That mouse is obviously more than a little dead. So… not cute… Anticute… Gross actually. I bet the smell made them curious first. I love rodents this made me sad
Rodents close their eyes when they die, this rat is obviously constricted but not in any harm at all. I, in fact, have two pet rats of my own (which are very similar to mice), and this is a very common face they make, so don’t be sad, the mouse is fine I’m sure.
Such a funny picture I have come across, rodents like mice and rats love small dark places such as printerwells and my rat has gotten into the same predicament:
If you are not experienced at spotting fake photos and just shout that anything strange is a shop job, GTFO noob. Let us experienced people spot the fakes. If something just looks fake, but has no signs of photoshop, I would say something like, “You should consider this with question regarding its origins. It does not appear to be fake to a trained eye, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it was not staged or shopped by a true professional.”
I work for HP. This rumor had floated around for a long time with this picture going up on several people’s cubes. From what I understand, this came into the defect tracking group at the site I work at (not the printer, but the story with pics). It is real and I heard the mouse did live. Snopes has more: http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/mousetoner.asp
So, the mouse is real (dead or alive) but why someone photoshopped hamtaro-style sparkly eyes on it, I don’t know… maybe to make it look more alive and pathetic?
weird
Recently in India we had some “please check left cartridge” error. Opening the printer we found a chachundar (asian house shrew) inside the printer.
Didn’t get the chance to take a nice photo…
that looks real enough if it is a fake, the eyes are from the flash of the camera but it looks more like a shredder to me. if it isnt, a mouse can survive being under that but like in the photo its eyes would bulge and it would get hurt so kids, dont try this at home
It’s real, I know the guy who took this photo, he used to be a printer technician or something (The photo is quite old). IIRC the mouse was very much dead.
The mouse probably had a few seconds of pain before it bought the farm — maybe a rib pierced its heart or its neck was broken. All in all it was likely considered a gallant death by mouse standards — the thing died on an adventure, boldly going where few mice had gone before.
So while we should lament that mouse’s almost certain death, it died in grand fashion… and at least it didn’t endure the long-term pain of starving to death.
or being eaten
why is everyone so up-tight about one mouse inside a printer? i have chickens (lots) and we had 20 bags of feed (50 lbs per) some busy mice chewed all the bags and nested in some-(ruining all)
then we let the birds (about 160 at that point-not all grown) clean up the mess, the mice got what was coming to them-
did you know that chickens LOVE pinkie mice?
does everybody forget that mice carry/ed the black plauge? (ok the fleas on the mice) every wonder why animals that are always inside get fleas/ticks?
by breathing in the dust from mice nests, people can get serious respratory diseases.
uh, people, i hate to break it– mice are vermin
No Photoshopping here. Snopes is correct on this point:
These are the real deal and were posted on another site by a member of the site (using an alias) who got the pictures from an e-mail which was sent to staff at her place of employment. The link to the original thread is below:
The backstory: A printer was being serviced by the IT staff. The mouse was found caught in the cartridge; it was freed by IT staff and scampered, apparently unharmed, off to parts unknown.
These pictures were taken to document the “find” and prove WHY the cartridge did not survive to make it to the recycler (and had to be replaced prematurely).
The offices (for a State of Connecticut governmental agency) are in an old building, which often suffers from mouse infestations so the fact a mouse got in to the building and even the printer is no surprise. The fact it got into the printer cartridge and actually survived its “curiosity got the cat…eh…rodent” event is.
Nobody knows how it managed to get in there…it just did. However, I do know something about rodents: Mice can get into very tiny spaces (even a RAT can get through an opening the size of an American quarter dollar coin). I suppose the mouse thought the cartridge was a “den” and went inside to hide and/or investigate but was unable to get out, possibly because of the way those rollers likely work; I suppose they operate well in only one direction and the direction corresponding to “out”, for that mouse, apparently was not it.
a hamster, a mouse, omg.. you people feel sorry for it because you ‘love rodents” and stuff… its a goddamned rat! and ofcouse its nasty to be stuck like that but who do you think got the RAT in that position?
right.
awww…so cute…

They don’t close their eyes when the skin on their head is being pulled back into the machinery of a printer.
ouch.
If you love rodents so much then why do you suffocate them inside your anus?
hahahahhahahaahaah soooo funny hahaha XD
Billy, having recently bought a new computer, was a little confused with the mouse putting the mouse on the printer.
“PC Unload Rodent”? What the **** does that mean?
Nice office space reference…which i watched again just last night on VHS. i think it’s photoshop to tell you the truth.
Cute, but very very dead.
Why is there red comming from the blue ink cartridge?
realisation of loss of life FAIL
Paper- $.20
Printer- $600
Mouse- $14
Mouse in printer -$614
Knowing that youve just been owned by the comment above… PRICELESS
photoshopped losers
shut up
my first thought is poor mouse.
god I’m a sucker.
Mine too. ):>
Yes, poor mouse.
pollardito, LOVE the Office Space reference….nicely played!
that happened to me the other day too……except it was my cat
Is the mouse dead
?
(Beware, PETA are around the corner… Lol)
Good thing it didn’t get stuck in the fuser. Ewwww.
THIS IS NOT FUNNY, DON’T YOU HAVE JALOUSY, THE MOUSE IS DEAD
umm… wouldent is be sympathy?
and why would we be jEAlous of a dead mouse?
I congratulate you on your most recent fail.
omg you’re rite, that mouse is probably dead and i am so friggin “jealous” rite now!
lol nice
Wow, reading that “jalousy” comment wasted valuable seconds of my life. My own fault–should have noticed the all-caps clue.

Hunter does the pole up your ass have a pole up its ass?
Now that is a worthy post.
Photoshop alert!
asdf, what makes you think this is a photoshop?
I used to work at a printer repair shop, and something exactly like this picture happened!
this pictures so funny regardless of if it’s photoshopped or not i’m not a “trained professional” so stop taking shit so serious and just laugh at it
Like hunter above said, not everything that seems unlikely is photoshopped. All the pixels seem correct, I mean, come on, look at the whiskers.
If this is photoshopped, it’s a great job, and whoever did it deserves a job doing it.
asdf,
Alcari is up Hunter’s ass
But is the mouse dead
((((((((((?
have you looked how much room there is inside a printer? I don’t think it survived….
Not that it really matters for this blog, as the comedy of the picture is what matters, whether they’re real/staged/faked or whatever…
But this is indeed a genuine photo. What isn’t known is if it was staged, or if the mouse survived.

I bet asdf thinks that Zapruder was photoshopped.

Yay taggit, thanks for the great news ^_^
IT LIVES!!!!!
I think asdf’s brain must be photoshopped in too
oh wait, he used MS paint. even worse
PHOTOSHOP FAIL.
Awwwh~ Save him TT__TT
So, the mouse is real (dead or alive) but why someone photoshopped hamtaro-style sparkly eyes on it, I don’t know… maybe to make it look more alive and pathetic?
weird
there are a dozen mouse/printer puns out there to choose from – I’m gonna go with…
if printing fails, move mouse and try again
Recently in India we had some “please check left cartridge” error. Opening the printer we found a chachundar (asian house shrew) inside the printer.
Didn’t get the chance to take a nice photo…
uh…this is actually not funny at all. poor mouse.
Exploring gone wrong…poor mouse…
lol its eyes are bulging out, its probably not dead, mice can squeeze under doors.
that looks real enough if it is a fake, the eyes are from the flash of the camera but it looks more like a shredder to me. if it isnt, a mouse can survive being under that but like in the photo its eyes would bulge and it would get hurt so kids, dont try this at home
its not a shredder. it says HP laserjet.

oh poor thing!
this isnt even funny
Silver lining?

not all mice…
Someone already posted a link to this photo’s article. It is a real photo and it is a mouse THAT SURVIVED.
its still alive because its eyes are open and its trying to get out, things like this make me upset
PC Load Letter??
It’s still alive, if it were dead the eyes would be half closed and wouldnt have a shine, i hope it got out alive

the mouse lived and they released him (read that in one of the posted links in the comments)
fake
ahhh no!!!
It’s a fuckin hamster not a mouse.
It’s for sure a mouse.
Might look into that legal name change thing now.
something similar happened to the boa of a friend….
It’s almost a shame that the mouse didn’t make it to the fuser. *8P
For anyone whose watched the Castle:
“I cleared tray 3 four f*cking times!!!”
Comment WIN!!
ouch. looks like it might hurt JUST a bitt.
toxonomy fail!!!
it’s a RAT dude
taxonomy. spelling fail.
