Speaking as somebody who, for one thing, begins sentences in correctly capitalized letters… both “spelt” and “spelled” are correct. “Spelt” is merely an older, more archaic spelling. It’s also used slightly differently in some cases, tensewise. So inasmuch as the sentence itself (herpies being spelt h.e.r.p.e.s -”herpes” dumbass) may be incorrect, “spelt” is perfectly fine.

In the Uk both STD and STI are acceptable although crabs can only be an STI.
STD = Subscriber Trunk Dialing i.e. long distance phone calls. This is/was common in Australia, New Zealand, India and other countries until the 1980s, where many telephone exchanges could only connect local calls directly.

This is a definite world knowledge FAIL for you ‘merkins. In a large part of the world (esp. previous British colonies including the UK itself, STD means “Standard Trunk Dialling” (aka long distance). Nothing fail about the sign itself – you’ll see plenty in India and neighbouring countries.
