Ok, here’s what my degree in Latin is telling me:
Winner in Latin is ‘victor,’ unless the winner is female, in which case it’s ‘victrix.’
In Latin, victus is the perfect passive participle of the verb vinco, vincere, vici, victum, meaning to conquer, win, defeat.
This means that in Latin, the name of this boat is literally “conquered one,” or, loser. FAILURE, even (with some creative license).
Victis would have to be the plural dative or plural ablative adjective (or substantive adjective) in the case of first and second declinsion nouns, or else a third declinsion genitive singular adjective (depending on whether the second i were long or short).
‘Victus’ does not mean ‘food’ in any language I’m familiar with.
Whether or not this is meant to be a reference to the Latin is debatable, but if it is, epic fail in the naming department. (Though apt, considering this ship’s fate.)
tl; dr: in real Latin, this boat’s name is basically FAILURE.
I’m gonna call ’shop on this one. The scale of the house to the liner is all wrong, the refraction of sunlight off the ship doesn’t match the overcast and shadow on the house, and it appears that there are layer lines between the house and the ship.
This is real guys, I live in the village where it happened!! where now the boat is – was the house! the boat just pushed the house forward :p hehe it was funny, – Finaly after a long vacation you come home = Where is my G*dm house!!! hahaha

That was a collegue of mine:P This happened in Holland (Friesland) In a town called grau:P I work on one of these:P The skipper was to tired to navigate properly trough the narrow channel:p
Wow! That’s close.
If the boat was called “victis” then it would be winner in Latin. So close to an epic win.
As it is it means food. I guess that fits with delivers.
No, in that would be plural
It is infact winner
or it can be a participicle, which would be translated as “the one who overwon”

How did they manage to get that into there?
Vaseline can do anything!
But vasoline stands powerless to the all-mighty power of BUTTER
or animal fat in general. Good ol’ fashioned LARD
Please make a category for Failboat, the ongoing saga of Failboat requires its own category!
Indeed!
failboat for the win

Hm. I recant.
I agree with Daniel. I think it’s Photoshop.

Lost at sea. Man, these people were really lost.
I definitely take it back. It’s a bad picture, but it appears legit:

What do you need to know about compressed air?
Yikes!
Definitely fake/photoshopped. Get rid of this one.

The failboat never fails to bring me joy………
All aboard the failboat!!!!!!
Get new pics! Please!!!
Nice! This is hilarious
It is. I’m getting tired of these, though.
Yeah……….Sorry man,but you kinda do.
Well, I acctually have seen this ship and house here in Holland (Grou) during my sail vacation. It really happened and it was a big mess. It IS REAL!
its a whole new kind of houseboat…..
gCaptain’s blog is THE shit… lots more failboats there!
Wow guys, you all failed badly. Screaming “OMG shopped!” doesn’t make you look cool, intelligent or professional… especially when it’s a real image.
Ah, I love Failboat. It never fails to fail.
[...] I can shut that sucker down. In the meantime, ladies and gentleman, I believe we have found our new FAILboat [...]
This is real guys, I live in the village where it happened!! where now the boat is – was the house! the boat just pushed the house forward :p hehe it was funny, – Finaly after a long vacation you come home = Where is my G*dm house!!! hahaha
“Can we redecorate NOW, Honey?!”
I’d be suing the pants off the company that owns the ship!
“Do you know where the failboat is?
I seem to have fallen off…”
Whether or not it’s photoshopped, it’s still funny.
It actually happened in Friesland, The Netherlands. I saw it in the paper last summer.
Dude this is… well it ain’t a real funny fail… oh wellz nice try
At first I thought this was a super-cool house designed as a ship. How disappointing.
That was a collegue of mine:P This happened in Holland (Friesland) In a town called grau:P I work on one of these:P The skipper was to tired to navigate properly trough the narrow channel:p
WHAAAAAAAAAA…..! What the heck happened to the driver of the boat??
At first glance I thought it was a theme restaurant and was looking for the fail…
Given the position of the boat in relation to the house, maybe it should be called E-victus.
titanic celine dion kind of a fail.
