» 68 Failures in Communication

  1. Ethan Hunt says:

An airplane probly droped it, I’ts kind of pathetic u couldn’t figure that out urself.

  2. Ethan Hunt says:

    Or Helecopter.

  3. DUHHH says:

Actually what’s pathetic is your inability to follow steph’s link to find out that it is a deliberate work of art. FAIL.

  4. Stephanie says:

Please would you use your own picture of the shark?

It seems very mean to steal mine and take the credit. All my webpages have a copyright notice.

  5. Alcari says:

Stephanie, how the heck is the site owner supposed (leechio) to know where a picture came from.

Also, Legal FAIL, copyright notices are superceded by Fair Use.

  6. Stephanie says:

It’s not the site owner’s fault, but the person who posted it must have knowingly taken it off my site.

I don’t mind people using my photographs, but I don’t like them adding their own text and passing them off as their own: surely that isn’t fair use?

But never mind, I am getting a lot of hits from you.

    • L. B. says:

Stephanie, what if the person who posted it got it from a web page who got it from another web page – who after a few more iteration – got it from your page? While I am not a lawyer, what I understand of copyright law could actually be considered fair use, seeing as it 1: does not injure the commercial value of your work and 2: is posted for the purposes of commentary. Please consult a copyright lawyer before making accusations.

  7. Hunter says:

Sounds to me like an art-win.

  8. Anonymous says:

this pic was on lolcats so I never stole it, someone else did :p

  9. Anonymous says:

and have you seen how many sites it’s on when you google search it?

  10. Tim says:

This is real, it’s in my home town of Oxford, UK. Some guy did it in the 80s as a protest against nuclear war (there was a US airbase nearby). It’s still there now and is a local landmark/curiosity. He also owned a cinema with a giant pair of legs sticking out the front but that was taken down as he didn’t have planning permision.

    So there.

  11. VC= says:

I can back up Tim’s story. Also from Oxford. It is in Headington and provides many a smile :)

  12. negative says:

I swear there was a flower pot around here somewhere.

  13. Ste says:

Its Oxford, wasent he also a radio DJ?

  14. Cory says:

Yeah, I saw this in the neighborhoods coming into Oxford on a bus from London a few years back…interesting to hear the protest backstory of it though

  15. jennypen says:

Yup, it’s classic. The Shark is wicked, and what’s awesome is the house across the road is called Shark’s View!

  16. C0nt1nu1ty says:

The guy who owns it is Bill Heine, who is a local radio DJ and went to Uni with Bill Clinton, I used to go to school with his son Magnus

  17. Jason Nark says:

Sharks are killers. Lucky this one is dead.

  18. Meira says:

My friend used to live in the house almost opposite to the shark. Her neighbour made badges that said “I saw the Shark” with a little picture. It’s an amazing thing to wake up to, as I learnt when I stayed in a bedroom facing it.

  19. Anonymous says:

    UH? ;-)

  20. Brenna says:

The guy who owns, or used to own this house is or was a DJ on Thames Valley FM. He’s American but fakes an English accent. He’s a real creep. Trust me. That house is way too cool for him.

  21. Strongsad says:

    Sharkapult success!

  22. vaughan says:

  35. AHHH says:

    THE RETURN OF JAWS

  36. me says:

seaworld feeds it’s sharks steroids… then they jump through hoops…

only logical explination (other then the clear fact it was built!)
