more of a win since if the captain of that ferry actually ran into the dock the damage would have been orders of magnatude better, and people would have likely gotten hurt from the impact. As it was, no one was hurt and a bunch of rich boaters got new boats.

Dude, it isn’t photoshopped. You can see tapes of this on YouTube and shit, I saw the dock itself and the pilot dude made the right choice in running into the docks rather than the wall. Save lives (No one died in that incident as far as i recall)

Not photoshopped – happend a few years back in Horseshoe bay in West Vancouver. Was a big story. The boat had problems, and rather than ram the ferry dock, went into the marina blowing its horn. Nobody was hurt. Had the boat rammed the ferry dock, many could have been killed.

That happened just a few km from me – the ferry had an engine failure ( and thus, couldn’t steer or stop) and plowed into a bunch of sailboats and yachts and other rich people’s toys. THAT’S what made it a big deal.
Suffice it to say, they ain’t usin’ that ferry no more.

The linked articles say that the ferry could still steer, but not change speed after a cotter pin fell out.. The captain aimed at the rich people’s toys, because there were only a few dozen people there. There were lots of people at the ferry dock and on the rest of the shore, but the rich people keep the commoners away from their toys.
Nobody got hurt. The few rich people who were there, must have figured out that huge off course ferries blowing their horns are dangerous things.

I was actually /on/ that ferry when it missed the dock coming into Horseshoe Bay. It was quite the startling experience then and we tried really hard not to laugh.
