@Claripossum No, this is NOT a MagLev. MagLev trains are going to be safer than anything running on rails like the train in this photo: they have to be, because they will be hitting speeds exceeding 400km/h (~250mph). Read the comments: this is a bullet train and this derailment happened because of an earthquake.

Also, a mag lev train DOES exert force on the track it is travelling on. Equal and opposite reaction and all that jazz.

there are no bars between the rails, but theres no need for them because the rails are both connected to the basement concrete…

notice the lack of wooden or metal bars going between the rails. without those, the weight of the train would slowly push the rails apart. this is a bullet train.

This is NOT a fail — it is a grand success! This sucker was doing over150kp when the earthquake struck. It jumped the track but stayed upright and skid to a stop. No injuries!
