Is that a Texas license plate? Enough said.
It’s not necessarily TX. Every school bus has an exempt plate and it doesn’t always list the state.
But judging by the car next to it, and the length of the top word on the license plate of the bus before it says “exempt”, I’m going with Colorado.
I think the biggest issue here is the massive HR Fail, hiring someone who thought it was a good idea to lock that back door.
But a lot of these bus drivers don’t even gradumauate. No telling what kind of education the transportation adviser for this school district has…

Could be a private vehicle… ie an ex-school bus. Don’t school buses have fleet or exempt license plates? Just sayin’
The schoolbus is empty. Many busses are locked like this because of how unsecure a schoolbus is and what a target they are for vandals, pranksters, and high-school kids. When there are passengers the lock is removed.
The bus has a unit # 11. Privately owned charter schoolbuses do not have Exempts (we run 3 in service buses)
It’s a Texas bus going by the plate, they dont require wording “Stop When Red Lights Flash” either.

Padlocks are stupid on schoolbuses, if they really need to use a lock they should install a very simple device called a vandal lock- it’s one of those little slider bolts that go inside the bus, you slide it into a loop in the door and WOW! It’s locked! But you only use these when parked. Duh.
Sliders are also attatched to the ignition and a buzzer so if you try to start the bus with it locked it’ll tell you to unlock it.
NO SCHOOLBUS SHOULD BE LOCKED ON THE ROAD MOVING EMPTY OR NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Padlocks aren’t great protective measures… and a good kick’ll probably break the lock anyway.

Yes the bus is empty. Yes the plates are TX. There was also an incident in TX where a HS gang member caused a scene on a bus and then tried to jump out of the bus while in motion(facing the wrong way). That kid was killed instantly. Therefore causing more problems amongst local gangs. It is still illegal to lock emergency exit doors while students are present, perfectly exceptable to lock when no children are present

saw a bus just like this at my daughter’s school. Was sitting there wondering just what the fuck was up with the lock when the bus driver came out and removed the padlock prior to using the bus. Must be to keep people out of the bus when it’s not used. I mean, if they have an internal lock, that might just suck in an emergency, right?
