to put all of your doubts to rest, I’m from Buffalo, NY, and i’ve been a sabres fan for as long as i can remember, and i know that that’s HSBC Arena…i know these things…plus, you can see the sabres logo on the top of the jumbotron…that is, the part that is still attached to the rafters…
Sweet Jeebus, that’s a painful pricetag, Starlite >_< I suppose taxpayer money from the State of New York (where I don’t live) covered it…
I feel sorry for whomever was working in the building that day! Probably just minding his/her own business when *CRASHBOOMSHATTERBUILDINGSHAKE* “HOLY MOTHER OF—— WTF WAS THAT!? ….. I gotta go home and change my pants now..”
Insurance probably covered it, rather than tax dollars. All though, there might have been a lawsuit against whoever installed/inspected it. All the commercials we’re forced to watch when we go to games are where they make the most money. AFAIK, ticket prices won’t pay for this garbage alone, and I might be wrong but I seem to remember being told that newspapers charge upwards of $40,000 for a full page ad!
Buffalo is one of the places where New York state tax money gets raised, not gets spent. Being the recipient of NYS tax money is almost solely the prerogative of that festering sewerpit at the mouth of the Hudson.
Insurance covered the accident and it has since been replaced by a superior model, all at local expense.

That did happen in charleston SC,… or whichever city next to charleston, crappy part was, that a guy was underneath it and unfortunately died. Happened i think back in 94-96 time frame.
I went to a concert there the night before. I was standing right under that thing.
It’s definitely Buffalo. Tim Horton’s is huge here. Horton played hockey in Buffalo for a few years.
The fail where two cars are going through the toll booth at the same time is in Buffalo too.
Not that anyone gives a rip.
reminds me of a day at tgifridays where the whole bar top fell down, hundreds of glasses shatterd and like 1000 lbs of oak shelving crashed down on the bartop. scared the shit out of the drunks at the bar
I remember that happening, in Buffalo NY – They were lucky that it fell when no one was there, it would have really sucked if anyone was on the ice…
funny. happened in Charlotte NC several years back too. wonder if the same company did both signs?
I don’t know about the one in NY, but it looks like the old hornets stadium…
No it definitely happened in Buffalo

I think we should trust him…he knows these things.
I thought it was the Hornets stadium too! that happened when they put it up the 1st time,
Hornets suck chode. GO SABRES!!!!
it’d suck if this was durin a game
Really I was unaware that American hockey rinks advertise Tim Horton’s a Canadian coffee and donuts shop
If this was in Buffalo, they have TONS of Tim Horton’s in Upstate New York, so yes.
western dick squad. not upstate.
what did you just call me????
actually any area other then New York City in the state is called “upstate”
they have them here in Buffalo too its not just Canada
They have lots of locations in NY and Ohio.
Tim Horton played for the Buffalo Sabres. Tim Horton was a hockey player, not just a coffee maker.
shouldve named it fail on ice lol
AND THEY CONTINUE TO STAND THERE!
Ah yes, the old Tumble-Tron
what the bloody hell happened
wow that is one major fail
Caption fail.
Clearly, it should say jumbofail.
Good picture, though.
I remember that! the jumble-tron.
awesome.
i wonder how much it costs to replace all of that
I was there the night that thing failed. we had an event there and i was standing under it hours before it came down. damn.
i would have just loved to hear the CRASH as it hit the ground it would be like *BOOM*
Ouch >_<
IIRC, about $250,000 to $300,000 for each screen
i remember that! i had to wait to go to that game. im surprised buffalo hasn’t been in the fail blog more.

Under this pic it says something like “But wait there’s more fail!” But there wasn’t.
I wish I had seen this happen, Fumbe like big boom crash fwoosh!

im always terrified of that happening. and thats one i’ve actually been to. shit.
yeah, they actually managd to salvage 2 screens. the put them at each end under the 200 section. the players used to aim for them during practice.

wow, that’s an expensive fail
wow epic jumbofail lol
The robot slipped on the ice mid-transform. Funny!
If you look closely you can see the words Marine Midland Arena on the JumboTron — the name of the bank before HSBC took over.
Orange County Hockey Club!!!!
Too bad for the people playing hockey at that time.
“Hey, Yzerman, get out of the -” KRASHHHHHH!!!!!!! “Never mind.”
and this is just another reason Hockey fails completely
