This picture was taken in the Philippines when a couple of boneheads took over the Manila Peninsula Hotel to stage another failed coup attempt in late 2007. The army was sent in to take control of the situation…capping with the ramming of an army APC into the entrance of the poor old hotel! A picture of that is a much bigger fail!!!

In terms of gun fire, they might as well be clustered behind a cardboard box. Anytime you see people hiding behind car doors in movies, remember the box of truth.
Yah they showed that in Mythbusters they turned a car into swiss cheese. The only thing it stopped was a 9mm round XD.
I did military service, so I know a bit more about what bullets can and cannot do.
9mm bullets can be stopped by a car door at a range of 50m. 5.56mm can get stopped by bricks, or going through an entire car. The cars bodywork might not be able to stop a bullet, but things like the engine block, gearbox, axels and the undercarriage most certainly can. 7.62 however can go through concrete buildings.
Clustering large ammounts of soldiers is generally a bad idea. We always had a certain spacing while possibly in combat, since they wouldn’t be able to wipe out our platoon with just one grenade.
