FAIL! it’s Penrith station (you can see some of the “Penrith” sign under the or part of (or win) in the pic, but you can indeed find the same signs on many stations on that line so you might well have seen one in Preston too. It always gave me a giggle as a young lad anyway, but it’s by no means a photoshop job. Not sure if they are still worded that way now or not but the pic could easily be fairly old.

This is a photoshop.

I’m not debating wether the phenomonon exists, (Though there is turbulence when a 125 m/h train passes) but these signs actually read along the lines of:

Keep back from the platform edge.

Passing high speed trains cause turbluence.

No you won’t, not least because this is a British Rail sign, not the Underground. People only imagine that’s what they’re seeing. Actually read them properly sometime.

This is a total Photoshop job, unless someone had fun at some station or another with sticky letters.
The real signs say “High-speed trains pass this platform” on the second line. Go look.

In short, FAIL FAIL.
