Some people here playing “gotcha” point out that oil is used to make lots of things besides fuel for transportation. True. Crude oil is a chemical cornucopia. So when it gets scarce and expensive, we might want to save it for making things and stop BURNING it in millions of smelly, noisy, polluting internal combustion engines.
