  1. Fede says:

    first?

  2. Jalapeno Alpha Tartigal says:

    that looks painful!

    • Leg End says:

Yeah i did that… not into a puddle but i went over like that and smashed my elbow… elbow bones dont heal.

      • Zaggs says:

yeah, and knees take forever…I did that once into a curb, got a piece of Re-Bar lodged in my knee joint between the patella and the femur…hurt like hell. But yeah, the umbrella was rendered pretty much useless in this instance…..lol.

    • "reply" says:

This is not an umbrella fail. Insult to umbrellas. This – if truth be told – is not a fail, but a poignant reminder of how important umbrellas are in our lives. Troopers, I tell ya!!!

  3. Jalapeno Alpha Tartigal says:

Hey Fede, yes, you were first.

  4. Nekopawed says:

The Umbrella is still dry folks!

  5. Keelhaul says:

“Look Ma!!!!!!! A magic umbrella!!!! I’m flying!!!!I’m flying!!!!Whoooo….Umph!!!gargle, gurgle, nosebleed.”

  6. suzywang says:

oh wah wah wah, he probably hurt himself. take it down!

    • Manny says:

This difference between this one and the one everyone is upset about is he did it to himself.

      • JffCmpbll says:

So a gory picture of suicide is okay?

        • mv 71 says:

sure it is…if people like you are willing to give suggestions about stuff like that then sure its a great idea!!!

P.S: How would he take the pic?

        • Manny says:

No, suicide is not okay in my opinion, but if someone wanted to post their suicide it is their choice. The other people in the other picture had no choice in what happened or in the picture getting posted.

          • JffCmpbll says:

So now we need to go around and ask every single person that is in or affected by a picture before it is posted? Maybe I had a tragic experience on a bike and find this picture offensive. So, should we ban all pictures of people being harmed by bikes from this website just for me?

PS: FAIL Blog Fail when typing your reply it extends past where it should making it very hard to read back what you have typed.

            • Manny says:

Ya, ban them all just for you. Sure. Why are we even arguing about this? You can’t change my mind and I can’t change yours. One of us is wrong, and it is obviously me, so I admit it. Let’s put every picture we can of people dying and getting into accidents and getting hurt and being dumb and so on because the world thinks it is funny. We all laugh at other people’s expense. Well, not all of us because I do not in all instances. In some, yes, sure I do. The ones I put myself into the person in the picture’s shoes and say, “If that were me, I’d laugh at that photo a year from now.” If I wouldn’t laugh, say if I was in a tragic accident and someone died or was seriously hurt, then I do not laugh. It isn’t funny to me anymore because I would not want someone laughing at me if I were there. Maybe we should post pictures of 9-11 and say “Government Fail”. That would be funny, right? Everyone jumping out of windows say “Life Fail”. Funnier still. Not really. Don’t think human suffering is funny. I think human stupidity is funny, but hey, what do I know anyway?

              • irritated says:

i got bored and stopped reading after around ‘instances’

                just so you know.

              • Sam says:

Dude, no one cares about what you think. If you don’t find it funny, why not try an alternative site where, I dunno, they post up pictures of cats doing stupid things? Some people do find this stuff funny, and don’t want to hear about you whining.

              • ClickClick says:

Manny, your words are well thought out and well presented.

I’m beginning to feel the same way you do about this blog.
Fun at first, and now too many disappointments.

Concerning those rebuttals to your comments, I’d rather not think
they were written by 13 year olds who’d been sitting too close
to the microwave. That would be – FAIL.

                • Manny says:

I am sorry I forgot to thank you ClickClick. I appreciate your response. Wish I could get more constructive feedback, whether positive or negative, from others. :)

              • Manny says:

Honestly, I only wrote it back because the other guy wrote to mine. Thought we’d try to have an intelligent debate, but I see my problem with that. I don’t care what others think of my thoughts and whether you actually read what I have to say. It is my right to post, as it is yours to post that you think I am whining. Just don’t read what I have to say and you’ll have a happy day. :)

And by the way, I am not a dude. Have a wonderful day!

                • Dark says:

Intelligent debate? On failblog? Have you seen some of teh people here? Sorry dude, but if brainpower was sugar, there’s not enough intelligence in most people here to fill a teaspoon. And by the way, many people use “dude” as a asexual handle.

                  • Jenrai says:

                    No, they don’t.
At least people who aren’t Ty Pennington or whatever the hell his name is from Extreme Makeoever don’t.
A Dude is a male. Pure and simple. Most of the females I know (and I know a helluva lot considering I work in a college that specialises in Care and Health & Beauty) would kick you in the nuts for calling them “dude”.

                • Gray says:

You failed at doing on failblog : /

              • Anon. says:

We’re not laughing at people having tragic accidents and dying. We’re laughing at the stupidity of human nature. Now, how are we to know what befalls the people, after the picture is taken? This guy could have gotten up and walked away. He could have died. We don’t know. But we take advantage of the fact that he could have walked away, and find it funny. If it was me, I would laugh at this picture, because it’s pretty funny looking, even if it was me.
No one is going to laugh at 9-11, or people jumping out of windows (unless its maybe obviously photoshopped) because thats just not funny.
Shut up and find another blog.

                • Manny says:

No one will laugh at 9-11, but you will all laugh at a dozen or more bicyclists being thrown up in the air? That isn’t funny either.

                  • Manny says:

And by the way, I don’t have to shut up. Freedom of speech, baby. Freedom of speech.

                    • Anon. says:

Yes, I will laugh at the bicyclists, because it’s funny. I’m not laughing at them personally, but the situation they are in.
And I’m not, and never will be, your baby.

              • Dominic says:

It would be different if somebody dug the pothole in the street and then waited for somebody to fall in to take the picture. But this was just an accident. It would have happened whether somebody took a picture or not. Might as well enjoy it since it happened anyways.

And seriously… why do you look at this blog if you don’t want to see this stuff? What are you expecting to see here?

                • Manny says:

I wasn’t commenting on this picture not being funny! This picture is funny. I have no problems with this one. Someone made a reference to the other picture and THAT is the one I do not find humorous. Did you guys really think it was about this one? Did you not read everything from the beginning or did you pick a random spot to start reatding and not get the whole story? Wow! Some people take things so seriously.

              • Dark says:

Dude, sorry but you do not need to rant so much on a site like this, nobody’s going to read it. Plus, most peopel who do read it will just go “boring u fail”. I can understand where you’re coming from. There is a line, but this pic doesn’t cross it.

                • Manny says:

Funny. I still wasn’t referring to this picture. Guess you are one who doesn’t read it all?? And you are right, I am done. With this site. Too many people who take every opportunity to call you names and tell you to shut up. Guess it is not my right to speak my mind, but anyone else can. Doesn’t matter. Can’t change your mind and can’t change mine.

Just for clarification: I DO NOT THINK THIS PICTURE CROSSES THE LINE! This started as a debate about others still referring to the controversial picture. That is what I have been referring to all along. That other picture. If you can’t follow along and figure it out, well, not my problem.

          • Homer says:

This blog is about funny. If someone tries to kill himself in a funny way, fails, and the whole thing is filmed or photographed, it is fair game. For example, let’s say a midget clown tried to kill himself by jumping into a lion pen at the zoo, and the lion did not kill and eat him bit rather bit his ass and carried him around, clown makeup, big shoes and all. You mean to tell me there is a single person who would not find that funny, even though it is actually pretty sad? I think everyone would laugh.

          • Zaggs says:

            WHICH FRIGGEN PICTURE?

  7. Anonymous says:

Right, who thinks this is funny, fails!

  8. Paul says:

Looks like a second later there could have been another fail when the suitcase hits him in the head!

  9. Gregor says:

People ride like this all over Europe – and I’ve often wondered exactly what happens when gravity prevails… now I know!

    OOOOOF!

  10. Ian says:

Don’t worry, his face broke the impact

  11. InsertNameHere says:

    Finding Nemo FAIL

  12. Cats-N-Dogs says:

Why do people say “first” on blogs, you didnt even have anything so say about the pic. Dont understand.

    • Sam says:

      First reply! (To your comment)

    • flingtehcow says:

It’s just a thing. Commenting tradition. What’s REALLY sad though, is on ICHC where you get people going ‘Wow! Well done for being first! I’m so happy for you!’. Human fail.

      • Ribbo says:

I’m glad i’m not the only one who finds this utterly moronic. 40 replies all saying absolutely nothing clogging up the top of every comment page is staggeringly pointless.

        • Sam says:

You mean you can translate what they say, to know that they say nothing? That’s one better than me at least.

          • Saying nothing says:

I like cheese. Cheddar cheese is my favorite, followed by mozzarella, because that is normally on pizza. mmmm, pizza. I do not like limberger cheese, and frankly have no idea how to spell that because I hate it so much. I have to go poop now.

    • CountSpatula says:

That whole ‘first post’ thing comes, I believe, from Slashdot, a technology website. Somehow, people believe that they are the most important commenter on any bloody subject simply by being the one that refreshes his/her page the most.

I may be wrong and it may have originated even earlier, but that’s where I first observed this horrible trait, and perhaps others have as well.

  13. Homer says:

This looks so much like the current fail blog logo that I declare this is actually a WIN. He wanted to be on Fail Blog!

  14. sim says:

See kids, opening umbrellas inside or out is bad luck!

  15. aaaron says:

Hey how come no one is getting their panties all twisted over this picture? How do you know he didn’t die or wasn’t seriously injured like in that post the other day?

To all of you who were bitching the other day about the last biking photo, I say “blow it up your collective asses.”

  16. That’s not really an umbrella fail. It’s still covering his head.

  17. Craig says:

This isn’t an umbrella fail — the umbrella didn’t fail, it’s still working.

This IS what happens when you don’t follow the advice you’ve been given all your life to stay out of pools of water when it’s flooding.

  18. damnedgamer says:

this is a umbrella bike combo FAIL!

  19. Homer says:

and yet aaaron continues to visit this site.

    • Sam says:

I think he finds this picture (and the other one) funny. I just think he’s annoyed by all the arsetards who have no sense of humour and who keep bitching and whining about the fact that someone died in that picture. “Uhhhhh, someone got hurt, someone died, my life is so meaningless, yours is sick and wrong, uhhhhhhh,” etc.

  20. lizbiz says:

    that sucks :(

  21. GoDHoRuS says:

+ he’s got the seat right up his ass:D

  22. madzero says:

when this isnt filled with water is it just some big hole in the middle of the street haha

  23. minishaw says:

the umbrella didnt fail it did its job and for the cry babys get over it

  24. M says:

Actually, Fail Blog is paying all the whiners to keep whining. That way everyone keeps going back to the same threads to give their two cents. The advertisers are eating it up.

  25. knob says:

My first thought was that cycling with an umbrella was in itself a fail (doesn’t keep you dry, take one hand off the handlebars and acts like a sail) this photo just nicely illustrates what can happen to you when you _FAIL_ to cycle safely.

    • Dark says:

I agree, umbrellas are the most useless thing to have on a bike.

      • Homer says:

I think that a tunnel boring machine would be more useless on a bike. (I was going to say some sort of household appliance, except there was that older picture of the guy with the refrigerator on his bike.)

  26. flingtehcow says:

Not the best Fail. Just some guy falling over comically. Each to his own i guess.

  27. Jessicat says:

    Foot-placement fail.

  28. jdmasters says:

    Mary Poppins wanna be.

  29. frostey says:

Boy. That guy must be desperate.

  30. Gia says:

LMAO. He may have been able to slightly save himself from epic FAIL if not for the umbrella. :(

  31. Ben says:

Actually, all you failers are failing, cause there was controversy about this photo, as the photographer knew the pothole was there and was waiting for something like this to happen as the street was busy with bikers…

  32. Julie says:

lot of good the umbrella did him

  33. monoceros says:

This is a misnomer fail by failblog. There’s no umbrella fail in this picture, the umbrella is still fine. It’s rather a bicycle fail, if any.

  34. monoceros says:

    XXX?

  35. Hauntzor says:

In the second shot it’s almost like he turned to liquid.

  36. wat the hell!! says:

    RIHANNA LIED TO US!!!!

  37. XKillerBenX says:

    Umbrellas your doing it wrong.

  38. Jenrai says:

Not an umbrella fail… Definately a cyclist fail though.
For which he was probably rewarded with a handful of broken teeth and an ever so slightly bloodied nose.
Definately a pothole win, come to think of it.
    Bloody cyclists!

  39. fail says:

ella, ella, ella, ay, ay, ay

  40. ummm says:

who would troll here? everyone knows. i hate the internet, and i came into these comments just to see if anyone noticed how the guy was falling in the first place, with his cuff caught around the opposite side of the front wheel- strikes me as a likely rain and slipperey pedal foot combo- guy’s probably wearing smooth soled shoes. the second picture gets it better but you need the first to really see it. this is the worst internet discussion i have ever seen- the top clogged with crap, the middle with complaining, and the end making no effort to return back to the topic. LAST

  41. Herder of Hypocrites says:

    Sweet irony!
