  9. roji says:

Wow, someone’s been playing too much Shadow of the Colossus!

  10. kannadzuki says:

Fail would be crashing into a window or something. The little one is 100% win!

  11. justam says:

    picture fail.

  12. john says:

Far roo many non-fails these days. This is clearly a WIN! Who wouldn’t want to soar upon the wings of an eagle?

  13. Anneke says:

Ahahahahahaaa I love this one! xD

  14. Allie says:

that’s epic win for the lil guy!

  15. anon says:

It WOULD be a fail if the eagle was trying to shake the little guy off…

  16. b. says:

    epic WIN.

  17. CM says:

FYI. That would be a red tail hawk and a red winged black bird.

    RAPTOR FAIL!

    • Frith Ra says:

& you are the first one to win the “Name that Species” fail game. Whoever thought the big bird was an eagle has done a taxonomy fail.

Yes, that is a red tail & a red wing, both very common hereabouts. I’m constantly seeing the little blackbirds buzzing the hawks but I’ve never seen the likes of this.

Was the photographer in a tree or something?

      • Hamjudo says:

We have red tailed hawks and red winged blackbirds and barn swallows.

No surprise here, I’ve seen the red winged blackbirds mob the hawks.

Yesterday, I saw a barn swallow attacking a red winged blackbird.

The small blackbirds harass the hawks, The even smaller swallows harass the blackbirds. The little blackbird can make sharper turns than the hawk, The tiny swallow can make even sharper turns.

It seems to be an inverted circle of life thing, or something.

The barn swallow’s nest is above our main door. There are 3 baby swallows in it. They eat yellow jackets and wasps to keep us safe from stings. The adult barn swallow did successfully drive away the blackbird.

  18. albear says:

looks like the little guy has him self an epic flying mount

  19. Random Remarks says:

    Hunting Fail!!

    Laziness Win!!

There really should be a Win blog for pictures like this

  20. asynadak says:

Come on… this is not fail! It is just the air hostess!!! :)

  21. winni says:

    the smaller the cooler…smart ass

  22. Anonymous says:

The hawk’s probably escorting him back to the nest to feed her babies. I saw a red tail hawk pick a robin right out of the air once, hawks never fail

  23. Fatman says:

LOL that looks so noob :P Lazy ass bird… Reckon thats how hes still alive in teh world… He just rides on the back of bigger birds

  24. Kermis says:

Yeah, definitely a win. But this has to be photoshopped, right?

    • bobw says:

probably not, since smaller birds harrass hawks all the time. he’s probably not “riding” but just about to take a shot at the hawk’s head.

      • elfinugget says:

He’s pecking the hawk’s head….just matched speed well enough to grab on for a good hammering on the hawk’s noggin.

Little blackbirds harass hawks all the time, Hawk gets too close, blackbirds come flying out terrorizing it away from the young ones and the nests. I’ve seen two small grackels pick flight-feathers off a hawk before.

    • Dark says:

      Seriously, cut it out please.

  25. Homer says:

This is a total WIN for the small bird, a FAIL for the hawk.

  26. axman says:

yup lil birdee probly swooped down legs out to take a pot shot at da raptor and da pic got snapped the very instant it hit !!!

dont make it any less cool tho great pic like the win bliog idea

  27. geeksluvpi says:

I think it’s funny how people are always saying to revoke the fail. A fail is always balanced by a win. The winning parties and the failing parties are always opposites and dependent, the winners win because of the failers and the failers fail because of the winners. Little Bird: Win. Big Bird: Fail

  28. flingtehcow says:

I think ‘OWNED’ would have been a better caption.

  29. Mr. Todd says:

So now we’re posting any unusual photo and slapping ‘Fail’ on it? Pretty weak.

  30. Tango says:

“A fail is always balanced by a win.”

Unless you count wins by inanimate objects, I disagree. Someone falling down the stairs, say, is simply a fail. The only winners are the stairs and gravity, neither of which I consider to be eligible winners (although, gravity failing is always funny!).

  31. Klaus says:

    dumb whore.

  32. Jay says:

That little bird has a bright future in management.

  33. Pawk says:

omgz i cum from da lolcats site n see dis n fink dat dis piktur look better liek dis:

  35. Pawk says:

  36. Gbobman says:

    …”and I’ll form the head!”

    GO GO PHOENIX FLYING FORCE!

  37. Priscellie says:

Riding win is trufax. It reminds me of the Millenium Falcon hanging out on the side of the Star Destroyer to hide from its radar.

  38. Jaed'rik says:

Erm… it’s a fail, i belive that the smaller one is a blackbird, notorious for attacking eagles/hawks/falcons… poor BoP (bird of prey)

    • smt says:

The blackbirds only attack the larger birds when the birds of prey get too close to the blackbirds’ nests. Birds of prey eat blackbird chicks, but if they don’t eat other birds then they would have less food to feed their own chicks. Its a whole circle of life thing, Raptors (official term for most birds of prey) eat blackbird (and similar sized bird) chicks, blackbirds eat songbird chicks, larger songbirds eat seed/insect-eating birds’ chicks.

  39. jay says:

i wish i could do that.

  40. Jaed'rik says:

more accurately it is a redwing/fairy blackbird (need to see the underside to decide) on the back of a redtail hawk. blackbirds also attack crows/any slow gliding bird of prey.

  41. Anonymous says:

That is a red winged blackbird and a red shouldered hawk.

  42. LaStMaN says:

    Last

  43. Pawk says:

XD Odd, the first comment showed up immediately, and the rest of the time it went to “Page cannot be displayed”

  44. SUNNAY says:

I would actually say this is more of an Epic Win for the smaller bird dude. And an epic Win for teamwork :D

  45. Keelhaul says:

Round here….Bluejays attack the hell out of hawks, buzzards, squirrels, cats, and anything that moves. The blackbirds don’t do much. The red tail hawks will carry your cat off.

  46. MarkFL says:

To those who doubt the fail, it is a huge PREDATOR FAIL.

I don’t know much about blackbirds, but I know that hawks are known to sometimes prey on smaller birds. I’ve even heard of a few cases where they have taken parrots from their human companions. :-(

  47. Bunneh says:

How about this one – a rabbit kills a magpie!

Check this video shot by someone who happened to be there (and it’s not Monty Python, the magpie really dies so don’t watch if such things offend):

The site is in Finnish, but I’m sure you all know how to press play.

Apparently the rabbit took on all the three magpies on the video, and they kept fighting for over 15 minutes.

  48. doctorz says:

take a ride on eagle fail airline

  49. lolsuz says:

    “Home, James.”

  50. Pier says:

reminds me of a story my grandfather told me
they had a contest who could fly highest, the small bird won the same way this one does :)

  51. That’s a small bird win!

  52. Rollingthunder says:

    Food search FAIL.

  53. Wade says:

Elf flight form rides epic Tauren swift flight form win :p. That’s really funny a bird could pull that off.

  54. J says:

lol more like freeloader, lazy or irony EPIC WIN!

  55. AaronYost says:

Maybe Cody died some time after Bernard and Miss Bianca rescued him (McLeach somehow got vengeance?), he came back as a bird, and wanted to kick it with Marahute on her her own “turf.”

  56. tom says:

    i think this was photoshopped

  57. Janni says:

Hawks – Segways of the Bird-world!

  58. green says:

    Small bird = WIN!!!

  59. anonymous says:

Props to whoever managed to get that pic. Photographer win.

  60. RKFTW says:

    bird taxi WIN

  61. LD0ne says:

that ain’t a fail thats genius at its best

  62. Ed says:

‘A man can fly to any height he wishes so long as he stands abreast of the wings of an eagle’ – Horace.

  63. otya says:

thats a win for the red wing black bird

  64. anonymus says:

    Can i have a ride???

  65. anonymus says:

How much do i have to pay to get in eagle airlines???

  66. Der_Kritiker says:

    That’s definetly a BIG WIN!!!!!11oneoneeleven

  67. frogman says:

    WIN!

  68. tez says:

we have those birds around my house all the time! :)
basically the little one is probably trying to protect it’s eggs from the big one. they’re at it all the time.

  69. Feather says:

    That’s definitely a win. xD

  70. regsa says:

It is fake! Can’t anyone see that!
First if the bird was on the eagles back like that it would blow off.
Second look at the shadow on the eagles back it is not real, if you look at the bird you can see a shadow on its with is not pointing the same way as the shadow on the eagles back.
Third how should they get such a good picture? It is hard enough to get a picture of an eagle from that angle, what is the odds to take a picture like that?

I could make it on Gimp myself, but I have not the imagination to do it.
It is fake, but it is a good pickture, and I think it is ok to upload fake too, just it is a fail!

    Great pickture

  71. Bird says:

Fail, my tailfeathers. This is a win! Sometimes we birds need a break from flying, so we just hitch a ride on a bigger bird. I find it very ingenious, if perhaps a bit lazy.

  72. Fat Guy in a Box says:

    Hitchhiking win!

  73. dark-tower says:

dude thats a redwinged blackbird, those things are totally badass. i think the other is a redtail hawk. redwinged blackbirds will attack anything- they’re the most awesome bird ever

  74. KitteeKat says:

typical day at work for most folks, !!!!!

  75. mocha says:

    lol!!! blackbird is a gangsta!

  76. griefshare says:

  77. DPWeiss says:

  78. Ansem1a1 says:

Hawks, the public transit of the avian world X]

  80. asdf says:

this looks photoshopped…just look around the edges of the eagle

  81. Pete says:

Have you heard…………………Bird is the word.

  82. Andrew Ong says:

Even the smallest birds can fly! Why wouldn’t they?
    {Bird: I wanna be a plane! Whoosh!}

  83. barbara says:

Are you kidding? This is a win!

  84. Nathan says:

now that is a lazieness win and a preadatory FAIL
