agnes. Some are very very old and some depending on the territory; you’ll find some from the Revolutionary war to the French/Indian War. Unlike other states; the east coast has a premium on space and jamming up the dead in small graves and mosoliums is very European and Asian. It’s highly unlikely that the children are dancing on those people’s graves, LOL! In a way; it’s very symbolic of the circle of life and a good way to inform children of the true nature of life which is “you’re born, you live, you make children, you grow old, and eventually you die”.

    • SUOMYNONA says:

      Jinkies! That’s creepy.

      Cemetary/Preschool planning fail?

    • anonyman says:

      congratulations, you are gay!

  16. Nowhereman says:

“Smile kid, tomorrow will be worse”

  17. Robo says:

NO wonder why kids aren’t there to play.

  18. Danimal says:

I guess it’s not much of a preschool if they need their own graveyard.

  19. Danimal says:

I don’t think I would send my kid to a preschool with it’s own graveyard “Just in case” something happens.

  20. norman says:

Carol Ann won’t need a tv now, cuz theeeey’re heeeaaar.

  21. The Joker says:

In my town, theres a funeral home/ daycare

  22. Mike says:

This is where the Grim Reaper spent his lazy days as a youth.

On a side note, since the stones are so close together, maybe it’s a monument dealer and not the cemetery itself?

    • plasticbuses says:

I thought about that…but the stones look pretty worn/cracked to be waiting to be sold.
gah! to be honest…this picture really creeps me out…more so than other posted fails (particularly the fact that the kids may be playing ontop of the coffins)

    • epicfail says:

      either way, its a FAIL.

  23. bamsen says:

    Photoshop!

  24. OuijiBoardofDeath says:

Hey, this sort of reminds me of the cemetary in my town! It’s right by the playground of the elementary school where my mom went as a kid. Her mother had been killed in a car crash when she was just a toddler, so she’d hang out by the fence between the graveyard and the playground and she’d point across and tell the other kids, “That’s where my mom lives!”

  25. troubledpsyche says:

Is this the one in SD? Because if it is, the headstones are from a very old graveyard that has been turned into a park. They moved all the prominent or historically important headstones next to each other, and put up a plaque for everyone else. I don’t think they moved the actual graves, but it looks mostly like a normal park now, except for the weirdness next to the school.

  26. Reaper says:

Those plots sure are small; kid-sized I’d say.

  27. dfsdfsdfdsf says:

  30. Dark says:

    First!

    Definite photoshop!

  31. Dark says:

    First!!!!!!!!!!

    Definite Photoshop!

  32. Loki says:

hey, don’t laugh. IN the 1950’s Philadlphia started a renewal program and it is remored that the city pulled up the tombstones, paved the area and now we have Palumbo Playground. The tombstones were later discovered in the river. My grandfather is probably still buried under the b-ball court.

  33. Weener says:

*jumps up from behind gravestone, and yells “BOO”!*

  34. boo says:

This does not surprise me in the least. The headstones do not have any writing because they are really old. You can see that one of them has fallen off it’s stand not unusual to old cemeteries. It is obviously next to a daycare, if you want to start a business you start it wherever you can right? There are a couple explanations to why i think they are so close together. 1 the large stones are family stones and the smaller ones are the specific person marker. 2 over crowding the stones are not directly in line with each other but window boxed. or 3 The stones were moved there for whatever reason from another cemetery poltergeist.

Maybe not thinking it’s disturbing for me comes from living in a place where things like this is pretty normal.

  35. fastrman says:

What is most disturbing is you cant actually see all the kids playing in the playground because they are GHOSTS.. I see DEAD pupils !!

  36. greasycat says:

OMG, the spoiled little bastards will have to face realty and realize they aren’t the total and complete center of the universe, and all is not happy and jolly. Life is a cruel bitch and you attention grabbing little monsters can get used to it now. Be glad for a quiet place to play out of the traffic.

  37. BENNY says:

    First!

  38. abc says:

There? Oh, well. Each time you see one of those stones, it means there is a person under it. The people are shut into boxes and buried into the ground where no one can see them. Then, the people lay there for a very long time – years and years – with nothing to do. Slowly, worms creep in, and start eating the flesh off of the arms and legs and necks and faces. And those people laying there? They can’t do anything about it. They can’t even move a finger. And if they were to scream, no one would hear them. And some day, that is going to happen to you, and your mommy and your daddy and all of your friends. You will be buried in one of those boxes. The worms will come for you, in the dark. Oh, look, monkey bars! Do you want to play lava monster?

  39. kittenslayer says:

    i like tacos

  40. Sorsha says:

    Traumatizing Fail!

  41. Sammie says:

This is not nearly as uncommon as you might think–lots of churches and the like have daycares/playgrounds in the back like this. And if the lot isn’t all that big, especially as it is with old country ones, the fence (if there even is one) goes right up to the cemetery.

Fun, no? “Don’t step on the graves, children, or you’ll make the ghosts angry…”

  42. Danometer says:

“The last rotten little bastards we had here are all out there.”

    Child Behavior Potential Win.

  43. annony-mouse says:

    hey, i have a graveyard right next-door and i really don’t see how it could be “traumatizing”…. it’s just a cemetery…

  44. personn5 says:

could have just been a church with a small playground, i’ve seen those.

  45. Hein says:

Sheesh: Cemetary WIN! Life goes on. What would you like to think about when someone you love dies: death all around you or life springing all over? And perhpas some of that life has been touched by the one you loved?

  46. Covarr says:

It’s Photoshop’d, I can tell by the pixels.

  47. gothprof224 says:

I am the person who took the picture…in response to an earlier comment — yes, those ARE children’s graves right next to the fence — three of them, in fact. Three daughters in the same family all died under the age of ten…the graves are over 150 years old. One of the creepiest (and certainly most interesting) things I saw at that cemetery was a brand new teddy bear placed on one of the children’s graves.

    • pew pew says:

150 year old graves? That’s crazy! Where was this picture taken? I assume the east coast? I want to visit there. I’ll bring flowers out of respect too.

  48. Matthew says:

LOL FAIL LIKE ANYTHING ON THIS SITE HAHAH, this is funny as haha

  49. pew pew says:

The playground by my old house was next to a cemetary. They tore down the wall to make more room for the cemetary (making the park a little smaller) and because its no longer a permanent wall, we used to cut in through the bushes and play in the cemetary.

  50. foobar says:

    fail –> USA <– fail

  51. bamsen says:

has anyone a adress for me, so i can check it in google maps?

    because it is photoshopped

  52. bamsen says:

Proof this pic with Google Earth.

    • gothprof224 says:

I don’t have the actual address, but this church is on Center St in Clinton, NJ in Hunterdon County, about a half mile from the Old Mill where Ghosthunters recently filmed an episode. These graves are on the west side of the church, between the building and the parking lot, not part of the larger cemetery on the east side. As for them being too close together, they are mostly the graves of small children who died during an influenza outbreak during the Civil War. the 3 small stones in the foreground are all little girls from one family, aged 2 to 6. This is why the grave are so close together. I hope this is enough info to find the map, but you are also welcome to visit the church itself. It is still used, and they don’t mind visitors to the graveyard, as there are a few historical graves (Civil War officers) they are quite proud of. This is how we spend our vacations – finding old cemeteries and visiting haunted houses.

      • Green Is Good says:

Thanks for the info Gothprof. I’d like to check it out. Preferably without the Ghosthunter crew there. Ha ha!

  53. Pescador_Gama says:

The dead should have fun too =(

  54. craig says:

    isn’t this from Terminator(the movie)?

  55. Jake says:

    FAKE.

There are certain regulations when it comes to burying humans… you can’t bury them 2 feet apart… Look at how close those graves are.

    • spike says:

did you read any of the posts above? these are old graves. we have them on the east coast. do you think they go around digging up old cemeteries to make them conform to current code?

  56. dolt says:

    point1) not very funny

point2) both the playground and the cemetary look derilict meaning they probally havn’t been used in ages

  57. Becky says:

    “No, Jimmy–those aren’t rides!”

  58. Steve says:

“Hey guys, Let’s play dead today.”
    “No, let’s play funeral!”
    “I wanna play zombies!”

  59. amai says:

GHOST HUNTERS FTW….hey maybe its a pet semetary….

  60. chez says:

what’s with all the people offended at this? don’t fear the reaper man.

  61. Elvee Kaye says:

I once lived in a small town in rural Ohio where the elementary school was built right next to the cemetery. I always thought it would be a great location for a horror film. XD

  62. DONT POKE THE BUNNY!!! says:

i went to boise, and stayed at my moms cousins house whenever we left the house we wouls see the town cemitery, there was five heart gravestones from bigest to smallest… heart gravestones…what a oxymoron

  63. Avis says:

My grandfather was a pastor and always lived near a cemetary. My favorite place to play as a child was one of those cemetaries (he moved from church to church over the years, something like 5 times over my lifetime). I think it was because it was almost overgrown with wildflowers. This was in Texas and fighting the phlox was a lost cause.

  64. Lolo says:

My public elementary school was right next to the town cemetery. A fence just like this one separated the playground from the gravestones. It is in a relatively young town in Minnesota, though, so the stones aren’t nearly as old as these. When a boy in my class (who had multiple health problems) died in third grade from heart failure during gym class, he was buried in that cemetery. Some of us would go past his gravestone on our way home from school occasionally. Having the cemetery there always made me feel more connected to everything. I still love walking through cemeteries and trying to imagine what life was like for the people buried there.

Also, if you think these stones are close together, come visit New England, where they are all like this!

  65. howlingwolf214 says:

Lol, its to scare the kids, if you dont do ur homework ur locked in the graveyard after school.

  66. Hannah says:

A block away from my house is a large clinic building across the street from a cemetary.
And also in my town is a retirement home right next to a funeral home.

  67. Sphero says:

That is not a fail, when the zombies invade, who better to distract them so you can run away?

  68. something slight says:

kids probably scared to go outside.poor things. :(

  69. Corenator says:

This is one of the most offensive “fails” I have ever seen!!!

  70. Rebecca says:

In some Hispanic communities, it’s okay to have a playground with a graveyard. In their culture, the dead are to be respected, rather than feared. Some families in Latin America will take their children to the cemetary during holidays such as Day of the Dead, and the children will play while the adults pay their respects.

    This Fail was a Fail.

  71. Daundelyon says:

Not only was my elementary school playground next to the cemetery, one of the headstones that faced the school was the for the guy it was named after. Talk about placement.

  72. Mahnster says:

My preschool was built next to a cemetary. It was…. wierd at times.

  73. MentalFloss says:

    Playground FAIL.

    Instant playground safety lesson WIN.

  74. Nick says:

This was the church I went to preschool in!! I cant believe I stumbled across this.

  75. audrey says:

that’s not a big deal. the school where my mom teaches is right next to a cemetery, too. the kids play right next to it every day.

  76. Melly says:

    “Look Mommy! I see Daddy!”

  77. samm says:

so..that playground/cemetary is definitely not too far from my house..HUGE FAIL!!

  78. Little Girl 1-Yay lets go on the slide!!!

Little Girl 2-No my grandma is burrning under the slide!!!!!!

Little Girl 1-So…*goes on slide*…..HAHA I’m sliding on you grandma!! HAHA

Little Girl 2-*cries and kills herself*

  79. Von-Grimm says:

I would personally consider this a win.

    For me at least.

    :3

    Yay for morbidity.

  80. katie says:

OMG thats my church… who submitted this?!

yeah, the graves there are like, hundreds of years old it doesn’t even matter. I guess it is a pretty bad place for a playground now that i think about it. it’s the clinton presbyterian church in new jersey

  81. Tim says:

Graveyards are a senseless waste of space. The “dead”laugh at us when we dedicate real estate to preserving their memories this way. Best to let kids run around there and make it a Playground Win!

  82. Doug says:

hahaha! that’s my church! it’s in clinton, nj

  83. An epic failure says:

It isn’t that the playground is near the graveyard for no reason. The springy duck has claimed countless lives…

  84. Steve says:

    First!

  85. from cradle to the grave, huh?
