I received a number of complaints about the presentation of the website. Most of these were to do with the K2-Lite theme, which put the comment link above the post, contrary to tradition. I have taken this on board while designing the new theme, based on Sandbox. The heavily customised CSS may still have a few bugs, so this post is open to comments on problems you may find.

I am not personally fond of small fonts or centering, but it appears that everything is displaying properly and intelligibly in Firefox 2.x. Also, there is (apparently) no color for visited links, which is confusing.
Very nice, a little light maybe and I’m not a fan of centered text either, but good job.
Thanks for the QUICK feedback! Would you prefer left align? I’ll give it a day or so and if that’s the general consensus then I’ll make the change.
The small fonts and light colouring are deliberate. I’m trying to draw attention away from the text – this blog is about the pictures after all!
Thanks again

Very nice, I am personally very fond of small text. I have my resolution very high as well so I can say that it is very legible even very tiny. I would increase the contrast however. The text is too light I would say.
Left align some things.
Center some things.
Never design by committee
I think I would let the titles stand out more. Titles are meant to stand out.
#999 and #ABC are way too light for text. Its merely ok on my monitor but its a decent one. I really doubt I would be able to read it on my laptop. remember people with crappy displays. i personally never go lighter than #555 on white, but i also want my text to be read

up the contrast or the font size. Or both.
Otherwise nice. I love the grey. That said I view FAILS via RSS feed on NewsFire to it doesn’t especially matter
I think I liked it more before, to be honest…
mine eyes! zee goggles, zey do nothing! more contrast please. align left please.
Ya, increase the contrast on the text. The pictures are the focus, but that doesn’t mean it should be necessary to strain one’s eyes to read everything else (especially when typing these comments).
Looks great in NetNewsWire and Safari 3. Centering and light headings/text/etc really emphasizes the images which I think is the idea. Very nice. Agree with #4: F@*k the committee.
Being a software developer and not a GUI developer, aesthetics are completely lost on me. Thus, the visual changes affect me in no way, but the functional changes (i.e. Where did the links to other FAIL sites go?) I used to use this page as a hub to DoingItWrong, etc.
I only ever see this site in Google Reader so I don’t care eitherway… RSS for the win!
Joking aside, I like it – text legibility is irrelevant because you hardly ever have any text except for ‘thanks to mr x’ – it’ll look really screwy left aligned as well.
It’s fine… leave it as is.
Not enough going on in this design for me – but then I still haven’t really caught onto the whole “web 2.0″ look either!
If someone is looking for a clean light style then it seems a fair choice to me.
It does bump its’ head all over the accessibility standards though.
Looks great to me… Everything’s neat and clean and I don’t know what the fuss over the contrast of the text is? I can read everything perfectly fine…
Good job! Much better than before. n__n
Not a big fan of the redesign.
The comments section on individual posts looks good, but on the front page the posts just sort of melt into each other. Theres not enough space to seperate them up.
Thats not such a big issue when its just a photo, but if you do a post of mainly text it’ll be hard to pick out.
Also, I’m not a big fan of the header. The 2nd (lighter) grey box looks like it shouldnt be there. Perhaps you could put the “descriptive words” in the header DIV to the right of the Blog title, and turn the navigation menu into a single level bar that runs along the bottom of the header (if that makes sense).
That said, the blogs content is still brilliant, so I’ll keep reading regardless!!
Fail CSS lol
Yeah, nicer than before.
you have no idea how long it took me read this. yet alone to write this. every key stroke has twok “delete” strokes…. apart from the … they were easy. i am totally not stoned and have a reall long attentionsp.. oo… a butterfly!
