I’ve thought about this photo for a long while. Having been in an automobile accident myself, I think it’s likely that the fitness center offers physical therapy for accident victims.
That’s an excellent point, but wouldn’t a ramp be cheaper and easier to maintain?

I use to belong to that gym when I lived in San Diego, It’s 2 stories tall, But the main entrance is at the top floor. It use to be called Family Fitness Center before it was 24. I never used the escalator of course.
Guess they’re saving their energy for the workout…?

yup, i used to go to this gym also. sometimes the escalators aren’t working, but when they are, many people going in to 24 hr fitness take them.
This is my gym and I’ve been about about this for years. The best part is that there’s now a “Handicapped access in back of building” sign in front right by the escalators, leaving no excuse what so ever.
In fact, you can see half of the sign on the right hand side of this picture. Thanks for posting this – you’ve made my day.

Lets face it, given the choice between the two. I pick escalators. WHY? because they’re fun! Nevermind the retarded notion of putting an escalator anywhere near a fitness center. You can’t tell me that escalators aren’t fun. It’s like a hick getting on an elevator for the first time. Yay Yay, I wanna go again.
They should make the escalators go down instead of up and not have stairs, then the people would really get a workout!

What the picture does NOT show are all the non-fitness stores that are on the second story of this strip mall. The escalators are for the 80-year old women trying to get to the yarn shop (or similar) next door.
