    As I saw demonstrated in a university computer lab once, you have to fold the 5 1/4″ disks to get them to fit in the 3 1/2″ drives.:-P

    Aaaah, this exact thing has happened to me more than once. The first time it was the wrong sized floppy, the second time, there simply was no floppy drive thing. I was trying to stick it into the USB hole.

    man… im only 15 years old and i still use floppies… all the computers in my school got replaced though so now i have to use a flash drive… i have a shelf full of floppies… guess theyr gonna be thrown out soon… rofl.

    They quit putting floppy drives in laptops YEARS ago – i mean before 2000 really… and that one is a somewhat recent one too… FAIL. She might even wonder about the software for a flash drive…

    Ah, 51/4″. Almost before my time. Way back when, I learned Apple Basic on Apple II’s, which used those.

    I used 3.5″ers constantly through to high school, transporting info from home to school and vise-versa. But you know, if you fold the floppy JUST RIGHT…you ruin your data :P

      Shoot, I remember when Texas Instruments first came out with the small version of progrmmable computers. The ONLY inputs were the power cord and the keyboard! (How old am I?)

    Haha, I’m 17 And I remember Using 3.5’s for all my games.

    But I -never- used a 5 1/4 for anything (though I have one I scavenged from an old medical computer, It’s useless without the OS.)

    And yes, They DID used to put floppy drives in laptops, but only 3.5in ones, 5 1/4 was like 15 years before that.

    I had an AOL 1.0 installation floppy that I had formatted and used for most of grade school and high school. But it broke it my senior year… *tear* it was so freak’n awesome though.

    Yeah I have one of those drives floating around, just seeing it makes me want to put it back into one of my computers, it would be cool to play those old games, like dungeons and dragons..:D although I think that one’s on 3.5… still fun for old games! Had a Tandy that had a cd rom installed, needed to put the ide controller on a sound board. that was ghetto.

    BTW apple took the floppy fidk 5. 1/4 out in the macintosh that was 1984 XD
