DUCK tape was first invented in World War 2 by the U.S. military to do temporary repairs on their vehicles in the field. It was Army green. Soon soldiers realized that the tape was good for attaching things to their gear, tents etc. The tape was called DUCK TAPE because it repelled water like a duck’s back. AFTER the war, in the 1950’s, people realized it was good for attaching ductwork in houses and the tape was colored silver and renamed DUCT TAPE. IMO, either name is totally appropriate.
