» 83 Failures in Communication

  1. She looks a little worried. As she should.

  2. former jumper says:

been there, done that. it sucks!

  3. Cassidy says:

That horse is going to hurt. I don’t really care about the dumb lady though.

  4. Cassidy says:

LOL. SHE’S ABOUT TO GET A SERIOUS CONCUSSION. LOOK AT THE LOOK ON HER FACE. SHE’S ALL LIKE, AHHH!!!!

  5. Cassidy says:

NO, SHE’S LOOKING DOWN. SHE DOESN’T EVEN CARE.

    • Lulz says:

OMG, I TYPE IN ALL CAPS. THAT MAKES ME A WINNER LIKE YOU AMIRITE?

      • adam says:

Well, that’s quite an interesting question. You see, I would normally at this point say “Caps fail”, and that you are a failer, not a fighter. But that would actually be a compliment – We are all failers here, and proud of it. That’s the point of the website.
So the answer is yes, typing in all caps makes you a winner. A complete and total winner. And you should be very ashamed of it.

  6. JayKay says:

OMG, I laughed out loud at this one…and then I felt bad for the horse!

  7. DOUCHE says:

    i didn’t understand this.

  8. Swiftest says:

It looks like it already hit its teeth . . . poor horse! It’s going to need some definite bengay after all that.

  9. Homer says:

That is what happened to Christopher Reeve.

  10. Kid Choronsom says:

Why does it say “upcoming”? that’s a failing statment. This fail is definitely already in FULL process

  11. StitchedKitten says:

Lol…either way, both horse AND lady are gonna lose a few teeth I think.
    And I agree with #14 – “upcoming” = weak :/

  12. Dark says:

Yeah, you two are right, it’s way beyond upcoming. And I feel sorry for teh horse, I hope the woman has serious injuries on the way.

  13. bxt says:

I think this is def an “upcoming” fail — from what I’ve seen so far (disclaimer: I’m new to the wonderful world of FAILs), fail pix tend to be taken after the fact.

  14. zim says:

    wHAT A PREDICAMENT

  15. Kid Choronsom says:

@17: Ok I’ll agree that even more fail is coming up

  16. KY GAL 17 says:

I’m pretty sure that pic is from the Rolex KY 3 day event..that horse died and the girl is in a coma with pneumonia…kinda not funny

    • Anonymous says:

Its not Rolex. Because you read about a horse that fell and had to be put down at Rolex and saw a picture of a horse falling does not make them related. Learn the facts.

    • 3-phase eventer says:

thats definently not rolex, you can tell from the back round that thats not the ky horse park, and i don’t recall ever hearing of a major life threatening injury at the RKY3day during stadium, all the recent deaths and such have happened out in the cross country course.
*not that injuries don’t happen in stadium, everytime you ride a horse you are exposing your self to injury*

  17. Anonymous says:

This is the the Rolex Ky and is really not funny. The horse had to be euthanised on the spot and the girl is still in a coma in the hospital . And that lady is not “dumb”…..she is a girl, a girl who is hurt badly. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

    • Anonymous says:

You’re stupid. This is NOT Rolex. I have pictures of Rolex AND I have pictures of the accident and this isn’t it. Be even slightly informed before deciding that this definitely is Rolex. Damnit.

    • justjumper4 says:

Obviously is not the Rolex – she’s inappropriately attired. If it had been Rolex, she’d be in a coat with her hair restrained, and wearing a certified helmet. BTW, the high rise in the background as well as the helmet would indicate non-US rider..

  18. Anonymous says:

Making horses jump is retarted. They even kill the horses if they break their legs. Not because it wouldn’t heal but because they’d no longer be useful for horse races. Disgusting humans.

    • Anonymous says:

Actually, horses are built to jump and they LOVE it. They see a jump and their ears go forward, you can feel the surge of energy as they race towards the jump. Its their favorite thing.

Secondly, racing horses has nothing to do with jumping unless you’re talking about steeple chasing, which is a small and rare outcrop of racing largely practiced overseas.

Thirdly, no they wouldn’t heal. Humans can use crutches; horses cannot. A bad break that would need crutches with people would not heal on a horse because putting them on three legs for the six to twelve months needed for a spectacular break to heal is not feasible. It only makes the horse suffer interminably.

Last, there are millions of people on this earth who would give their lives and souls to save and help their horses. Don’t be so fast to judge.

      • Anonymous says:

Yeah, I bet this horse is lovin’ those jumps right now…

      • chrishby says:

I agree. Many (not all) horses actually do love to jump. If they don’t want to, you really can’t make them. And most horses are not able to do jumps as high as the one in this pic. This is an advanced team, and I am betting the horse didn’t go over (he is really back on his haunches). The rider might even have stayed on or “just” have rolled off rather than somersaulting.

This is a stadium course which is why the jump is poles that come down which is a safety factor for both horse and rider. Eventing is solid jumps which can be deadly, especially if a horse or rider is “overfaced” (doing more than training or ability allow, as I would say was the case with poor Mr. Reeves). Because of the fatalities during eventing over the past few years, the rules are changing. Nobody who loves horses wants to hurt them (or ourselves). We do, however, want to be with them and enjoy a bond that is like no other (really, it is special).

      • Been riding for 8+ years says:

Thank you to Anon (the second, not the first), you are right on all points. To the original poster, I must ask, have you ever ridden a horse? Not a pony (though they can be feisty, damn lil buggers loved biting me if I was too slow with the treats after a lesson, which thankfully wasn’t often, I learned to have quick hands lol), but a healthy, happy, engaged horse. If you have, you’d know how obvious their joy at being able to run (I know, ‘canter’/'gallop’) and jump is. Plus, now (idk when this was taken) nearly ALL professional (heck, most jump equipment) is made so if the horse (or rider) hits it, it rolls off (in the direction the horse is going) to prevent or minimize injury.
Another indication of your staggering ignorance (I’m trying to be polite, but it’s hard) is this: Racing DOES NOT (I repeat NOT) equal jumping (unless it’s steeple-chasing, which is btw, hellafun). Racing = flat, open ground, like with cars, but grass, not pavement.
So yes, the girl mis-judged the jump (or she made it, I’ve seen horses pull of amazing jumps, I’ve done a few I thought were’t possible), but that doesn’t mean she’s cruel. Her horse probably got pampered the whole way home. And for the record, lil-miss-know-it-all, I’ve know horse owners who spend more on their horse then themselves. I knew a girl who KNOWINGLY (to save him) bought a gelding (he was only 2/3 years old) so abused he panicked at the sight or a saddle or bridle, lavished him with care for years, and now he comes right up to her (he’s not to trusting of strangers, but who would be), has WON jumping and dressage competitions. So yes, some people see horses as animals, but don’t you dare imply that we all do.
To the animal lovers out there, I say ROCK ON! To the haters? Kiss my (horse’s) ass.

        • MeG says:

this. THIS. Thank you. I hate when people condemn something without knowing jack shit. I do hunter myself, hoping to get into some jumping.

    • puh leeze says:

Fail. Broken legs are very rare in horse jumping. They are commonplace in horse RACING. Two different things.

    • Anon says:

Perhaps you may like to educate yourself a little before commenting. I am a vet and 90% of horses that brake their legs must be put down due, not only, to the large amount of weight they need to support on such tiny legs and a fractured leg not being able to ever properly support that, but also because they can’t use crutches like humans, and to sedate a horse so that it will stand still for long enough for the leg to heal often has worse implications to their health than the resetting of their leg is worth.

Very few horses are calm enough to be able to sucessfully heal from a broken leg.

      • Gramm..er.. Nassi. says:

I am a vet that cannot spell “break”. Your education both astounds and surprises me good sir/madam. I’m no grammar nazi, but stating that you participate in a profession which requires many years of education and then confusing or incorrectly spelling a simple word simply serves to make you seem foolish.

        Good day.

  19. Q says:

Anonymous comments tend to ruin this site… I get the feeling there’s like 1 dude who posts as anonymous throughout the whole site.

  20. Kit says:

It’s not that they’re no longer useful for racing (they’d just sell it for money anyway) it’s the stress on the horse to heal a leg. horses can’t survive unless they can stand with full weight on at LEAST 3 legs. it’s necessary for bloodflow. Don’t call us discusting, we do what we can and more and more advanced research is being done to try to help these horse. Look at Barbaro (is that the right spelling?) they did what htye could and he just couldn’t survive it. Lighten up Anonymous!

    • 3-phase eventer says:

yea, and most broken legs aren’t actually able to be set properly in an animal as big as a horse, like barbaro, even though his leg did eventually heal, the process of the healing did more harm than good, and that was a top of the line vetrinary hospital with some of the best vets in the world.

  21. thesi says:

    poor horse!!!!!!!

  22. suzi says:

horse r bred to run and jump. Horses in the wilde jump over logs and gallop up hills
i agree with Kit, the horses are put down so they dont suffer… so wud u rather see the horse in pain, rather than out of its misery???
i feel for that girl and horse :(

  23. dev says:

shes not wearing a REAL HELMET. No straps. theres the real fail!

    • Anonymous says:

That is the real fail, you’re right. Stupid hunter/jumper people.

      • 3-phase eventer says:

thats not hunter/jumper, lol i would say thats plain jumper, hunters and most jumper competitions it is required to war proper head wear, and hunters would never jump that high, im guessing she’s just in a country were horse sports are not as well regulated and rules and regualtions are ignored

      • MeG says:

Hey I do hunter/jumper and wear the correct helmet thanks! Not worth a concussion!

  24. dev says:

and by the way this is NOT the Rolex competition, dummy. shes got her hair in a ponytail, no hunt coat, and a bridle without a browband.

  25. dev says:

the horses at the rolex that died were doing cross country not even this event

  26. Anonymous says:

Which event was this then? People keep telling us what it wasn’t – was this at an event? Something private? Plain old practice?

    • Emma says:

There are thousands of horse competitions held in the country each year, and more overseas, so I cannot tell you which event this is. I can only tell you definitively which event it isn’t when other people insisted that it was.

    • Celeste says:

I have to agree with Emma, there’s no way to know. It’s obviously in an urban area, but, the fact that she doesn’t have a jacket on, or her hair up neatly, etc means that it wasn’t a very important event. It’s either one of thousands of minor show jumping shows, or simply practice.

    • Andi says:

Definitely overseas as USET rules state that an APPROVED helmet must be worn while jumping. This dumb girl was wearing a hunt cap ( strap), she might as well be wearing a baseball hat. Good old Darwin at his finest right here.

  27. Aubree Conklin says:

All of you are so dumb. Horses love to jump. They love to run. The girl does have a strap under her chin, its tan, and her horse does have a browband, it blends in with the shading. This could’ve been a local event because her shirt is show attire. Her hair is right at the limit of being disqualified at local shows. I’ve done jumping, that high too. its not a funny thing for a horse and a person to make a mistake that could risk thier lives. And they also put horses down because the vets think that the horse could not live with a cast. In the movie Dreamer, they put the horse on a sling, wich a horse can not be in for more than a few hours before there circulation is cut off due to thier legs not moving. So HA to all of you that are dumb and clueless. HA!!!

  28. sultant says:

    ABOUT TO FAIL LOL
poor horse hope that bitch get what she deserves though.

  29. Dizzylizard says:

lol, kinda looks like the boss form MGS3

    unrelated o.O

but still, that’s gonna be sore.

  30. RollTheDice says:

    NOMNOMNOM DELICIOUS POST

  31. nwcbud8 says:

What really is happening in this picture is…

The jump isn’t as high as it appears. Teh horse and rider misqued and has pretty much run straight into the jump.

Horses do love to run and jump…even when casually riding a horse will still jump fallen trees, puddles of water or whatever they happen to come across.

I am willing to be that neither horse nor rider where injurred.

  32. sidhe says:

dumbies. if you have the urge to be outraged at a form of horse racing…dig into chariot racing and other simply pointless acts of animal cruelty

  33. zombieduck says:

Instead of bitching about animal cruelty like a typical,judgemental,P.E.T.A. member, why does nobody see what’s really going on.It’s JUST an angle. If you say we humans are disgusting, then that makes you JUST as disgusting as the rest of us.I’m sick of these idiots talking as if they forget the species they belong to.I’ve had vegans tear me a new one because I don’t follow their lifestyle like some idiot that can’t think for themselves. So please,at least laugh when something is funny instead of taking things out of context. If you forget how to laugh you eventually forget how to live.

  34. Malexhe says:

I was on ROFLrazzi, clicked a pic, and redirected to this one on failblog instead.
    Am I magic?

  35. Rebecca says:

Emma, I have to say I agree with you. I also must say I find it quite repulsive the way people jump to conclusion and label us as “disgusting”. And for those who called the girl in this situation a bitch, you people really need to get a life. As stated, this not appear to be a serious fall. I bet both horse and rider walked away with maybe a few scrapes and bruises if anything. I would also like to lay on the table that I own a half blind 8 year old quarter horse gelding named Blackjack who abdolutley adored

    • Rebecca says:

Who absolutley adores jumping. We too have had our share of falls similar to this and were both fine.

(itouchs suck for posting stuff like this. Atleast on an actual computer you have less of a chance of hitting the wrong button. I still love my iPod though)

    • MeG says:

      THIS. Thank you!

  36. Julie says:

the FAIL has already happened, as a rider myself I know you must be prepared long before this point… this girl wasn’t less the horse would not be in this position and nor would she. and I agree with Rebecca, horse and rider are most likely fine. traumatized, but over all ok.

  37. Annie says:

wow. u guys can ramble.. hahaha. i’m reading the first few comments and i’m in a class right now… people were starting to stare at the snickering me :P

  38. Meg says:

been there before, fell of but not during a jump. ouch.

  39. Meppin says:

Doesn’t look like to me the horse has jumped yet.
    Good pic.

  40. JumperChic says:

Yeek yeek yeek, would not want to be her! And please don’t say she’s a stupid bitch who gets what’s coming to her, she just made a mistake, and the horse did too. YOU try doing 13 jumps in 70 seconds and we’ll see how well you do. Just a mistake folks, they are probably fine. Poor both of them

  41. MeG says:

yeah. sometimes the WORST looking falls are the LEAST bad injury wise. I fell off jumping, got my foot caught in the stirrup and flipped. Landed on my butt but it looked BAD.

  42. Phar Lap says:

OMG I feel so sorry for that horse!! Thats prob an asian in disguise thinking ‘Im gonna eat that horse when its dead.. Dead tastes better’ ;)
