» 151 Failures in Communication

  1. Anonymous says:

    Fail.

  2. lowly grunt says:

Well that kinda depends on the conditions of the lodging, doesn’t it? It might be a nice place to stay but I’d rather not find out.

  3. Anonymous says:

    first :P

  4. me-how says:

Maybe they just don’t speak english?

    • ariel wollinger says:

exactly! There are a lot of english names like chicago and boston for example that sound like and are written like bad words. chicago in portuguese could be interpreted as : oops, shat ! and boston sound like big shit in portuguese.
So IT is a failed fail, because it is from a foreign culture.

  5. laubo says:

    what does the sign mean?

    • Dark says:

It appears to be spanish. From my very limited knowledge of etymology, something about an industry maybe to do with earth?(terra)… and a hotel service? That makes very little sense. Hell, I’ll use babelfish.
      Babelfish:
Spanish to English: Service of the Industrial Hotel trade of Terrassa (Terrassa is an area in Spain.
So, I was almost horribly wrong.

      • MP says:

“Industrial Hostel Service of Terrassa” would be the correct translation.

      • SaNdCrAwLeR says:

        Fail at spanish! :P
anyway its the Service for Industrial Lodging of Terrassa (Lodging is a synonim to Hosteling and the most appropriate here)
        ;)

      • Anonymous says:

Although the sign is in spanish, Terrassa isn’t an area, it’s a town, and it isn’t in Spain, is in the Catalan Countries, a non-recognized country occupied since more than three hundred years by Spain. ;)
The language spoken in the Catalan Countries is catalan, a romanic language as spanish, portuguese, french or occitan. The catalan countries are located between Spain and France, having land in both states and more than 12 millions people. The most important and well-known city is Barcelona.

        • jj1910 says:

          yawn

        • Juasman says:

You are a total fail. Fail at history, fail at politics, fail at common sense. Fail at being fickle.

          FAIL!

        • grond says:

If the language spoken is català, why is the sign in Spanish (castellano)? Or is the missing accent in “hostelería” an indication that it actually isn’t castellano?

          BTW, separatism sucks.

        • David España says:

Im spanish, and this isnt the truth. Catalonia is in Spain like Galicia or Castilla la mancha. A little part of catalonians want to be independents, but only a litlle part. I someone want to go out, should go to andorra. no ?

          • esparver says:

            Spaniards fail. Catalans are cooler.

          • Anonymous says:

Sorry but I wasn’t speaking with you,
Are you trying to make a fool of me?
Because you are only achieving making a fool of yourself…
Go and FAIL elsewhere, disrespectful spanish.

        • Anonymous says:

It sounds funny, but I am sure I do know more than you, at least in
its repressive manners, that seem pretty close to yours… :D

        • Anonymous says:

          Tú eres tonto, tío

        • barney says:

se ve que eres catalán jajaj pero creo que la mayor parte de la gente aquí no te va a entender y se va a perder cuando le hables de los problemas territoriales de españa

        • Anonymous says:

you must be catalonian to say something so away from truth, Terrassa IS part of Spain, the term catalan countries doesn’t even exist and hasn’t been occupied it since the french did, go read a true book of history before posting all these fakes
, you fail at so many levels…

        • Elare says:

Actually, what he said is dead on and completely accurate.

I’m from Spain and I used to live like 30 minutes away from Terrassa (which is, in fact, a town). I probably passed by that spot in the picture at some point or another, and I never noticed it LOL.

        • hum, … Catalan countries?! Independent FAIL!!!
Catalonia is in Spain… no matter what you want.
And “Servicio de Hostelería industrial de Terrassa” is
          written in spanish, not catalan.

        • Eco says:

Nationalism fail! Catalunya is Spain, at least for now. And most Catalan people feel Spanish.

      • Xavi says:

Terrassa is a city, near Barcelona…

      • Kieron says:

I live 30 km from this town. Terrassa is a town just outside of Barcelona. The translation of the name is “Terrassa Industrial Hostelry Services”, which is shit backwards., which I also find funny on several levels.

      • Cronoser says:

It means Industrial service hotel of Terrassa.

  6. Unicorn says:

    this isn’t really a failure.

  7. w00t says:

    thats near my home (portugal)
    in english says
    industrial hotelary service of terrasa

      • Anonymous says:

        • gnawyzus says:

Here she is, the Super Luxurious Omnidirectional Whatchamajigger, or S-L-O-W for short.
It’s better than the last thing we had: Super Hydraulic Instantaneous Transporter.
          Oh, you mean…
          NO! Quick! To the S.L.O.W.!

  10. PedroG says:

  20. Lou says:

    Shit happens!…

  21. Lou says:

“merda” is the catalonian word for shit, nor portuguese nor spanish

    • rphlfmf says:

      “Merda” is portuguese too.
It can also be: cocô, bosta, “numero 2″, caca, “restos mortais”, estrume (usually for animals), excremento etc.
You can find a lot of synonyms.
      =)

      • Anonymous says:

Isn’t “bosta” only used for (literally) bull (or cow) shit?

      • Elare says:

Actually, “caca” is the word you’d use if you were a child or a parent trying to lecture one. “Excremento” is Spanish for “excrement” so probably not what you would use to swear.

The proper swear word in Spanish would be “mierda”, which is literally “shit” and equally offensive!

There you go. Now you can swear in Spanish as well ;)

  22. gnawyzus says:

What a pile of Servicio de Hosteleria Industrial de Terrassa that movie was.

  23. Randy Marsh says:

The sign says S.H.I.T … Can’t we just accept the humor in all of it’s pedantic, childish, point and giggle beauty? Just think about wandering the streets of this town(wherver the Hell it ACTUALLY is) as a tourist. Pull out your map….. hmmm, now where is the diner I’m looking for… Wait I’ll go in the SHIT headquarters and ask them.. if anyone knows their shit……..

  27. assssdddddffff says:

    Catalanes tenían que ser xD

    • esparver says:

  28. Anonymous says:

Pues sí, catalanes y encima de Terrassa xD

  29. George says:

I guess we all fail as English speakers every time we say the word “after”, since that’s German for “anus”

  30. Anonymous says:

  31. NoiK says:

  32. Kyle says:

At least it wasn’t something like First Utility Company of Kansas.

  33. dwarfman says:

    ROFL

  34. Ll. Companys says:

Catalonia is not spain. Its an opressed nation. They can say alot of things but catalans dont feel like they are spanish. We have to fight for our selfdetermination. But they need us, coz we bring da money.

    PIECE AND FREEDOM

    • El Generalísimo says:

LOL! Ll.Companys, I only needed to read your nickname to know what the comment would be talking about (well, writing in fact). It must be a true pity for Catalans that Spain has won the Soccer Eurocup, as you can’t feel all the pride the rest of Spain has felt for its National Team when it beat Germany. Like it or not, there were some catalan players in the team who (I am sure) have enjoyed winning this title. The difference between you nationalists and we Spanish is that in a Scotland-Catalonia, we prefer Catalonia to win. But instead you prefer Germany to beat Spain, as all your hate focuses on all the evils to fall on Spain, country you are part of.

Oh, I almost forgot: those “catalan countries” you claim don’t exist. You shout for opression but at the same time you include other regions into “your country” against their wishes. Isn’t that a political strategy failure?

    • Anonymous says:

      Dear Ll. Companys,
      Please go f*ck yourself.

      Sincerely,
      Anonymous

  35. Ll. Companys says:

first of all i’m against the term “catalan countries” coz everyone have the right to choose his nationality.

el generalisimo, ur nick is also so explicit, lil fascist rat.

    • El Generalísimo says:

hahaha ‘lil fascist rat’ that was fun (really, It’s a small but sharp insult), it brings me to mind Monty Python’s and the knights of the round table, when the French at the castle walls insults them with stupid but funny insults ^^

I just wanted to give you some of your own medicine: So stupid are the fanatics in both sides, and I don’t support any of them. I am glad you are against that idea of “catalan countries”, at least I find a sensible nationalist in you, lil nationalist rat hehe.

  36. Alex says:

    Oh my dear god guys…
    Its portuguese! Not Spanish!
