» 56 Failures in Communication

  1. Nick says:

Im in chelmsford right now and i’ll be the one laughing when the sirens go off.

  2. Stefan says:

I think you will stop laughing when we are all coming along. :-)

  3. loz says:

amaingly, it’s a real sign – i’ve seen it with my own eyes.

  4. Haha – though it’s signposted that way because it’s out of commission now and it’s been turned into a tourist attraction. Sorry to be a spoilsport. To be honest though, anyone driving to Chelmsford ought to have a FAIL sticker attached somewhere on their windscreen.

  5. DELLboy says:

True chris, threre is another up here in sunny scotland, in Fife. U should also have your FAIL sticker ready if your going to Fife.

  6. steve says:

Lol i live in chelmsford and ive seen it too…

  7. compareandy says:

I’ve passed through here before and seen this sign.

Don’t forget, once it was secret, now it’s not. We should all be looking for the ones that are still secret so we all have somewhere to hide.

  8. Lynn says:

I’ve seen a pretty similar sign in Central Ohio-not sure if it’s for a tourist attraction though.

  9. Anonymous says:

    SHOOP DA WHOOP

  10. Observer says:

    That MUST BE PPSed!

  11. ups says:

Looks like something the Bush Admin. Could see and fail to find the place anyway.

  12. harriet says:

    i live in kelvedon hatch.
    THAT is a fail

  13. Matt B. says:

What makes this a fail is that there is actually a place called Chipping Ongar. I mean, what the hell? It sounds like a severe dental impaction.

  14. Fumbe says:

    Shhhh, it’s a secret.

  15. bill says:

I’ve been to that “Secret Bunker” – it’s pretty cool actually. Gigantic “nuclear-proof” doors, 3 or 4 stories underground, ancient PCs (I think it was in use until the 80′s) – a real Cold-War feel to the place. Worth a visit for anyone living in Essex (FAIL!) Ok, I live in Essex :)

  16. Hywel says:

I’ve been there too – a fascinating relic of the Cold War with the twist that the Government could snatch it back at any time. In order to turn it into a tourist attraction, a second exit had to be made through the upper level which somewhat weakens its original purpose of being able to survive an atomic bomb detontation as near as half a mile away.

By the time I passed the sign it was plastered with graffiti so I didn’t bother taking my own picture.

  17. BECCA says:

    I LOIVE RIGHTT NEAR THIS!

  18. BECCA says:

ok fail at myself for the typo, but im sitting in the dark so what can i say?! lol

  19. Masked Marauder says:

For those not living in the UK, on road signs White writing on a Brown background denotes a Tourist Attraction.

  20. Tom Neilson says:

It’s a Brown sign, so a Tourist Attraction, not some military base.

  21. Jenny says:

*Sigh* Obviously, you’re not supposed to read the sign!

  22. Harrison says:

    Chelmsford = Fail

  23. Starr says:

repeat. this one is on here twice.

  24. Gloopical says:

Lol yeah, I’ve been to that bunker.

    Smells funny :|

  25. sdsdsd1249 says:

maybe it WAS secret, but NOW isn’t?

  26. Allaiyah says:

    Well, it certainly isn’t a secret anymore….

  27. melissa says:

lol, this was on top gear, and james may pointed out, it could actually be the other way..

  28. bob says:

haha i’ve actually been to the bunker! me n mates got lost and ended up at a “Secret Nuclear Bunker”… :S

  29. sami says:

i live down the road next to the bunker, and i keep my horse in the field at the entrance to the back entrance of the bunker, i went there once it was sooooooooooooooo boring

  30. solo piano says:

was this in a james bond film?

  31. basicgrl says:

that’s like my little cousin saying ” okay, im going to hide this candy so, NO ONE LOOK UNDER THE PILLOW! “

  32. Sooperdood says:

actually its not a nuclear bunker anymore, dunno if its a museum but people can go there, i sawe a leaflet of it down at my train station

  33. smokesweed4life says:

ha ha the soviets will never look in here

  34. CLG says:

No, I’m pretty sure it’s the other way.
