I consider the Air Force to be part of the army; most people, like me (evidently erroneously) believe “army” is synonymous with “military”. Does the army only contain infantry?
Yes, the “Army” is the basic infantry branch of the Military. Of course, they get tanks, so it’s really more of an infantry/armor branch
well now youve both failed the Army is a completely diffrent branch from the Airforce. The army is also much more than just infantry and armor it covers every part of war from front lines to support.

The Army has infantry as well as fighting vehicles and personal carriers all with Tank unit support. Not to mention Artillery.
The Army also has a large Naval force of small vessels such as transports and patrol craft.
The Army has its hand in every element of warfare. However they tend to keep them more separate than the Marines who regularly integrate their various types of forces in tandem operations.
Also: The term “Front lines” includes armour and vehicular support as well as helicopter sorties.

you must be dumb. if you claim you do signal support, you must be army as well. and you fail to recognize the difference of insignias for the different branches of service. he is air force because he has 2 stripes with a star in the middle, therefore he is an air force airman first class. FAIL
I could have told you that. My father was in Military for a while and then went into Air Force. Now he works for General Dynamics in Virginia, they develop some weapon designs and such and do a lot of tactics.

ok, im gonna clear this up right now. he has an m16a4 so obviosly hes in the army. hes a grunt, nothing more nothing less. the marines use th m4a1, airforce uses mp5 for craft as emergncy pdw, and i really dont care what the navy uses. and thats it.

Ok…back in the day it was ArmyAirCorps…then the name was changed or divided…Army as an entity unto itself and also AirForce. My dad WWII was in the ARMY AIR Corp – but when his stripes were given to him (sometime from when he first enlisted to…) he was AirForce. He loved the AirForce and he was a Master Sargent…taught electronics…So, I suppose you could say at one time Army and AirForce were one…sorry guys….

People seriously have to point out that he’s not in the Army? Most people would not be able to tell the difference. If you really feel that strongly about it, feel free to correct people but don’t be rude about it.
No one’s being rude. He has 2 stripes on his sleeve with a star in the middle. Only the Air force wears enlisted insignia on sleeves in battle uniforms. Also, he’s wearing the old Army Desert Combat Uniform, the majority of the Army has moved on to the Army Combat Uniform (ACU). Marines wear their distinct marine-pattern (marpat)digi-cammies, and Sailors wear either DCU’s or marpat.
It’s a pet peeve of service members to be misidentified as someone from another branch.
Right on, ehud… although I was quite disenfranchised when the Army and the Air Force decided to follow suit and develop a digital style for themselves. Marines were the first with the digital utility uniform, circa 2002 (it just took several years to outfit everyone and that’s why some of the first Marines to see combat in Iraq in 2003 have the old “analog” cammies on).

I liked how the guy earlier said “Dumbass. That is an Air Force Airman, E-2, not Army.” When its an E-3 Airman First Class. The trick is its the number of stripes plus one.
Airman Basic is no stripe
Then Airman is one stripe
Airman First Class is two stripes
Senior Airman is three stripes.
And then you go onto your NCO ranks… Staff Sgt., Tech. Sgt., Master Sgt, Senior Master Sgt., and Chief Master Sgt.

While he might be messing around, it’s also possible that he is simply changing to the “strong side muzzle down” carry. In order to do that, you hold the parade sling in your right and and pull it taught, then with your left hand on the hand guards, muzzle pointing down, you bring your left arm across your body and put the rifle behind your back. You could possibly think of it as being similar to carrying a purse. All you have to do next is bring your right arm in closer to the side of your body and just hold the rifle by your sling. Strong side muzzle down is most often used when it is raining or when other debris could get into your rifle through the barrel.

But the Airforce just cary the weapons, they have no ammo issued to them, trust, I’ve been there and seen them (note I’m Army, not Airforce). But the short of the story is the Airforce has nothing but time to play around with ammo-less weapons.

being in the air force and doing two tours in iraq in lieu of (because the army can’t fill their own taskings and the air force wants to be the army) i can tell you that we are issued ammo. all the way from 5.56 to 50 cal to mark 19. who does the army call when they are getting ran over by the enemy? oh yeah, the air force.
oh and you’re a stupid fobbit. if you ever left your fob when you were there, you would know that weapons are cleared when you come back through the gate. that’s why you see the air force (and everybody else) walking around without their weapons loaded.

The weapon is obviously cleared as there is no magazine, and anybody who knows anything about military lfe would know there are only two states a weapon can be in green and red. No mag=green(cleared and safe). Oh and he looks to be attempting to shoulder holster the weapon.
Epic fail. If you call a weapon safe because it has no mag, you’ve just neglected the first weapons safety rule. Even if it doesn’t have a round in the chamber: “Treat every weapon as if it were loaded”.

yeah, we can see there isn’t a magazine in there, but we can’t even see the ejection port, let alone the chamber, so we have no business stating that the weapon is cleared.
and, well, maybe green and red works for the airforce, but i learned at least 4 weapon conditions…
and, as was already stated, irregardless of condition, he is still violating at least 2 safety rules (treat every weapon as if loaded, and never point at something you do not intend to destroy/kill)
Condition 2 does not apply to the M16A2 service rifle.

No you are right Lunchmeat the US military never freed Europe and South-East Asia from decades of oppression (sarcasm). Sure there have been some major fuck ups on the way most notably Viet-Nam and the war in Iraq but one must recognize for all the wrongs the US military have perpetrated they have done many more good things for humanity as a whole. One could not possibly argue that the world would be better if the United States had not intervened in Europe, had not laid waste to Japanese tyranny and aide in the collapse of the Iron Curtain that enslaved millions of Eastern Europeans to the shackles of Soviet Russia. One could no doubt argue that Iraqis would better off with out five years of war and strife, but one cannot forget that Saddam Hussein was a cruel and at least a segment of the population (the Kurds) can live in relative peace and prosper. Honestly how can one say the US military has done more harm than good, I know there will always be those who do and frankly that astounds me.
