The “dispatcher may return to the line” means the dispatcher who answers the phone and routes you (to either the suicide hotline or other service if you have a car breakdown or something) may come back on the line while you’re talking to the suicide hotline. The would want to do that because they likely are going to be sending cops and an ambulance to get you while you’re talking to the hotline people.

Actually, they put fence up along the bridge over the fort to keep tourists from chucking garbage over the side onto people’s heads.

The Marin side still doesn’t have that fence, and is probably rockier…

Actually the first 1/4 mile is over rocks.
Rocks=certain death ocean=possible rescue.
When I lived in SF 10 yrs ago the 10,000th person had jumped.

I assume anyone jumping off this bridge already knows it’s fatal, or they’d jump off of something else. Saying fatal and tragic means it’s bad for you (fatal) and bad for someone else (tragic).

I think it’s a way of saying that someone cares, even if it’s a lie meant to trick them into not jumping, preventing someone from filling out boring paperwork.
