This is a classic example of failure of Govt planning.

While it may make sense to most free market countries, where its natural to consider having a better house a priority over having Television and Cable TV, but in Govt planned economies this is a common scenario.

The point is Govt has shoved its hand down deep into the throat of housing market. These people are not owning those lands, but either are sitters on it(that’s why they cannot afford to make permanent homes on it), or are given Slum ownership certificates(which will become void if they gentrify their house).

In simple words it makes much more sense for them to do non-permanent investments on their property(like buying a dish antenna or television, even telephone and internet), but not into something permanent like a better house because they will end up losing it.

As an employee for a cable company, I can tell you that when it comes to priorities, television is a lot higher that it should be.

True Fact: 75% of people will call the cable company to complain about their service being out….during a power outage.

I live in Romania… and yes, there are poor families like this one in my country that live in such houses… It’s either all they can afford or it’s given to them by the town hall if they’re homeless, but it sure as hell beats living in a cardboard box, in garbage infested slums or alleyways…

As for the antena… Digi TV is offering free services for a year…

The picture is taken in Romania. I live there. That DIGI antenna is for TV obviously, the company has a special offer, actually it is very very cheap to have that DIGI service. That guy is poor, however he affords the antenna.
Yes it is stange, but can you believe that for one month of DIGI TV he pays only the value of a small glass piece from his poor window? This is what YOu might call “cheap TV service”

partially wrong. it is slovakia. this picture was even in our newspaper.. it IS gypsy. and it is in SLOVAKIA. there was a special offer from digi tv when came to our market – for one slovak crown (30.126skk=1eur) you got the sattelite + 3 months free usage.. the deal you had to sign lasts 2 years i think..
major income of this families is from children allowance and it is part of their “politics” – make 10 children,feed them shit and keep money for alcohol/cigarettes. their other income is from stolen goods…more than 90% of gypsies in eastern europe never worked,was willing to work or will ever work…

So all we can say about the picture is that it’s from an Eastern European country (although, given the number of subscribers, it IS most likely from Romania).

The occupant of the house is most likely Gipsy. It’s typical of their priorities: they used to be nomads living in tents until a few centuries ago, so “the place to live” is always a temporary thing to them, they don’t give a shit about the houses they live in – but they do value their entertaintment.

Also, since i’m already going to be called a racist for stating the above, they smell bad, don’t work, live on benefits, steal a lot and should go back to India. Thanks for listening.
