    • chrishby says:

I agree. I have a horse. Horses do not buck like that if they are treated correctly. They usually don’t even buck like that if handled badly! That is one unhappy horse.
I detest rodeo and so-called cowboys. Abusive a-holes, all of them.

      • VeganVixen says:

        I agree with you!
I attended a free-admission rodeo and documented lots of abuse. Horses repeatedly hit in the face. Calves and steers shocked with a hot shot, kicked, hit, repeatedly slammed against bars, and having their tails pinched. Calves thrown and dragged. A horse who tried so desperately to get out of the chute, repeatedly kicking the bars, and trying to climb over it, that he injured his leg and came out of the chute on three legs.

There’s tons of footage and photos documenting abuse in rodeos along with advice on what you can do about it at RodeoCruelty.com

That´s great! The cowboy deserves this, it´s so cruel what they do to horses

    • Have horses will ride says:

firstly: falling off would have been enough of a ‘punishment’
ever done that before? (didnt think so)
secondly: in most rodeos/bucking bronc shows, the horses are mustangs that were thinned to keep wild populations from starving. those horses thinned enrich the captive strains, so less captive-bred of the species will have health issues.
thirdly: the thinned horses used in the rodeos bring in money for the people who own them, so they can keep the horse healthy, along with it’s species.
fourthly: if you have ever been to a rodeo (doubt that) you would know that all the animals are well cared-for. if the animals in the event dont bring in a few dollars, the animals would probably end up being sold as meat (dog food) instead of living the rest of their long lives (frequently over 25) as a stud/brood mare on pasture.

p.s.-most competition horses (excluding ‘chasers and hunters) are retired to their natural callings and pastureland at aruond 4-6 years. an event every month or so…12 in a year (for rodeos) 8 seconds of stress? of ”torture” 96 seconds? a minute and a half a year for 2-3 years.

sounds like a good life to me!

      p.p.s. (you just got what was coming to you, i’d like to see you under that buckskin and say the same again;

do you know what a buckskin is? (i’ll give you a hint: its a coat color, and it has something to do with the jumping horse above)

      • cowboyssuck says:

Raking horses with spurs and cranking tight straps around their genitals is pretty cruel, so yeah this guy deserves what he gets.

Don’t forget the horses get stuffed into chutes, whipped, smacked around, tormented, and badgered into bucking. Anyone taking part in this absolutely deserves stomping and more.

      • Condescending much? says:

Please. Bucking straps are so inhumane. Sure, in English style there are some cruel riders, but at least they don’t put a tight strap around the most sensitive part of their bodies! For another thing. Don’t just assume people don’t know anything about horses, simply because they disagree with you. That buckskin comment was completely uncalled for. And anyone who participates in cruel rodeo does deserve to be thrown. And don’t try to throw the “you’ve never fallen off” in my face, because I’ve fallen off, been kicked, bitte, stepped on, you name it. As for the “herd thinning”, how the HELL do you think they managed before? Taking a wild horse and forcing it to become docile is just wrong. If the horse was born in captivity, it will stay in captivity. If the horse is wild, just leave it out there. Yeah, the ranchers will take shots, but sign petitions, or anything. Or better yet, get the ranchers to just put up some damn fences!

        • chrishby says:

Or stop letting people run cattle and sheep on public lands. Even better, why doesn’t everyone just stop eating cows and let the wild be wild? And yes, I do know the horses aren’t native (unless we go waaaaay back) and can be considered feral rather than truly “wild”, but they do fine without us when we let natural predators back into the system (which we tend not to because of said cows and sheep).
Please note that animal activists do understand the “balance of nature, red in tooth and claw, death is a part of life” thing. We just choose to live lower on the food chain in an effort to be humane and to more fairly distribute resources both to our fellow humans and to the natural world.

  18. DIa says:

actually that horse probably won’t even land on the guy…most horses(even mustangs) will avoid stepping on people if they can, and he has plenty of room to land safely.

  19. Jake says:

I wouldn’t like to have been near that horse….

  22. ker says:

Does anyone else thinks it looks like the guy’s head is in the horse’s arse?

  23. A Watt says:

Actually, no, NOT about to fail. It is so obvious that the guy is nowhere near that horse.

  24. A Watt says:

And, for those people who think this is cruel, most rodeo events are very cruel. But this event actually isn’t. Because once a horse learns that they can buck a person off, they LOVE it. Nobody actually forces the horses to buck, they’ve simply learned that they can do it, nobody is going to stop them, and they can throw people OFF when they do it. Trust me, that horse was having a ball.

    • chrishby says:

Horses do not buck like that even when they are having fun. I’ve turned out, lunged, and ridden a lot of horses, including some damned high ones (for non-horsy people, “high” means “full of energy and needing to let off steam”). I’ve seen bucks and rears and kicks and bites, all in play, and they are nothing like that kind of rodeo buck! I’d like to tie a strap around your nether region and see how you react! Fun, my foot! (Actually, it would be fun to watch you do that! Maybe you could videotape and post it here? I suspect it would be a definite Fun Fail.)

  25. hotfuzz459 says:

OMG OMG OMG OMG MOUNT ISA RODEO! IM FROM MOUNT ISA! they have this same picture up in one of the restaurants here, except without the “about to fail” part. lol

  26. Unrequired says:

    Shut up, horsey.

  27. WingedDemon says:

Let’s focus on the horse for a moment… Do you see how much air that beautiful animal is getting? It’s got to be… what… six feet off the ground (granted, the back hooves are less than that, but STILL). Amazing jumpers.

My horse tried to buck me off once. He doesn’t like cantering, so whenever you ask him to do that, BUCK. It was quite fun, actually…

    • chrishby says:

If he bucks when asked to canter, his back might not be strong enough or is hurting in some way. Make sure your saddle fits and also that you aren’t banging him in the back or mouth, or digging in your heels, when making the transition. If he doesn’t buck with another rider (so long as it’s a good rider), it’s you. If he does, it’s training or something is wrong.

  28. xxDiseasexx says:

Does anybody else notice the kid picking his nose?

  29. VeganVixen says:

It’s true. I’ve documented rodeos and horses will continue to buck until the strap is removed. I’ve also seen horses beaten while in the chute.

  30. z says:

it looks like the horses but is gonna land on the cowboy in a yello + wite shirt

  31. evilmaniak says:

    body slaaaaaaaaaammm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. Arambie says:

Noooo. The bucking strap is used on English saddles. Instead of a horn to hold onto, you hold the bucking strap. It is located at the front of the saddle.

Though I DO agree on the horses being mistreated.
