    photoshop win!

    • sh*t says:

      prove it.

      • Elf says:

I think this is Selective BB-Gun Vandalism win.

        • the katt says:

Either way, it’s goram funny! ^_^

        • VXxed says:

It’s not vandalism. I live right near this place, I’m actually amazed. They finally fixed that. The power was like that for a good 6 or 7 months.

          • Boris says:

Wow, honesty fail. There are like 10,000 blockbusters that look like this. Its obviously photoshopped. Its like me saying I live next to the McDonalds Anus Burger sign so it must be real. Give me a break…

            • asdf says:

              pessimists always fail

            • titaniumspork19 says:

Why does it have to be Photoshopped? One of the previous posters brought up a good point; you could take out letters with a BB gun, or it could just be a really cheap Blockbuster’s that didn’t bother to get its sign fixed. Where’s the “obvious” Photoshopping? Because I don’t see it.

              • Nana says:

I am not going to read all the way down but if no one has pointed out that fact that All the letters have light beams coming from them even the shot out ones. there is no way it is real. not to say it isn’t funny but this one is not real

            • Revoprod says:

The anus burger sign is real! I was in Mobile, AL and we drove past the McDonald’s
              and there it was.

              • Mr. Special says:

If it’s so fake and you believe that the highlight around them all shows it then look at the light beams coming off of the letters. Looks fairly real to me.

      • Ne'er-do-well says:

definately photoshop – I live 3 houses down from it and recently it’s read “Bloc buster video”

        • Elf says:

you live three houses down from this exact blockbuster? prove it.

          • name says:

you think his story is not true? prove it.

omg i hate these “prove it” screamers …

          • Ne'er-do-well says:

It’s in Brookline Ma on Harvard Street. Took a photo but can’t post it here…and don’t really care. They changed the sign a few months back to say simply “Blockbuster” and half the time it says “Bloc buster” or whatever. I just don’t recall seeing “Blo us Video” as I would have noticed that one. Perhaps it’s real though….

            • Anonymous says:

oh, my roommate took a picture of it when it said “blo us video”. it did indeed happen.

            • matt says:

i have a photo of this too. it’s in brookline, a few months ago.

            • Dude who walks by it every day says:

At one point the sign DEFINITELY only had Blo us Video illuminated. I had to make the joke every time I went by. When I would ride by this on the bus every day (in 2005/2006) it occasionally said Blo us. Still funny anyway.

I used to work next to a Home Depot that selective BB gun enthusiasts ensured was the Ho Depot most of the time.

    • Anonymous says:

I live in the neighborhood and will check this out ASAP.

    • Randy says:

my last comment fail. cranberry vod FTW

    • ozzyrocks!!!!! says:

how the hell is that photoshopped

    • Herder of Hypocrites says:

Agreed. Most of these “electricity fails” are shooped. And badly too.

    • brian says:

I worked at the restaurant right next door to there. I guarantee that was not photoshopped. My friend is an electrician though and he told me that often those signs have individual switches that can be accessed to turn off each light, so some enterprising blockbuster employee could have found this out and thus made every observant person in brookline chuckle a bit.

  2. XShorTy says:

    XD!!
    2nd

  3. z0cker03 says:

    lol owned :D

  4. Daan says:

    Hahaha 10/10

  5. Mike says:

Don’t get this one… OK, power failed, but this is hardly funny, isn’t it?

  6. anon says:

HAHA right next to the fail image there was an ad for blockbuster. Now that’s amusing.

  7. me too says:

    8th

  8. sh*t says:

Oh come on! Why is it that everytime a picture on failblog comes out, somebody has to say, “PHOTOSHOP!” without any merit to explain it.

  9. silky says:

who cares if is photoshop or not, its damn funny, keep it coming guys

  10. Vismund says:

    Nah, not very funny.

  11. Jimmy Twitter says:

Outstanding! My kind of video store! http://www.FireMe.to/udi

  12. Jordan says:

I remember visiting a public school near where I live, and the “b” had fallen off of the wall so it read “Pu Lic School”

  13. Starlogic says:

    Homers Head Fail!

  14. Mr.Photoshop says:

    OBVIOUSLY PHOTOSHOPPED!!

  15. dolt says:

there used to be a swag shop near us only someone picked off most of the w so it said slag shop

  16. Vita says:

Is it me or has the quality of the fails being posted on this page dropped off severely in like…. 48 hours?

  17. RogueThree says:

Their “back room” must be huge…

  18. Trisreed says:

Reminds me of a similar “Anus and Roberston” store in Australia.

  19. jojojo says:

Truth in advertising win? I never go into Blockbuster. If it “blo”s as much as their Blockbuster Music venture did, it’s no wonder. Blockbuster Music was a bad idea doomed from the start. I can’t believe it lasted in my area as long as it did.

  20. Anonymous says:

For the record, this is not photoshopped. It’s 478 Harvard St. Brookline, Mass. It’s been like that since December, too.

    • Qwertz says:

I am disinclined to agree. Can you explain the lack of radial blur (doubtless caused by streaky schmutz on the window of the Sovereign Bank through which the photo appears to have been taken) on the illuminated letters? Every other light source in the photo exhibits a single order radial blur, but there is no hint of blur on the illuminated letters. If this is indeed the Blockbuster Video at 478 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA, and its sign has indeed been thusly dysfunctional since December, perhaps you could take a more convincing photograph yourself to share with us.

      • Jenny says:

I can see what you are saying about the blur resulting from the other lights, but that would mean that the entire sign would have had to have been turned off in order for them to photoshop this, since, like you point out, there is no blur coming from any of the illuminated letters. I think it would be very rare for the entire sign to be left off (even if they are closed, it still stays on), or for all the letters to burn out at once. Although, it does seem weird that they would leave it like that for six or seven months. The lights on the sign are not as bright as the ones in the store and could be a different type of light source (such as neon, though probably not neon).

Even if it is photoshopped, I still think it’s funny. And if photoshopped, the photoshopper was pretty clever.

      • aaaaanon says:

the blur is on everywhere. get some glasses.

  21. silky says:

again, who cares? its funny !

  22. Lethal Larry says:

It isn’t a power fail, the ballasts for those sections of the signs has failed – that’s what would cause those blocks of letters to not light up.

  23. FaStRmAN says:

Who cares about Photoshop?? I hope every hop headed punk with time on their hands goes out and vandalizes every BlockBuster on the planet. I hate people who sell stuff that you can download for free :-)

  24. Mouse says:

Heh, reminds me of a time in AZ when I was driving by a casino called the Flamingo. Their name was spelled in pink neon cursive, and only the “o” was out.

  25. m.c. square says:

or the SHELL sign I saw in Vancouver once with the “S” burnt out.

  26. Boomshank says:

Or that Supermarket with the ‘u’ and ‘arket’ burnt out.

  27. Letthebloodspill2002 says:

As a sign installer, it is impossible for that sign to light up that way. The photo was photoshopped. Blockbuster uses neon, neon runs in series.

  28. fatman says:

lol it couldve been an older blockbuster who runs in parallel. Have the light burn out… Or maybe they did it on purpose to make it funny and to attract some customers. Marketing win!

  29. noyb says:

    DUPLICATE fail.

Can’t be bothered to find exactly where but this has appeared on the site before.

  30. brian says:

Not photoshop – I rode by this numerous times on the 66 Bus into Dudley Square.

  31. brian says:

Hey Letthebloodspill2002 – Not photoshop. I ride by there on the bus a lot and saw it with my own two eyes.

  32. Kevin says:

WTF I SUBMITTED THIS A MONTH AGO!!!!!!!

  33. *Lilo* says:

oh man — I walk by this place on Harvard Street all the time since I live down the street. It’s definitely real, but it’s been fixed since then. I always wondered if someone just threw rocks at the letters to make the bulbs go out on the specific letters.

  34. Pom Rania says:

Heh; on my way to university, there was a Sleep Country; only the light on the ‘o’ wasn’t working.

If you don’t get what that means, you fail at understanding obscene slang.

(You could only see it at night, but quite often I came home late because I was with a friend. Unfortunately, they fixed the sign before I got to take a picture of it.)

  35. nope says:

For the person that was talking about the “radial blur”….that blur is coming from the inside of the Blockbuster…

the lights on the sign are nowhere near bright enough to produce that much radial blur anyways………..

Im not saying its NOT photshopped or that it IS…. but Im saying that your prediction isnt accurate

  36. Randy says:

    power fail…FTW!

  37. Mac says:

Yes, this is real. It’s in Brookline, MA. I’ve seen actual pictures from friends. And I’ve seen other lights out on this sign numerous times.

  38. Subrhyme says:

I knew you’d have to pay for those “no late fees” somehow…

  39. delaware says:

shoto phopped. fo sho. u cant see the afterglow of the other letters on the lights, but the real proof is that whoever posted this is inbred.

  40. delaware says:

FILTER YOUR CONTENT jesus christ. you can SEE THE GODAMN TRAILS COMING OFF THE BLACKED OUT LETTERS! they were dimmed with photoshop, and the noob idiot forgot to get rid of the light glares.

  41. Chris Miller says:

Ha! Saw this myself–Brookline, Mass., Harvard Ave. at Thorndike St., coming out of Allston south… Winter 07-08. Swear to god. My old housemate took a pic of this with her cameraphone, too.

  42. Kindhamster says:

    YOU FOOLS!!!
    It’s not “Blo”
    It’s “BLOW”
only LOLcats are allowed to say “Blo”
    JEEZ

  43. test says:

  44. Chuck U Farley says:

Cocaine jokes, fine. There were fine for people to make about Bush, they are fine now. Give up on the “Hussein” though. You just look like an ass.
