The fact that there are 3 stoplights on one pole, they are practically 2 yards away from each other.
The three lights are one for each of the three lanes at that intersection. I live in this fail-town, and people are always mucking up this intersection. The real sadness is that the city just spent mega-bucks to ‘improve’ this intersection, and people still continually fail to negotiate it. On black friday, they actually had to close lanes and post cops because people failed at obeying the traffic lights in their rampant desire to get to the target that is off the left hand side of that picture.

I attend the Mechanical Engineering course at BCIT in Canada.
A few weeks ago, as I was out on the street waiting for the bus home, I saw a car pull out of the parking lot, and turned left where there was a right-turn only sign, and ended up driving down the wrong side of the street, much like the car in this pic.
At first there was no traffic, but by the time he reached the intersection, there were cars whipping past him. I initially figured it must be some new student who didn’t realize you couldn’t turn left out of that exit, but as the car approached me, I saw that it was, in fact, one of my teachers.
Dr. Cheung has a PhD and has worked at BCIT for about 8 years. He’s also the most incompetent teacher I’ve ever had. It was, at least, nice to have my opinions about his intellect and competence verified by this event.

Ha ha. I saw this happen on BROADWAY in New York the other day. I mean, talk about the worst street to do that on. It took me over a year to feel comfortable crossing that street! Ha ha.

There is a huge secondary fail here…the guy who stopped to take the picture, when he should have been getting the hell out of that lane. He’s looking at the fail driver head on.
The fail is that this is japan and the only guy how’s driving on right road is the one who’s right. So all the others are wrong !

I find it hard to believe that the picture-taker is the only one on the right side of the street and all the others are on the wrong side, but then why are there traffic lights facing the picture-taker? If traffic doesn’t flow that way, there wouldn’t be traffic lights.
Ummm…the picture taker isn’t the only one on the right side of the road. The silver car facing the picture taker is the only one on the wrong side of the road. See the median, the strip of grass surrounded by concrete that separates the silver car from all of the other cars facing the picture taker? Everybody on the left side of that is facing the correct way (even though it’s the left of the picture, it’s their right). The picture-taker is, obviously, on the right side of the road (right as in both correct and opposite of left).
The traffic lights are facing the picture taker because s/he is on the correct side of the road, and traffic lights tend to face the drivers going the correct way. On the other side of the median, I’m sure there’s a set of traffic lights facing the lines of drivers on the left side of the picture, because they’re heading the correct direction and, again, traffic lights tend to face drivers who are going the right way. The lights that you see facing the picture taker are not double-sided and do not have lights facing the driver in the silver car. I think. I could be mistaken, I’m not from Springfield.

Yea, that’s Springfield MO’s Primrose and Glenstone intersection. Jam-packed full of stupid, shitty drivers because (1) the cars in the photographer’s POV are all mashed into the lane that the dumbshit is in normally backup and clog the intersection because 80-year-old grannies can’t figure out how to use a turn lane when going into that strip mall with JoAnne, Shoe Carnival and Best Buy… and (2) there are two chain restaurants that serve lots of alcohol by college students working part time. I bet you $100 that the silver SUV just left Cheddars Restaurant right there and is drunk as shit and dosen’t even realize his car’s stopped.
Another thing of interest — the Maroon Van driving off in the distance looks a lot like my mother’s van. Considering she probably has to drive through that intersection 2-3 times a day, I bet that is her. Hi mom, you’re on teh fail blog!!

I wouldn’t have had that point-of-view, though, as I was driving the gold Alero in the picture (third car back in the left lane… on the CORRECT driving side of the road! *sighs in relief that he wasn’t the one performing said FAIL.

Boy, the comments by the locals are overwhelming!!! I also live in Springfield and am well acquainted with the intersection (as I am more so of this kind of driving). I drive on them for a living and have become utterly ASTOUNDED by some of the stunts I’ve witnessed. It’s painfully obvious that Ozarkian cars are custom-made. Unlike cars from any other part of the nation, ours have two distinct features: 1) each car has one-way glass and three guesses (first two don’t count) as to which way it’s faced and 2) each one comes equipped with stealth turn signals – they’re on, you just can’t see the affects of it. I transplanted from the Chicago area 7 years ago but noticed after a short time of living here the major difference between Chicagoland drivers and Ozarkian drivers. Both have lousy drivers but Chicagoans suffer from arrogance and an innate desire to be first and Ozarkians suffer from ignorance and have no clue what to do with the optional (on some cars) accelerator. If you’re not from around here and ever come to visit, be sure to have a camera charged and ready to go!

Fail for all the lousy drivers – luckily, neither of my parents are Missourians by birth, although my mom’s from Arkansas which is probably worse. But, my dad’s the one who taught me how to drive – I can actually drive a car properly (yeah, like that stick on the left side of the steering wheel? The one that everyone thinks is there for decorative purposes? It’s not…).
