We need that here in the US… instead, we fit the drunk’s car with it’s own breathalyzer, so they have to blow in it every 10 minutes or so, otherwise it kills the ignition. I almost got t-boned by a guy because he was at that very moment blowing into the tube instead of watching the road.

European stoplight. Means that the opposite lane is yellow/has just turned red, so, since 99% of the population there drives a stick, they can have the car ready to start moving again.

Someone commented that it’d be confusing to drunks– not if you grew up with it. Also, at least in Germany, you get your license taken away *forever* the first time you blow a .08 (.05 if you were in an accident). Kinda makes the expense of a taxi worthwhile.

No, that doesn’t make sense. Perhaps you’re referring to both a full red light and a green arrow. But two arrows simultaneously wrong are bad

What you’re referring to is a full red light accompaigned by a green arrow.
his is not the case, this is definitely a fail traffic light showing both arrows with both colours simultaneously wrong. I know because I took the picture

But how does that work, if you have, say for instance a lane that can either turn left, or go straight. You have the first driver in the lane who is turning, so he goes.
The person behind him is going straight, so he stays. But what if the person behind him is turning? He can’t go?

This is very common in lots of European countries. The green light lights up when the red one is still burning.
It tells you that the other lights on the crossing are orange and that it is in your own risk to start rolling. The red light will dim shortly after the green light started burning.
